'Chelsea Lately' Panel Talks Bristol Palin's Gay Comment to Margaret Cho (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Dec 8th 2010 5:20AM
Chelsea Handler Talks Margaret Cho vs. Bristol PalinThe battle between Margaret Cho and Bristol Palin continues -- online. Whether intended or not, Margaret launched a media firestorm on Nov. 29 when she blogged that fellow ex-'Dancing With the Stars' competitor Bristol appeared on the dance-competition show only for her mother's political gain.

Margaret later clarified that she was merely commenting on rumors and, though she doesn't agree with the family's politics, she likes Bristol and thinks "she's a cool person." Bristol then fired back with a lengthy blog post on Facebook.

The panelists on 'Chelsea Lately' (weeknights, 11PM ET on E!) seemed genuinely impressed shocked by the essay's eloquence but took issue with the odd gay joke (jab? insult?) Bristol tacked on the end.

Margaret Cho Addresses Her Controversial Bristol Palin 'DWTS' Blog Post (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Dec 7th 2010 1:30PM
Margaret Cho discusses Bristol Palin on 'Access Hollywood'Margaret Cho went on 'Access Hollywood Live' (Weekdays, syndicated) today to address her controversial blog post which alleged that Bristol Palin only went on 'Dancing With the Stars' to please her mother Sarah and make up for her part in the Republican loss in the 2008 election.

Cho's theory about the Palin's intentions was that, by appearing on 'Dancing,' Bristol could replace the public's memory of her teen pregnancy and instead begin to think of her as a wholesome, dancing celebrity. Therefore, the Palin family would be more electable in 2012.

Cho admitted the post was based on gossip, but as a stand-up comedian, she said she was just saying what she thought. She likes Bristol, but not her family's politics. And if Sarah Palin is going to run, Cho added, "I wish she would just admit it, because I want to stop it."

Cho added that she's friends with Bristol, and that she's angered by those who would criticize the young woman for her weight, saying "she looks beautiful out on the dance floor."

"I hated that when it happened to me," said Cho, "so I wanted to say, she's not fat, she's a beautiful girl."

Kathy Griffin Calls Bristol Palin Fat, Is Booed by a Crowd of U.S. Soldiers (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 6th 2010 8:21AM
Kathy Griffin Calls Bristol Palin Fat, Is Booed by a Crowd of U.S. Soldiers"Let's talk about 'Dancing With the Stars'!" comedienne Kathy Griffin yelled to the crowd. Oh, can we? What shall we discuss? How Carrie Ann Inaba is of mixed Japanese, Chinese and Irish ancestry? Do we want to talk about Derek Hough's record third win on the show? Should we gab about Florence Henderson's 'Brady Bunch'-themed tango? Or are we ... going to end up talking about Bristol Palin again?

"We got two words," Griffin continued. "BRISTOL ... PALIN." Ah. We see. Kathy was performing in front of a huge crowd of soldiers for 'VH1 Divas: Salute the Troops.' (Sun., 9PM ET on VH1). But as soon as she mentioned the dreaded words "Bristol Palin," the boos started rolling in from the troops. Wait. What are we booing again? Bristol? Kathy's sailor outfit? ... Kathy's comedy routine?

It turned out that the troops were jeering Ms. Griffin's routine. "You're gonna like this," she continued gamely. "[Bristol is] the only contestant in the history of the show to actually gain weight. ... She gained like 30 pounds a week. I swear to God, it was fantastic -- she's like the white 'Precious.'"

Sarah Palin Gets Emotional While Reflecting on the Future of Her Son Trig's Life (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 29th 2010 3:11AM
Sarah Palin Gets Emotional While Reflecting on the Future of Her Son Trig's LifeOn 'Sarah Palin's Alaska' (Sun., 9PM ET on TLC), Sarah Palin's family travels to Bristol Bay, Alaska. During the trip, there's a lot of symbolism going on. The family celebrates daughter Willow's birthday, which takes place over Fourth of July weekend. In addition, the name "Bristol Bay" inspired Sarah to call her daughter Bristol. But there's more ...

