Best Wedding Shows on TV: From 'Bridezillas' to 'Big Redneck Weddings'

by Tara Spicer, posted Aug 22nd 2010 10:00AM

There's no denying the addictive powers of the wedding show ... especially when you throw in an angry bride, a frazzled groom, and a budget that makes Chelsea Clinton's nuptials look like a backyard potluck.

But of course, not all brides are bridezillas, not all grooms are miserable, and not all weddings come with a million dollar price tag. There are also those shows that are filled with happy, normal people. You don't have to be a bride (or a groom) to enjoy these seven wedding shows ...

Stephanie Sings the Pedicure Blues on 'Bridezillas' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Aug 16th 2010 4:20AM
Stephanie Sings Pedicure Blues on 'Bridezillas'Stephanie has the wedding blues: She messed up her fancy French pedicure, forcing a redo in the nail salon. But instead of becoming one of the raging 'Bridezillas' (Sun., 9PM ET on WE), she chose to vent her frustration through song.

A member of the salon accompanied her on acoustic guitar, and the bride freestyled, "You know I got the wedding blues, and I don't know why I had to choose / a French manicure instead of just some paint / make it red -- I'm a saint / for dealin' with this and for being so calm..."

"They say creativity is a good way to vent your frustrations," Stephanie later explained. And indeed, her toenail debacle turned into a "great experience."

Here's a Delusional Bride-To-Be on 'Bridezillas' (VIDEO)

by AOL TV Staff, posted Jul 26th 2010 9:54AM
BridezillasI know, that headline could be used to describe 99% of the brides that you see on WE's 'Bridezillas' (Sundays at 9PM on WE). It does have "zillas" in the title, after all.

This particular bride wants you to know that SHE'S NOT FAT. And I guess that would be fine if she was going to leave it at that, but she also makes a point to say that she's going to make everyone else look like %&*#. I don't know exactly what that word is supposed to be but I'm guessing it's not "Grace Kelly."

And remember: SHE'S NOT FAT.

'Bridezilla' Brings Delusional Attitude to Exercise Class (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jul 26th 2010 4:30AM
'Bridezilla' Has Bad Attitude in Exercise ClassOn 'Bridezillas' (Sun., 9PM ET on WE), Maria attends an exercise class a few days before her wedding because her dress is "a little bit snug." She intends to bring her "A-game," but actually brings very little work and a lot of attitude.

Of her many outrageous comments, perhaps the most delusional is: "I don't know why she's riding my a--. They're [beep] fitness instructors, OK? They're just jealous because they don't have a nice body like mine."

She also says, "Who are they to tell me what to do?!"
Um, it's basically their job.

'Bridezilla' Emerges When Sister/Bridesmaid Refuses Updo Hairstyle (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jul 19th 2010 5:10AM
'Bridezilla' Emerges When Sister/Bridesmaid Refuses Updo HairstyleMichelle became the definition of 'Bridezillas' (Sun., 9PM ET on WE), when her sister refused to wear her hair up for the wedding ceremony.

"You were told what to do. Quit being a stubborn little brat," said Michelle. "No, you listen to me. Check it out. Your hair was supposed to be up ... You're the one screwing it up. Don't expect me not to give attitude."

"I'm gonna drop out of this whole thing," threatened her sister. "I do not need this stress!"
"You? It's my wedding! And you're the one [bleep] it up!"

The bridesmaid stomped out of the hotel room, but the bride followed quickly, running (in her wedding gown) after her and plastering her against the wall.

"You're throwing a little bitch fit," said Michelle. "This day isn't about you. It's about me and Gil." The moment of truth: will she or won't she change her hairstyle?

One Aunt's Practical Joke on 'Bridezillas' Is No Laughing Matter (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jul 12th 2010 4:13AM
Aunt's Practical Joke Is No Laughing Matter on 'Bridezillas'A woman's hair is serious business -- especially when it comes to her wedding day. Since Michelle had previously chopped off her long locks in a rage and handed them to her ex-husband, this time around, she's asked her hairstylist aunt to put in hair extensions.

Midway through the proceedings on 'Bridezillas' (
Sun., 9PM ET on WE), her aunt Tracy says she needs "glue remover." An anxious Michelle doesn't have any, so Tracy flippantly responds, "Don't worry, we're just gonna cut it out ... Do you care if your hair isn't as long as you planned on it being? This glue is gonna pull out all of this."

Michelle is horrified and nearly speechless. Then her aunt says, "I'm just kidding! I just wanted to scare you, there's nothing wrong." Mean aunt! Let's hope she made up for it with a really big wedding present.

The Dictator Bride on 'Bridezillas' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jul 5th 2010 9:35PM
The Dictator Bride on 'Bridezillas'Well, the show is called 'Bridezillas.' So you would expect some awfulness and cattiness to be part of the equation. But on the latest episode of the series (Sun., 9PM ET on WE), a bride-to-be named Natalie takes it all a little too far.

Natalie has requested that her bridesmaids wear silver dresses. Unfortunately, her friend Amber has purchased a "dark silver dress," not the "light silver dress" which Natalie wanted. So, while the two of them are getting pedicures, Natalie forces Amber to put on the dress, then parade back and forth in it, to make sure that the outfit measures up to her standards.

