Had a hard time coming to terms with life without 'Sex and the City?' Ever wonder what Carrie wore in high school? If so, great news: The prequel series to 'SATC' is on track to hit TV screens in fall 2012.

Rumors have been swirling all summer, but according to 'Entertainment Weekly' it's a go.

Execs over at The CW are reportedly hammering out the final details on a deal to produce a new series based on 'The Carrie Diaries,' Candace Bushnell's young adult novels about the adventures of the pre-New York Carrie Bradshaw.

The new series will be produced by 'Gossip Girl' executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, who will exec produce along with former 'Sex and the City' writer/co-producer Amy B. Harris, Bushnell and Len Goldstein. Harris will also write the adaptation.

If you thought this year's crop of new shows had some interesting names and premises, wait until next fall rolls around.

According to Deadline, NBC has bought a comedy pitch called 'My Best Friend Is A Lesbo.'

The somewhat autobiographical project from Sascha Rothchild and Randi Barnes follows two female roommates, one gay and one straight, as they deal with life, love and the pursuit of happiness.

'Gossip Girl' executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will executive produce the project along with writers Barnes and Rothchild.

The 'Sex and the City' rumors continue to swirl. The latest batch find the rumored prequel series making a home on The CW.

According to Deadline, the previously reported adaptation of Candace Bushnell's 'The Carrie Diaries' is in contention at the teen-oriented network. There are no deals in place and the report indicates talks are in very early stages. Warner Bros. TV would produce the series and 'Gossip Girl' masterminds Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage may come on board to shepherd the series. Amy Harris, a former 'Sex and the City' writer, is currently writing 'Gossip Girl' and may pen 'The Carrie Diaries' adaptation.

"Discussions are underway for 'The Carrie Diaries,' Candace Bushnell's book about Carrie Bradshaw's high school years, to find a home as a potential television series," HBO said in a statement.

Carrie Bradshaw in high school? Yes, Candace Bushnell has written the books, 'The Carrie Diaries' and 'Summer in the City,' but they may be heading to the small screen.

According to the Los Angeles Times, HBO is contemplating a 'Sex and the City' prequel based on Bushnell's books. 'The Carrie Diaries,' set in the 1980s, follows Carrie Bradshaw during her senior year of high school and her beginnings in New York City. Samantha Jones is the only other 'Sex and the City' character to appear in the novel.

Rumors of a prequel movie based on the hit HBO series starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall began flying in early August with some of Hollywood's famous starlets reportedly filling out the cast.

I just watched the Sex and the City movie for the first time last night. I was a big fan of the TV show, and I really enjoyed the movie. Just like Serenity, it's always fun when a favorite TV show makes it to the big screen.

Coincidentally, this week I also learned that there is a Sex and the City movie sequel in the works. The girls have officially signed on ... but for what? Here's where the problem lies for me: Sex and the City was a great series and a decently entertaining movie. Can they really pull it off again?

I am always wary of sequels, but this case really gets me quaking in my boots. They are so lucky they pulled the movie off as a success. I loved seeing Carrie and Big finally tie the knot, I wept for Charlotte who finally has the life she's always dreamed of, and Miranda finally came around and accepted being a part of a family. And Samantha? Well, we got to see her acknowledge her selfishness, but at least it was in character. Why should Samantha evolve? I even loved Jennifer Hudson as Carrie's assistant.

While the casting for the ladies to play the power brokers on NBC's Lipstick Jungle was imperative, no less attention was paid for the men with whom those women would be romantically entwined. For the character of Joe Bennett, the enigmatic, high-powered, complicated Prince Charming with a dark side, producers had to be looking for just the right combination of sexual appeal and sensitive undercurrent. They found the right guy when Andrew McCarthy was cast. The former Brat Packer could be the find of the TV season; the new McDreamy.

You may be interested to know that Brooke Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price return to the small screen this week in the new NBC dramedy Lipstick Jungle, based on a novel penned by SatC author, Candace Bushnell.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brooke Shields has signed on to star in the pilot, Lipstick Jungle, for NBC. It's the newest creation based on a Candace Bushnell book- she's the author of the book that sparked Sex and the City. Shields will play one of three "power-hungry professional women". Her character is the president of a movie company, and also a wife and mother of three. So naturally she's going to have plenty of time to dine and shop with her girls.

Also, Eric Balfour has landed a lead role in the CBS drama, Protect and Serve. I bet you can guess what this one is about. Balfour will play an "intense and emotional" LA cop. It's nice to see Balfour land a leading role. He has done great work in 24 and Conviction. Let's hope this opportunity is a good one and we get to see him on CBS in the fall!

I thought we were all pretty much over Carrie and her Manolo Blahniks, weren't we? Too bad. Two of the big four networks have ordered pilots similar to Sex and the City.

ABC has ordered a pilot for the embarrassingly-named Cashmere Mafia, which was created Sex executive producer Darren Star. It's described as "the next generation of Sex and the City". Oh, please let it get a better name. It's about four women who have known each other since college and follows them as they date and work to further their various careers. ABC has also ordered a pilot for Women's Murder Club, described as "CSI meets Sex and the City." It's about a group of female friends who happen to be a homicide detective, a medical examiner, a reporter, and an assistant district attorney. The pilot is going to be directed by Brett Ratner, the man who destroyed The X-Men, so don't expect much.

And finally, NBC gave the greenlight to Lipstick Jungle, based on a novel by the same name about "three powerful New York businesswomen who will do anything to get ahead," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Who's the novelist? Why, it's Candace Bushnell, of course. She's the one who created Sex and the City in the first place.