Eldest son Track has returned from a tour of duty in Iraq. He wants to join the fishing industry, which his dad, Todd Palin, used to work in. Bristol Bay has the largest salmon fishery in the world -- and is home to five generations of Todd's family. (This is a lot of symbolism, right?) Now, it's time to do some fishin'! And how does that go? Not so well, actually ...

To break even, Track needs to catch 3,000 pounds of a salmon a day. Instead, he catches almost nothing. He and his dad give up and head to shore. "A big part of being a fisherman is knowing when to cut bait and run," Sarah says. Next, the family crosses the bay to visit Todd's cousin Ina, who has a son named Matthew. And Matt suffers from Down's Syndrome -- just like Trig, Sarah's youngest son.

On the 'DWTS' Scene: Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough Celebrate Their Victory

by Michael Maloney, posted Nov 24th 2010 10:00AM

Nobody -- not even the legion of fans who were keeping Bristol Palin in the competition -- puts Baby in the corner!

Jennifer Grey, who became America's sweetheart back in 1987 as teenager Baby in the film 'Dirty Dancing,' was crowned the season 11 champion of 'Dancing With the Stars' last night.

After the finale, TV Squad spoke to the winner and runners-up Kyle Massey and Bristol Palin; their respective pro partners, Derek Hough, Lacey Schwimmer and Mark Ballas; as well as returning contestants about the rollercoaster that was season 11.

Jimmy Kimmel Congratulates 'DWTS' Winner Jennifer Grey and Pranks Her About Sarah Palin's 'Revenge' (VIDEO)

Jimmy Kimmel Congratulates 'DWTS' Winner Jennifer Grey and Pranks Her About Sarah Palin's 'Revenge'Well, they had the time of their lives ... and now it's all over -- and they're the champions. Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough won the 'Dancing With the Stars' finale tonight. As part of their victory, they got a trophy and some money. But they also got to appear on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC). That's kind of a prize too -- we guess. Except that Jimmy Kimmel used the interview to give Jennifer a fake scare about Sarah Palin.

After offering his congratulations, Jimmy read a supposed Twitter message from Ms. Palin: "I smell something fishy. Shame on you, ABC!" The host paused to let this sink in. "How do you react to that?" he asked Ms. Grey. Jennifer responded with confusion and a nervous giggle. " ... Fascinating," she said. But it was lies, all lies!

In reality, Sarah Palin sent a congratulatory message soon after the show ended. (Though by "Tweeting" so quickly, she may have accidentally spoiled the result for some West Coast viewers.) At any rate, Kimmel quickly revealed his little prank. "Oh, Jimmy -- you're so cute," Jennifer said.

On the 'DWTS' Scene: Who Will Triumph in the 'Dancing With the Stars' Finale'?

by Michael Maloney, posted Nov 23rd 2010 10:10AM

They still have a few more dances to complete before the season 11 mirrorball trophy is handed out on 'Dancing With the Stars,' but the three finalist pairs have performed their highly anticipated freestyle routines.

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough paid homage in their freestyle to a song ('Do You Love Me?') from 'Dirty Dancing,' the classic film from 1987 which Grey starred in opposite the late Patrick Swayze.

Teen activist Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas danced to a tune ('Cell Block Tango') from 'Chicago,' while Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer did a hip hop-inspired freestyle to the '69 Boyz' song 'Tootsee Roll.'

Billy Bob Thornton 'Doesn't Know What's Going On' -- Missed Hearing About the Recession, Bristol Palin (VIDEO)

Billy Bob Thornton 'Doesn't Know What's Going On' -- Missed Hearing About the Recession, Bristol PalinSometimes, it's better to live in blissful innocence -- like Billy Bob Thornton's character in the movie 'Sling Blade.' Which brings us to tonight's guest on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC) ... it's Mr. Billy Bob Thornton himself!

For the past two years, Billy Bob has been touring with his rock band, The Boxmasters. During his time on the road, he hasn't paid much attention to the news.

Thornton only "watches sports" on TV, so he missed out on some stuff. For instance, he didn't know that the U.S. was experiencing a huge recession. And while Thornton did know who Sarah Palin was, he didn't know she had a daughter -- and was confused by her starring on what he called "the dancing show."

