'All My Children' Online: First Cast Members Announced, What Will Susan Lucci Do?
The lights will go dark for the last time in Pine Valley this week as fans bid a tearful farewell to veteran TV soap 'All My Children.'However, preparations to relaunch 'AMC' as an online series are gathering steam, and it's been announced that some cast members have agreed to stay with the show when it moves to online production.
Prospect Park, the company that's taking over from ABC in producing 'All My Children' and 'One Life to Live' issued a statement Monday confirming that Cameron Mathison, who plays Ryan Lavery, and Lindsay Hartley, who plays Dr. Cara Castillo Martin, have agreed deals to join the company's new production of 'All My Children.'
'Castle' Set Visit: Castle & Beckett Get Soapy With 'One Life to Lose' (VIDEO)
Long before 'Castle' became a ratings hit, Nathan Fillion was on 'One Life to Live.' Now Castle and Beckett are investigating a gruesome murder on the set of fictional soap 'Temptation Lane' (Mon., March 21, 10PM ET on ABC), which was actually shot on the set of real-life soap 'All My Children' with cameos from two of its stars.Does that make any sense? All you need to know is it's got everything a great 'Castle' episode should, including guest spots from some pretty cool names and a few inside jokes.
Cleverly titled 'One Life to Lose,' the episode shows Beckett (Stana Katic) and crew getting called in to investigate an axe murder -- literally -- on the set of a popular soap opera.
'AMC' star Rebecca Budig plays (you guessed it) a soap star, but her TV husband Cameron Mathison is behind the camera here, playing director, and guest star Corbin Bernsen is playing Budig's TV love interest instead.
Wendy Williams Surprises Soap Star Cameron Mathison With a Hot Dog Cart (VIDEO)
Hot dogs are indeed one of the foods most closely associated with the Big Apple. Soap star Cameron Mathison knows this full well and identified them as one of things he misses most about New York City on 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated).'All My Children' Stars Talk Weddings, Romance & Finding Erica Kane (VIDEO)
Soap operas are amazing, aren't they? Take 'All My Children' for example: Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) has been kidnapped or gone missing countless times, but it's always just as suspenseful as the first.
Erica's TV daughter Bianca (now played by Christina Lind) is back in Pine Valley to figure out what's going on and to try to "stop some major drama from going down while she's gone." Yeah, good luck with that. Especially with old flames like Ryan (Cameron Mathison) and Greenlee (Rebecca Budig) still trying to rekindle their romance. Will they? Won't they? It never gets old!
A couple that most certainly will is Amanda (Chrishell Stause) and Jake (Ricky Paull Goldin) who are having a soap opera wedding to end all soap opera weddings, complete with bachelor/bachelorette parties, the all-important cake and, yes, a trip to jail the night before. "The drama's still gonna be there with the other storylines," Stause admits. "With us I kind of like that they're giving us the heart of the show right now."
'All My Children' Stars Talk About 40 Years of Soap History
The 'AMC' crew also sorted through their evolving web of relationships and talked about the show's 40th anniversary.
'All My Children' Stars Are Answering Your Questions
Pine Valley, here we come!'All My Children' celebrated its 40th anniversary earlier this month, and now the soap opera's creator, Agnes Nixon, and cast members will answer fan questions in our Outside the Box interview.
Stars Susan Lucci, Cameron Mathison, Rebecca Budig and Bobbie Eakes will join Nixon on Tuesday, so now's the time to ask those burning questions for Erica Kane (who doesn't?) and her Pine Valley cohorts.
All My Children's 40th anniversary, a salute to Pine Valley
While we've all been struggling through this holiday lull in regular TV programming, soap fans can take solace in the fact that the action is still happening in daytime. No show has more action going for it right now than All My Children as the 40th anniversary approaches. On January 4, 2010, All My Children will turn 40 years old. In honor of the event, the celebration will be stretched over two days, Monday and Tuesday -- January 4th and 5th -- with former AMC stars Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos anchoring the festivities.
On Monday, Hayley and Mateo -- Kelly and Mark's characters -- return to Pine Valley with much fanfare. They're there to film an episode of Hayley's TV show, The Wave, because Pine Valley has been named "The Most Congenial Town in America."
Sherri Shepherd Goes Wild Over Soap Star Cameron Mathison on 'The View' (VIDEO)
Sherri Shepherd could barely contain herself when 'All My Children' star Cameron Mathison, who plays Ryan Lavery on the soap, appeared on the 'The View.' The ladies welcomed several male cast members from 'All My Children' to discuss the show's recently-announced move from NYC to LA, but it was Mathison especially who caught Shepherd's eye.

