EXCLUSIVE: Rick Springfield Books a Guest Spot on 'Hawaii Five-0'
by Maggie Furlong, posted Mar 9th 2011 6:30PM
'Hawaii Five-0' (Mondays, 10PM ET on CBS) has had its fair share of big name guest stars -- Dane Cook, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo, James Marsters and 'Iron Chef' Masaharu Morimoto have all stopped by.Next up? The show continues the celebrity guest star streak with none other than '80s rocker-turned-soap star Rick Springfield.
Yep, the man who famously pined after 'Jesse's Girl,' had 'General Hospital' fans swooning as Dr. Noah Drake (and his doppleganger, rockstar Eli Love) and, most recently, played an exaggerated version of himself on 'Californication' is now getting the cop drama treatment in paradise.
AOL TV has the exclusive details on Springfield's 'Five-0' role as fashion photographer Renny, who we'll meet in an episode set to air this spring.
More Casting News: Tyler Labine to CBS, Neal McDonough Replaced by 'JAG' Star
by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 30th 2010 3:06PM
I caught up with 'Sons of Tucson' the other day, and you know what? It's pretty funny! The ratings aren't that great though, which is probably one of the reasons Tyler Labine has joined the pilot of a new CBS sitcom (that's him on the right riding over to CBS to sign the contract). Labine will stay on 'Sons of Tucson' if FOX renews it. The new show is called 'True Love' and it's about four friends who live in New York (God, that a really generic description but shows aren't about plots it's about the writing). Everyone must love Labine because he has been offered this role more than once (he turned it down because 'Sons of Tucson' hadn't premiered yet). 'True Love' will also star Jason Biggs and Minka Kelly.
In other casting news, former 'JAG' star David James Elliott has replaced Neal McDonough in the pilot for ABC's 'Scoundrels.' We told you last month about this show, a "dramedy" starring Virginia Madsen as a mom who heads a family of crooks who decides to go straight after her husband is sent to jail. McDonough was going to play the husband but now he's out and Elliott is in.
'Better Off Ted' and 'Desperate Housewives' Stars Get New Shows
by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 10th 2010 3:33PM
ABC's 'Mr. Sunshine' is slowly becoming one of those shows where you say "wow, that sounds interesting." We already know that it stars Matthew Perry as a sports arena manager who rethinks his life when he turns 40 and that Allison Janney will costar with Perry. Now there's more casting news, and it involves another person who once costarred with Perry on an NBC show. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Andrea Anders, who now costars in ABC's 'Better Off Ted,' will play Perry's love interest in 'Mr. Sunshine' (sorry 'Better Off Ted' fans, but it doesn't look like that show is going to get renewed). She'll be joined by Nate Torrence, who costarred with Perry in 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip' (he played Dylan).
Jesse Metcalfe of 'Desperate Housewives' has a new show too. He'll costar in NBC's Jerry Bruckheimer drama 'Chase,' about a Texas law enforcement team.
Ed Begley Jr. takes the dean job on Veronica Mars
by Keith McDuffee, posted Aug 13th 2006 9:58AM
Alright, I stand corrected -- there now may be hope for me to find the dean of Hearst College more than mildly interesting. Fellow Mars fanatic Michael Ausiello of TV Guide has landed some juicy details about who's taken the role, now that Michael McKean has had to turn it down -- none other than fellow improv-erific Ed Begley Jr.. Begley's appeared in A Mighty Wind, just as McKean has, though you've no doubt known him for his roles in Arrested Development, St. Elsewhere, and too many more to mention. OK, I feel better now.[Thanks Karen M. O'Shea for the tip!]
