Marissa Outs Teddy to Win the Election Over His Uncle on '90210' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 16th 2011 4:45AM
Brandy, '90210'Coming out as a gay person can be a very emotional and difficult time. So you certainly don't want someone else to out you on national television. That's the situation Teddy found himself in when footage of his wedding wound up on the local news on '90210' (Tue., 8PM ET on The CW).

What's worse is it was done solely so Marissa could beat his conservative uncle in a special election. And Marissa was so confident in the move, she wasn't even ashamed to admit it to Silver.

"I did what I had to do to win. And now I'm gonna do a lot of good for a lot of people, including your friend," she said. As for Teddy being upset and angry. "He will get over it," Marissa said.

Brandy Rekindles Old Romance With Parker on 'Drop Dead Diva' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 19th 2011 6:15AM
Brandy, 'Drop Dead Diva'Seeing Brandy as Elisa Shayne on 'Drop Dead Diva' (Sun., 9PM ET on Lifetime) was a lot of fun, but it was also a sad reminder of how talented she is as a genuine actress. Of late, she's been spending her television time on reality shows like her own series with brother Ray Jay and her fourth-place run on 'Dancing With the Stars.'

While we would never want to take the talented musician away from her singing career, we do miss her smile in scripted television.

Guest roles here and on '90210' are nice and all, but wouldn't it be great to see her settle into a regular role for a while? It's been ten years since 'Moesha' went off the air, but everyone still remembers that role.

And the 'Skating With the Stars' Winner Is... (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 22nd 2010 1:10AM
And the 'Skating With the Stars' Winner Is... Ever since its premiere, 'Skating With the Stars' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC) has been like an awkward cousin to the more popular 'Dancing With the Stars.' From the beginning, the show has seemed cursed: there have been pratfalls, a bloody accident, and a star who had to quit the show due to illness.

Last night, the show even had a mini-'DWTS'-style crisis. In a repeat of the Bristol Palin/Brandy fiasco, voters picked the celebrity with the lowest scores to advance to the finals. Reality star Bethenny Frankel beat Olympic skier Jonny Moseley, as the crowd booed the decision.

This meant that Bethenny faced actress Rebecca Budig on tonight's finale. Their scores would determine the winner. And so, the first-ever winner of 'Skating With the Stars' is ...

Brandy Talks 'Dancing With the Stars,' Dating and a New Season of 'Brandy & Ray J'

by Kim Potts, posted Dec 3rd 2010 5:30PM
Brandy and Ray J
You don't have to dig too far into 'Dancing With the Stars' fans' comments on blogs to gauge that most were -- and still are -- pretty upset that R&B pop diva Brandy Norwood and her 'DWTS' partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy finished in fourth place in the just-concluded 11th season, especially since many fans were looking at the duo as potential champs.

Brandy herself has a complete different take on the competition, however.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy appears to have come to terms with his shocking elimination from 'Dancing With the Stars' along with partner Brandy. On 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated), he refused to slam the surprising vote or America's decision to put Bristol Palin in the finals. Instead, he asked viewers to keep watching the dance competition despite a recent flurry of criticism.

Why Is Bristol Palin Still on 'DWTS'? Host Tom Bergeron Explains (VIDEO)

Why Is Bristol Palin Still on 'DWTS'? Host Tom Bergeron ExplainsThere's been a lot of outrage over the fact that Bristol Palin is still on 'Dancing With the Stars.' In fact, one man shot his TV in protest. Yesterday, consistent high-scorer Brandy was eliminated -- the singer got the highest score seven times, receiving the lowest score only once. Meanwhile, Ms. Palin has gotten the the lowest score seven times -- and never gotten a high score.

On the new 'Chelsea Lately' (weeknights, 11PM ET on E!), Chelsea Handler asks 'DWTS' host Tom Bergeron what's going on. Tom explains the situation very slowly and patiently to Ms. Handler: "She is ... getting ... more votes ... than the people who ... aren't there anymore."

Brandy and Maks Still Coming to Terms With Shocking 'Dancing With the Stars' Elimination (VIDEO)

by AOL TV Staff, posted Nov 17th 2010 2:00PM
Still trying to make sense of their shocking elimination on last night's 'Dancing With the Stars,' Brandy Norwood and Maksim Chmerkovskiy appeared on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 9 AM on ABC) this morning. The pair, looking confused and somewhat wounded by the results, were clearly grappling with the unfairness of the past 48 hours, which saw them land a perfect score on the tango from the judges but still get eliminated from the show on Tuesday night.

Host George Stephanopoulos asked if they were frustrated by the process. "It is what it is," Maks said. People vote, that's the beauty of our show, but it's also the downer a little bit ... I'm a trained ballroom dancer, trained with the idea of a racer, that if you cross the finish line first you win. In this case, you cross the finish line first, somebody barely finishes, and then you get a tie because they showed heart. It's difficult to deal with."

Maks does make a good point. What's the purpose of having a judges panel if their scores are proved meaningless by audience voting? Critics today are arguing that this vote shows 'Dancing With the Stars' may not be about the dancing at all, but is really just a popularity contest. Then again, the incredible audience engagement is a big part of the show's success, and Bristol Palin has a highly motivated, national fan-base that has carried her through the competition.

George closed the interview by asking the team who they thought would win. On this pivotal question, Maks deferred to Brandy. "I hope Kyle wins," she said. We'll let you guys draw your own conclusions on that one.

'Dancing With the Stars' Season 11, Episode 17 Recap

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer shake everything they have for their samba['Dancing with the Stars' - 'The Semi-Finals']

'Dancing With the Stars' finally reached the semi-finals with four characters that represented four different traits. Brandy had the best musicality, Jennifer the best acting, Kyle was the best entertainer, and Bristol had the best luck. The final two dances for each of the couples were split into two rounds. In the Latin round, the dancers had to incorporate a solo, but there didn't seem to be much emphasis placed on it. Previous seasons stressed a time component, or even the contestants suffering from nerves, but we saw none of that.

In round two, the Ballroom round, we got the stars' really truncated life stories. Brandy had the most celebrity fan-fare, and she even had Monica in the audience cheering her on. The producers avoided another potential booing incident by showing Bristol's mom, Sarah Palin, speaking only in recorded packages and not live, just in case.

A Dance Marathon on 'Dancing With the Stars' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 26th 2010 5:04AM
A Dane Marathon on 'Dancing With the Stars'It was Rock 'n' Roll night on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC), and for the episode's finale, the contestants found themselves stuck between a rock ... and a hard place. 'DWTS' abandoned its traditional format to feature a dance marathon. The contestants all had to get out on the dance floor together, and there was nowhere to hide.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

During the marathon, the judges eliminated the players one by one. The last couple standing would gain an additional ten points for the night. Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy had the highest score from the regular portion of the evening -- they got 26 points out of 30 for their rendition of the tango. But this success wouldn't necessarily translate to the more endurance-focused marathon segment.