Rachael Ray to Host 'All My Children' Yard Sale
'All My Children' is moving its production from New York to Los Angeles in January -- but not everything is coming with it.In what may be every soap-lover's fantasy, the show has decided to host a yard sale to clear out some old inventory. The sale will be held this Monday, Nov. 23 from 11AM to 3PM at the Rachael Ray Studio.
Attendees take note: Ray's talk show will be taping the garage sale for a segment that will air on a future episode -- so, in other words, if you're there to buy one of Billy Clyde Tuggle's pimp hats, be prepared to have your friends and family find out about it.
Proceeds will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. To obtain a ticket, contact Karina at 917-332-3188. Cash and credit will be accepted.
Cameron Mathison would be perfect for Good Morning, America
With Diane Sawyer moving from Good Morning, America to World News Tonight, ABC is reportedly hunting around for just the right person to become the new GMA host. The names bandied about include George Stephanopoulos, Bill Weir, Chris Cuomo, David Muir and Cameron Mathison. I am telling you right now, Cameron Mathison would be perfect for Good Morning, America. While the other men mentioned are all involved in news, Cameron is on All My Children. He's an actor. But he's also an attractive performer and an ABC talent on the rise. He was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, and even though he didn't win, he won over a lot of non-soap viewers who'd never seen him before.
The 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards
For the first time in a long time, something was different about the Daytime Emmys. No, it's not that they're on in primetime; that happened years ago. What was different was the 35th Daytime Emmys opted to forgo the theater setting and seat the stars at round tables. As co-host (with All My Children's Cameron Mathison) Sherri Shepherd told the AP days before the AP, "Usually everyone is sitting in a row. This year, it'll be like a wedding. We're also going to do something so that fans will be able to get a view of what's going on at the different tables." That would be web video created by the actors at every table - table cam. Perfect for hams. The vids are at SOAPnet. For details about the show from the winners backstage, check out AOL.So did the seating arrangements make a difference? Well, it depends. Those who were there probably had a better time because there was an open bar, just like the Golden Globes. For viewers, it still looked like the Daytime Emmys, including many familiar faces winning. After a strained attempt at comedy for the opening -- blending All My Children fictional characters with The View's real hosts -- the show commenced.

TV Squad Soap Report: You judge the Emmy submissions
The Daytime Emmys are coming. The nominations have been announced and ABC plans to broadcast the award presentation on June 20 at 8 p.m. (EST) with Sherri Shephard and Cameron Mathison sharing the hosting duties. One of the things that invariably drives soap fans nuts is not being able to see the Emmy submissions; that is, the actual shows that the Blue Ribbon Panels are seeing when they choose the Emmy winner from the set of nominees. Well, in a landmark move -- one more reason to love the web -- the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has teamed with YouTube to create venue to see most of the nominating clips and judge for yourself. That's what I've done and I've decided to handicap the big Daytime Emmys contests. Tell me what you think, if you judge these clips the way I have.

Daytime Emmys hosts announced
Well, the Daytime Emmy nominations were not exactly soul-stirring -- lots of repeat nominees, the same old, same old -- so the producers of the Emmy broadcast are trying to inject something new: that means new hosts. Call them the newest odd couple. Cameron Mathison will team up with Sherri Shepherd to co-host the ABC broadcast of the 35th Annunal Daytime Emmy Awards on June 20. Not coincidentally, Cameron and Sherri are ABC stars. He's Ryan Lavery on All My Children (and a former contestant on Dancing with the Stars); she's one of the five talkers on The View. And if you think they didn't ask Whoopi Goldberg first, you don't know TV.Cameron Mathison dances into game show role
He's an actor, a pin-up hunk, he's tried Dancing With the Stars, and now he'll see what it's like to be a Jim Lange or Wink Martindale. Cameron Mathison has been tapped to host TLC's new game show Your Place or Mine? Looking at those eyes, I'd let him redecorate my abode!"I'm thrilled to be a part of TLC's first game show, and extremely excited about the fun concept," said Mathison. "I think both men and women, of all ages, are really going to enjoy the show because there's a little something in it for everyone." Yeah, TLC is pitching this as a family show. Hmm...we'll see. If it can capture the Trading Spaces vibe, they may be on the right track.
