Brittany Snow, Aml Ameen Exit 'Harry's Law,' Chloe Sevigny Books Transgender Role and More Casting News

by Chris Harnick, posted Jun 8th 2011 10:15AM
Brittany Snow, Aml AmeenWhen 'Harry's Law' returns to NBC for a second season (yep, that's happening), it'll be missing two of its young stars.

According to TVLine, Brittany Snow and Aml Ameen have left the show as series regulars in what is reported as a "mutual decision." The two may guest star during the second season.

'Harry's Law' stars Kathy Bates as Harriet "Harry" Korn, a patent legal eagle turned defense attorney. The dramedy comes from David E. Kelley, so you know there's a quirk: Harry operates out of an old shoe store.

'American Dreams' veteran Snow played Jenna, Harry's secretary. Ameen, known for the UK series 'The Bill,' played Malcolm, a client-turned-paralegal.

Dominic Monaghan Doesn't Like Cars, Breaks the Speed Record on 'Top Gear' Anyway (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 29th 2010 8:15AM
Dominic Monaghan Doesn't Like Cars, Breaks the Speed Record on 'Top Gear' AnywayAs an actor, Dominic Monaghan specializes in playing characters who take part in an impossible quest ... of one kind or another. In 'The Lord of the Rings,' he starred as a hobbit engaged in a thousand-year struggle to destroy the One Ring of Power. On 'Lost,' he was a musician who tried to unravel the secrets of a tropical island (and who died in the process).

But on the racing show 'Top Gear' (Sun., 10PM ET on HIST), his job was much, much easier.

Dominic doesn't like cars very much -- he calls them his "least favorite form of transport." Nonetheless, on the new 'Top Gear,' he shattered the old celebrity racing record. In the process, he beat out a real-life hero: Astronaut Buzz Aldrin.

Six Reality TV Stars Who've Gone the Distance

by Jane Boursaw, posted Apr 28th 2010 12:01AM
Cloris Leachman Think about reality TV, and what usually springs to mind is a bunch of youngsters living in homes together, performing on talent shows, or trying to get their careers rolling -- sometimes all at the same time.

But let's not forget the elder statespeople who already had a stunning career behind them, only to come back into the public eye by participating in a reality show. Perhaps these celebrity veterans helped to pave the way for 'Sunset Daze,' a new show premiering April 28 at 10PM ET on WE tv that follows a group of people at a retirement community in Arizona's Sun City.

Lest you think it's all pudding and painkillers, rest assured there will be sex! Guns! Skydiving! And motorcycles!

'Dancing with the Stars' - 'Performance #2: Results' Recap

by Michael Pascua, posted Apr 7th 2010 1:22AM
Buzz Aldrin and Ashly Costa
(S10E05) The 'Dancing with the Stars' results night continues to chug along. While there was no Macy's Stars of Dance performance, we are given the information that Melissa Rycroft and Joey Fatone will be tango-ing to "Rock 'n Roll All Night." I never thought I'd hear that whole sentence together, the song doesn't even feel like the right tempo for a tango.

The results start off the bat again, and Aiden & Edtya and Erin & Maks are safe. I guess the horrible vocal performance of "Hey Soul Sister" didn't affect Aiden's voting. After fixing the opening graphics, the red room, and the co-host, somehow we couldn't hire better performers?

Len's recap had one interesting point of information: Len admits that he should have given Erin a six. I wish we also got to hear why Bruno gave Nicole a nine.

'Dancing With The Stars' - 'Performance #2' Recap

by Michael Pascua, posted Apr 6th 2010 8:52AM
Kate Gosselin dances the paso doble.
(S10E04) 'Dancing with the Stars' continues this week with three dances: Waltz, Quickstep, or Paso Doble. Along with the dances, each contestant had to create a storyline that would be told through the dance.

There was a slight readjustment of voting for the rest of the season for online voters, the voting cutoff is now 11am Eastern/8am Pacific the next day. I've never met anyone who actually voted the day after, but it is now one hour less than previously.

Professionals performance - We get an example of the three dances we see tonight, with Jonathan, Anna D., Lacey, and Dmitri. After watching the four perform, I already miss Lacey's hips. She could have had an interesting challenge with Chad or Aiden. Val, Maks' brother, also performs, and we'll probably see him on tomorrow's results show.

'Dancing with the Stars' -'Performance 1' Recap

Buzz Aldrin practices with professional Ashly Costa
(S10E01) It's the tenth season of 'Dancing with the Stars' and, shockingly, five years have past since the first performance. I'm happy to see that the show finally made some interesting changes. The opening sequence doesn't cause me to have seizures from all the kaleidoscope spins, the graphics are now different, and the couples sit in a fish tank off to the side of the stage.

Speaking of couples, the eleven couples all looked nervous as they looked down the stairs, hoping they didn't trip and fall on live television. We get to see all the contestants perform one Latin and one Ballroom performance before anyone gets eliminated. This week the contestants will have to tackle either the Cha-Cha or the Viennese Waltz.

This is the first episode for Brooke Burke as Tom's co-host. Burke did a decent job replacing Samantha Harris, but in all reality, I'm still not paying attention to the post-dance interviews.

New Cast for 'Dancing With the Stars' Revealed

by Michael Pascua, posted Mar 2nd 2010 8:00AM

Kate GosselinThe celebrity cast of 'Dancing with the Stars' Season 10 has been announced. ABC wisely trimmed the cast down from 16 to 11. Hopefully this will get rid of the unnecessary double eliminations.

On paper, this season's cast feels like the celebrities have a higher caliber. They are at least closer to B-listers than just washed-up celebrities. This balances out the reality TV stars that stretch the definition of "Star." I have come to terms with the fact that Kate Gosselin will end up on my television in one way or another with the excuse that she's doing it for her kids. The full list after the jump.

Meryl Streep, Michael Douglas Join History Documentary

by Leonard Jacobs, posted Dec 10th 2009 12:50PM
Though the U.S. is a young nation -- just 233 years old if you trace it back to the Declaration of Independence in 1776 -- the settling of the continent goes back four centuries or more.

With that in mind, the History Channel will premiere 'America: The Story of Us' in 2010, an epic 12-part series examining how this nation of average citizens, not royalty, have determined its course from the very beginning.

According to Variety, Meryl Streep and Michael Douglas are among a starry list of narrators confirmed for the series, which draws talent from Hollywood and politics. Other narrators will include former Secretary of StateColin Powell and NBC anchor Brian Williams.

Buzz Aldrin blames science fiction for lack of space travel

by Brad Trechak, posted Jul 11th 2008 3:02PM
Buzz Aldrin on the moonIn an interesting move by one of the iconic astronauts, Buzz Aldrin blamed science fiction for the lack of space flight in modern society. Aldrin currenly hosts a show for the National Geographic Channel called Unseen Moon. According to him, sci-fi fed greater expectations than realistically possible and led to a lack of interest in the general public of promoting space travel.

"I blame the fantastic and unbelievable shows about space flight and rocket ships that are on today," Aldrin said in an interview at the TCA. "All the shows where they beam people around and things like that have made young people think that that is what the space program should be doing. It's not realistic."

Numb3rs: Killer Chat

Larry and his telescope.

(S03E11) This was great Numb3rs episode. It made you think beyond just what was going on with Don and the team, especially since it dealt with such a hot topic: sex offenders. Despite the obviousness of the overall theme for this show being math, I still find it incredibly entertaining when they apply algebraic principles and theories to things that I would never think to apply them to. Credit to the writers and producing team behind Numb3rs, because the amount of research that goes into each episode must be staggering.