'Dancing With the Stars' Season 11, Episode 19 Recap

by Michael Pascua, posted Nov 23rd 2010 5:15AM
Derek and Jennifer Paso on DWTS['Dancing with the Stars' - 'Finale, Night One']

So, the perhaps unlikely trio of Bristol Palin, Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massey has made it to the finale of 'Dancing with the Stars'. Night One consisted of a redemption dance of the judges' choosing, and the crowd favorite, Freestyle. Every season, I hope to see something as insane as Marie Osmond's doll routine, but tonight didn't bring anything that original. Lacey's routine looked similar to the one she did with Lance Bass, Derek's looked like his freestyle with Brooke Burke, and Mark's Broadway Freestyle was previously attempted by both Mya and Donny Osmond.

Who was the person that not only gave tickets to Omorosa, but sat her next to Kyle Massey's family? Omorosa should stop sitting in the audience -- she must be convinced that her face in the audience will be enough pressure for the producers to put her on next season. If we needed a reality star, there's a long list of reality contestants who are at least relevant that I would rather have on my television. If the producers wanted a celebrity that wasted their time sitting in the audience, they should ask Jamie Lee Curtis, who's been there supporting Jennifer Grey for weeks.

Jennifer Grey Cements Place as 'Dancing' Favorite With Two Perfect Scores (VIDEO)

Jennifer Grey Cements Place as 'Dancing' Favorite With Two Perfect ScoresThere were questions to be answered on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC). Questions like: Would Jennifer and Derek remain the front-runners? Would Bristol Palin continue her improbable march to the finals? Would the ghost of Brandy haunt the studio, 'Phantom of the Opera'-style, after her bizarre elimination last week?

And tonight's show raised an additional question... what was the deal with that watermelon?

We'll get to the watermelon in a second. The theme for the show was "Redemption/Freestyle." Each pair had to re-do an older dance, followed by a routine of their choice. In both cases, Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough knocked it out of the park.

Bristol Palin: 'I Don't Pay Much Attention' to 'Dancing With the Stars' Controversy (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Nov 22nd 2010 5:35PM
Bristol Palin has certainly been a lightning rod for controversy on this season of 'Dancing with the Stars.' Last week, she advanced to the finals ahead of Brandy, who was eliminated the night after notching a perfect score on the tango.

The twenty-year-old sat down with Greta van Susteren (weekdays, 10 PM ET on Fox News) -- long the go-to media outlet of the Palin family -- and discussed how she deals with all the controversies that have surrounded her improbably long run on 'DWTS.'

"I don't pay much attention to whatever is being thrown around out there," Bristol told Greta. "I'm more focused on doing well each week, more focused on learning these dances than the controversy that's surrounding us."

Bristol's laid back attitude toward all the haters is a direct contrast to her mother Sarah, who's been known to respond in hair-Twitter fashion to even the most minuscule of perceived slights.

'Dancing With the Stars' Predictions: Who Will Win Season 11?

by Sharon Knolle, posted Nov 22nd 2010 12:05PM
Last week, we predicted that Bristol Palin could become the season 11 'Dancing With the Stars' champ. This week? Yep, she's still in the running.

We also predicted that Jennifer Grey ultimately would triumph, which is also still possible. The one thing we didn't see coming was that Kyle Massey, not Brandy Norwood, would be the third contender for the Mirror Ball.

On a season that's been this unpredictable, we size up the stars before the finale -- their best and worst dances, their strengths and weaknesses and who's got the best shot at winning.

White Powder Mailed to 'Dancing With the Stars' Was Talcum Powder

by PopEater Staff, posted Nov 22nd 2010 10:50AM
Bristol PalinThe latest 'Dancing With the Stars' mystery is over: The white powder mailed to the set last week was Talcum powder.

"An envelope containing an unknown substance was delivered to the 'Dancing With the Stars' production office on Friday evening," ABC said in a statement. "Security and the Los Angeles Fire Department and Los Angeles Police Department were immediately notified. Measures were taken to secure the area and ensure the safety of personnel. Ultimately we were advised by the LAFD that the substance was determined to be talcum powder."

This isn't the first instance of over-the-top behavior surrounding this season of the show -- a man shot his TV over Bristol Palin's fancy footwork last week.
