Donald Trump's Ego is 'The Celebrity Apprentice's' Biggest Problem
by Joel Keller, posted Mar 15th 2010 7:29PM

One of the mantras that any fan of 'The Apprentice' has heard over the show's nine Donald Trump-filled seasons is that "You never know who Mr. Trump is going to fire."
It's the aspect of the show that makes it unique in the sea of reality contest shows on the air right now. There's no panel of judges conferring on who should be eliminated, no one getting the ax because they came in last. No, the outcome of each episode is purely up to Donald Trump.
And that's where the show runs into its biggest problem, especially now that celebrities are involved.
It goes without saying that Trump's got an ego that's bigger than the tower that bears his name. But he's made firing decisions in the last couple of 'Celebrity Apprentice' seasons that really made me think he was acting more like a TV producer than a shrewd businessman. And if last night's season premiere is any indication of what Trump is thinking this year, 'The Celebrity Apprentice' is going to be tough to watch.
'Celebrity Apprentice 2': Who Will Win?
by Chris Jordan, posted Mar 11th 2010 4:00PM
Fired up for a new season of 'The Celebrity Apprentice'? Fourteen celebs -- of varying levels of celebrity-dom -- are working for a bonus of $250,000 to be donated to a charity of their choice. And maybe a chance to spark up a little interest in their careers, too.Business mogul Donald Trump will do the firing once again, aided by son Donald Trump Jr., daughter Ivanka Trump and long-time adviser George H. Ross on this third season of 'Celebrity Apprentice.' The teams, incidentally, are divided by sex.
The action starts 9 PM ET Sunday on NBC. Before then, we've studied the field and calibrated who the likely winner will be.
See for yourself after the jump.
Why is Carol Leifer doing Celebrity Apprentice?
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 4th 2010 4:02PM
The cast for the next edition of Celebrity Apprentice has been officially announced, and...what a weird show this is. I think I mean that in a good way, I'm not sure. It does seem like one of those "so crazy I have to watch it" things (though I won't). Cyndi Lauper going up against Darryl Strawberry? Rod Blagojevich? Sharon Osbourne vs. Bret Michaels? Selita Ebanks vs...wait, who's Selita Ebanks again? But the name that sticks out to me is Carol Leifer. She's a writer, stand-up comic, and the inspiration for the Elaine Benes character on Seinfeld. Doesn't she seem like the type of person who would dump on reality shows (especially celebrity reality shows) rather than be on one? Then again, even Jerry Seinfeld himself isn't immune from the lure of reality shows. He's producing one that debuts later this year.
Celebrity Apprentice #3 launches on NBC March 14.

Danny told you last week that Rod Blagojevich might be in the cast of the new Celebrity Apprentice season. That's still up in the air because of his legal woes, but The NY Post does have the entire list of the new celebs even if NBC hasn't released it yet.- Sharon Osbourne
- Bret Michaels
- Cyndi Lauper
- Carol Leifer
- Bill Goldberg
- Daryl Strawberry
- Curtis Stone
- Summer Sanders
- Sinbad
- Holly Robinson Peete
- Maria Canellis
Leifer is a stand-up comic and a writer for Seinfeld. I was going to watch this just for her and then decided...no.
