CBS greenlights 11th season of The Amazing Race
by Joel Keller, posted Sep 29th 2006 1:07PM
In 2000, did anyone imagine that CBS, of all networks, would have not one but two respected and critically-acclaiemd reality series that would have seasons totalling in the double-digits? Not at that time; back then CBS was the fuddy-duddy network, and reality was best left to cable networks like MTV.Of course, with Survivor and The Amazing Race, CBS is now considered to have the gold standard of reality shows. So it's no big surprise to hear that the network has greenlighted an 11th season of Race. It's getting good ratings in its new family-friendly Sunday timeslot, and it's won just about every reality-show Emmy that could be given out. So this was a no-brainer. Wonder what gimmick they're going to come up with for season 11?
Bruckheimer vs. Wolf
by Adam Finley, posted Aug 10th 2005 8:30PM
Jerry Bruckheimer is eating Wolf for breakfast. And by "Wolf" I mean "Dick Wolf" the man behind Law and Order. Also, you'll understand why I used his last name instead of his first name in my opening sentence, though that would have been much funnier. Anyway, Bruckheimer, the man who makes shows everyone but me seems to enjoy, has four shows in the top ten (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation; CSI: Miami; Cold Case; and Without a Trace) compared to just two from Wolf (Law and Order: Criminal Intent; and Law and Order). I think the next step for these two producers is clear: Join forces and rule the airwaves. I imagine something like CSI: Law and Order, or maybe A Cold Case of Law and Order in Miami.
