Tom Hanks has announced that he'll be taking on his first TV acting gig in years this spring. And that it was Tina Fey who lured him back to the small screen, with a guest spot on '30 Rock'.

The movie star Tweeted the news Friday night: "RadioMan delivers msg from T.Fey. Result? I'm on 30 Rock! Thanks, RMan Hanx."

No details have been released yet about his '30 Rock' role -- could Kip/Buffy from 'Bosom Buddies' be moving into Liz Lemon's apartment building? -- and it's possible that he'll appear as himself.

But, according to TVLine.com, if he does play a character it will be his first TV acting job on a major network since he played alcoholic Uncle Ned in 'Family Ties' over 20 years ago.

When I first moved to New York, I lived in a building called The Webster, a professional-women-only building where, for reals, dudes were not permitted past the lobby, and enforcement of that rule was taken seriously.

It was clean, affordable and made the big city a little less scary for a newbie, and when I would tell friends about the place, I eventually shorthanded the description to, "You know, it's like on 'Bosom Buddies.'"

There were no men in disguise hanging at The Webster -- as far as I knew, anyway -- but that idea made for the high-concept, charming, sadly short-lived sitcom 'Bosom Buddies,' the show that sparked the careers of Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari (who, let's be honest, while charming, also made for two of the more unattractive men in drag ever).

Yesterday I did a post where I listed the six sitcoms that even a sitcom lover would hate. So today, how about we look at six sitcoms that are actually good?

The six shows that follow are considered "bad" by whatever television common wisdom a lot of fans use. At best, if you like one of these shows you're supposed to consider them "guilty pleasures," but I like them without categorizing them that way. These are good sitcoms. Not "so bad they're good" good or "oh well I guess they're not the worst sitcoms in history" good, I mean they're just good, and you don't have to feel guilty about liking them.

I'm very excited about the 'TV Land Awards' that will air on April 25 at 9PM. I'm a big fan of retro television (and Retro Television), and I like seeing a lot of stars both old and new get all dressed up and come together for a night of fun, craziness, and award-giving. Tim Allen as host? Great! You're going to honor Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari from 'Bosom Buddies?' Fantastic! A salute to 'Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks?' Outstanding!

I'm particularly excited about this year's show because from the promos I've seen, it looks like you're going to re-animate the dead.

Former 'Bosom Buddies' stars Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari are scheduled to appear at the 8th Annual TV Land awards to accept an award for show's 30th anniversary.

According to TV Guide, Hanks and Scolari will appear alongside Donna Dixon, Telma Hopkins and Holland Taylor at the ceremony, which tapes Sat., Apr. 17, and airs Sun., Apr. 25, 9PM on TV Land. Tim Allen hosts.

Who besides myself has been aching for a 'Bosom Buddies' reunion? Your wish has been granted now that Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari will reunite to accept a TV Land Anniversary Award for that very sitcom, thirty years later.

Fellow cast members Donna Dixon, Thelma Hopkins and Holland Taylor will also be in attendance. Sadly, the late Wendie Jo Sperber cannot (may she rest in peace). The show will be broadcast on April 25th and will be hosted by Tim Allen.

While I won't say that 'Bosom Buddies' launched Tom Hanks' career (the movie 'Splash' gets more credit for that), it definitely showcased his comedic talent. Peter Scolari was also an excellent foil for him and even made a cameo in Hanks' directorial debut 'That Thing You Do.'

It makes you wonder what Kip and Henry are actually doing in the 'Bosom Buddies' universe thirty years later. Henry probably wrote that book about their experience posing as women in order to keep a roof over their heads and it became a bestseller. They might have even decided that they liked dressing in drag and continue to this day.

Pop culture lists that have 100 or more entries, whether it's a list for television, film, music, books, advertising, whatever - are too long. When you list 100 of anything, you're not really getting down to the "best" (or "worst," if that's the theme of the list), you're just giving a list of 100.

Supertremendous.com has their list of the 100 most iconic TV show intros. You can read the first 90, but I wanted to concentrate on the top ten. That list includes The Brady Bunch, The Simpsons, M*A*S*H, Knight Rider (???), and The Twilight Zone, along with the number one pick after the jump. Can you guess it before you click?

So last night we had the return of the guys and gals from Sterling Cooper, and Asylum.com has a list of the best fictional TV advertising agencies.

Beyond Mad Men and Bewitched, I couldn't have told you the names of the ad agencies on Bosom Buddies, Full House, or thirtysomething if a million bucks was at stake. Did they miss anyone? I know we've had other ad agencies on TV but my mind is blank at the moment.

AOL has chosen the best TV shows of the 1980s, and it's not a bad list. But I'm sure everyone reading this will have their own thoughts.

Sure, there are shows that were my favorites I'd like to see on the list, but those would be personal choices. The only problem I have is where the shows place on the list. For example, is Fraggle Rock really a better show than Spenser: For Hire, Miami Vice, and Kate and Allie (even beyond the fact that it might be an odd show to compare to the other shows in the first place)? Is Facts of Life better than MacGyver?

Before we get to this week's question, I want to respond to a number of comments I have received regarding my post about Rosie O'Donnell hosting The Price is Right.

There seems to be some confusion over what the term "OpEd" means. Well, let's concentrate on the Op part. Op is short for opinion. That's what I and many bloggers like myself express in our pieces, our opinions. As a fan of TPiR, I would be very upset to see Rosie hosting, mainly because I am not a fan of hers. I don't find her funny or entertaining. Aside from the fact that she bores me to tears, I have nothing against her.

Well, the upfronts have come and gone and everyone is asking the question that gets asked every year at this time, "How could they cancel my favorite show?"

No one understands how difficult this is better than I. I have been watching TV for a long time and I've seen many of my favorite shows get cut down in their prime. Arrested Development, Firefly, Bosom Buddies; I loved all of these shows and I was sad to see them go. Here's what's important to remember: With every great show that gets canceled, a deserving show goes with it. For every Jericho that gets cut down, there is a George Lopez Show that is put out of it's misery. For every Veronica Mars that is stopped short there is a Reba that we no longer have to deal with.

Besides, in a few months, the new fall season will be here and there will be a whole new batch of shows to worry about.

Why does it have to be like that? Why do they either have to "love to hate" or "hate to love" what they see on television? Is it not "hip" to really like television? I've long suspected that these people don't really like TV, they just find it a convenient place to use all of their snarky tools and be sarcastic. Of course, that doesn't mean that a book about television, even from them, couldn't hold some promise. But reading through the damn thing, this is what I found out about TWoP's view of television.

Sitcoms Online is reporting some cool news for fans of the 80s series Bosom Buddies, which chronicled the lives of two men (Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari) who worked for an ad agency and had to dress in drag in order to stay in an apartment meant for women only. The show also featured the lovely Donna Dixon and the late Wendy Jo Sperber. TBS will be airing reruns of the series on Saturday mornings from 6 to 7 a.m. starting in September. Speaking of Tom Hanks, whatever happened to him? Last I heard he was doing movies or something.