Amber is repeatedly told to "hurry up." Then, she makes the mistake of appearing in the dress while still wearing her jeans. "Take the jeans off,' Natalie says. "I wanna see what [the dress] is gonna look like!" she whines to Amber.

So Amber takes her jeans off, and the dress eventually receives Natalie's highly grudging approval. (Even though it's still not the right shade of silver.)

"Don't ever make me do that again," Amber says to her friend. "You'll do whatever I want you to do," Natalie replies. " ... Probably," says Amber. Yikes! Jeez. Stand up for yourself a little more there, Amber!

Traumatic Waxing on 'Bridezillas' (VIDEO)

by Chris Harnick, posted Jun 28th 2010 10:30AM
BridezillasA waxing trip on 'Bridezillas' (Sun., 9PM on WE) turned out to be quite traumatic for the bride-to-be, Natalie.

The wax was supposed to be a wedding night surprise for the new husband, but the bride was very nervous.

"I'm really high-strung right now and nervous," the bride said. "Oh I'm nervous, I'm really nervous."

Then the screams began. Sally, the aesthetician, said Natalie screamed more than the average client. In the end, Natalie only let the Sally do half of the required waxing.

A Very Angry Bride Does Some Cursing on 'Bridezillas' (VIDEO)

A Very Angry Bride Does Some Cursing on 'Bridezillas'Your wedding day is the best day of your life. Or so you would think -- but then, maybe you haven't watched the series 'Bridezillas' (Sun., 9PM ET on WE).

Wife-to-be Shandra is having some problems. She's already fired one of her bridesmaids, and now, her husband is getting cold feet. Still, the wedding must go on!

On the latest episode of the show, Shandra gets in a fight with her remaining bridesmaids, who are arguing over which one of them gets to wear a particular dress. We mean really arguing: as in physically wrestling and fighting on the bed. Shandra won't stand for this. While the other ladies are screaming at each other, she tries to get their attention. "Shut up! Shut up!" Shandra yells. When this doesn't work, she resorts to smashing a glass on the floor.

"This is my f#cking day!" Shandra says. "It's not about none of you b#tches!" She then repeats the phrases "It's my day!" and "Shut up!" until the other women get the point.

Bridezilla Vs. Momzilla (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jun 14th 2010 5:49AM
Bridezilla vs Momzilla on 'Bridezillas'We're all familiar with bridezillas, but mothers of the bride can go ballistic too. On 'Bridezillas' (Sun., 9PM ET on WE), one soon-to-be-wed young woman loses any notion of poise when she discovers that her own mother has purchased a white dress for the occasion. But her mom can give as good as she gets.

"Oh, my God, Mom! Are you smoking crack?!" screams the bride. "Seriously, what is the one rule in all of the world that everybody knows? Do not wear white to a wedding!"

At first her mother chuckles, and defends the dress by pointing out the accompanying black jacket. But then she goes crazy, too, cussing her out and calling her daughter a bitch.

Puzzling Party Favors on 'Bridezillas' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jun 7th 2010 5:22AM
Puzzling Party Favors on 'Bridezillas'Sometimes it's a bridesmaid or a wedding planner who suffers the wrath of a stressed-out bride. This time on 'Bridezillas' (Sun., 9PM ET on WE), the groom is on the receiving end of a temper tantrum.

When it comes time to put together some poorly planned party favors, Andrea tells Jason to put a caramel apple in a bag that appears too small and narrow. Seconds later, she commands he take it out, calls him "a [beep] idiot" and blames him for ruining the party favor, when clearly he's just following orders.

"Over the years I've definitely learned how to tolerate her craziness and put up with it," says Jason. In that case, perhaps theirs is a marriage that will last.

Bridezillas bride now in jail

by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 5th 2009 5:30PM
The interesting thing about this news report below isn't that a reality show star is in jail. That happens all the time. The interesting thing is the fact that the bride and her family are saying that everything you see on WE's Bridezillas is scripted and that she's not really like that.

She was put in jail partly because of her behavior on the show, but if this "aspiring actress" was just acting, what does that mean for the case?

What Kona is thankful for

by Kona Gallagher, posted Nov 27th 2008 1:01PM
friday night lightsIt's Thanksgiving morning right now and I'm sitting in my dad's kitchen watching people cook. I'm thankful for so many things this year, but since this is a TV site, let's talk about the things in TV that I'm thankful for--things besides the murder that the poor Detroit Lions are going to face at the hands of the Tennessee Titans today.

1. Netflix Watch Instantly
I've had Netflix basically since its inception, but with all of the TV that I watch, my Netflix movies have had a bad habit of collecting dust for months (I finally sent No Country for Old Men back after about six months on top of my DVD player). Even though I've known about the Watch Instantly feature for a while, I've never actually tried it out. I just watched Friday Night Lights Season 2, and let me tell you. it's so nice to just hit "Next" and have all of the episodes right there without having to change disks. Does that make me ridiculously lazy? Probably. I don't care.
