Reaper's Bret Harrison is all over his new project, a comedy for CBS
by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 4th 2009 12:05PM
Bret Harrison has been around television for awhile, starting on Grounded for Life. But the role that earned him the most love around these parts was that of Sam Oliver on the gone-too-soon Reaper. I was stoked that co-star Tyler Labine (Sock) so quickly found series work on FOX's forthcoming Sons of Tucson, but I worried about the rest of the cast. It was a true ensemble success. For his new project, he got a lot more hands on. Not only is he slated to star in it, but Bret Harrison co-created this legal buddy comedy for CBS. The show is about a couple of district attorneys, one young and brash, the other in his middle years. And, of course, there's always a girl. Here's an idea. How about you get Ray Wise for the elder attorney and Missy Peregrym to play the girl who comes between the two. Would that be too much?
Bradley Whitford back to NBC for buddy sitcom
by Allison Waldman, posted Oct 31st 2008 11:01AM
I like Bradley Whitford. Chances are you like Bradley Whitford, too. Who doesn't like Bradley Whitford? So, the news today that the Emmy winning star, an NBC favorite from The West Wing -- and to a lesser-extent Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (although I think he was the best thing on that program) -- is back at work for the network is a good thing. Whitford will produce and star in Off Duty, a buddy comedy series opposite Romany Malco. It'll be a single-camera style comedy, telling the story of a veteran, once legendary police detective who has fallen on hard times. He's then paired up with a younger up-and-comer, a straight shooter, played by Malco.
This sounds like a somewhat familiar formula, so what will make or break this project is the chemistry and comic fireworks between the principals.
