'Dog Whisperer': Finding a New Leash on Life (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 6th 2010 2:10AM
Sometimes you have to ask: Is a pet a hopeless case, or has he just not found the right home? That's the question on the latest 'Dog Whisperer' (Fri., 8PM ET on Nat Geo). Trainer Casar Millan is often the last hope for frustrated dog-owners. But in this case, the dog in question doesn't even have an owner. You might call Maury "frisky," Or you might just call him "high-strung." Or you might even call him "insanely annoying." Maury has been in and out of the local animal rescue clinic. The big brown dog just has too much energy, and he inevitably ends up biting his new owner, then winding up in the shelter again. This has been going on for two years, and the staff at rescue services are starting to think he's unadoptable. Can Maury find a home in the world?
Olivia Munn Gets Some Obedience Training From the 'Dog Whisperer' (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 12th 2010 9:35AM
Words can have double meanings. But the "Tsst!" sound is universal. It's an important lesson to learn. And on the new 'Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), reporter Olivia Munn received some instruction from Cesar Millan, the "Dog Whisperer." The Comedy Central correspondent had been reporting on a story involving cruelty to animals. In keeping with the show's satirical bent, Munn attacked a woman who opposed puppy mills in front of Mr. Millan -- one of the world's most famous dog-lovers.
Olivia complained to Cesar that she was having trouble with a "b*tch" -- which of course can also refer to a female dog. The camera then panned to the confused-looking Madeline Bernstein. Poor Ms. Bernstein was only trying to outlaw puppy mills -- commercial dog-breeding facilities that are notoriously overcrowded and inhumane.
Why I'm Obsessed With 'Dog Whisperer'
by Stephanie Earp, posted Nov 8th 2010 5:00PM

I went to see 'Cesar Millan Live.' Usually when a television writer tells you they went to a television-related event, what they mean is that a publicity contact provided them with tickets, an interview or a backstage pass. I went to see 'Cesar Millan Live,' but I bought the tickets myself.
I admit it, I love 'Dog Whisperer.' Still, when the commercials on the National Geographic Channel started running with Cesar's gleaming white smile telling me to stay calm and assertive, as he was on his way, I didn't give it much thought. But (proving that ads do work) it slowly seeped into my consciousness. What, I wondered, would Cesar do on a live stage that he couldn't do better in a taped environment? How many people would really go to an arena to see him? And finally, the thought that broke me: I wondered who on Earth would be in the audience. My curiosity to see who else would go to such a thing had me buying tickets for his Ottawa, Ontario show last week.
Rhona Mitra's Bulldog Has a 'Napoleon Complex' on 'Dog Whisperer' (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 8th 2010 12:56AM
Rhona Mitra is an English-born actress, model and singer. Naturally, her career requires her to travel all over the world. And Rhona acquired Oscar, her seven-year-old French bulldog, specifically because the breed was supposed to be good with traveling. But after a trip to South Africa, things started to go bad.In South Africa, a pit bull attacked Oscar on the beach; the rival animal pinned him down and drew blood. Now, Oscar is nervous around other dogs -- but this caution expresses itself in the form of violence.
Mitra is afraid that Oscar will escape from her yard and start a fight in her "pit bull central" neighborhood of Venice, California. So on 'Dog Whisperer' (Sun., 7PM ET on Nat Geo), the actress turns to Cesar Millan for help.
The Dog Whisperer Meets the Wolf-Dog! (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 1st 2010 12:15AM
We can handle dealing with dogs. Or at least, generally speaking, we can. But what if you met an animal ... that was something more than a dog? That's the issue for Cesar Millan on the latest 'Dog Whisperer' (Fri., 8PM ET on Nat Geo).Recently, owners have been crossing regular dogs with wolves, to create a wolf-dog hybrid. This is not necessarily a good plan, and it's outside of the range of Cesar's expertise. So "dog whisperer" Millan brings in an outside expert -- wolf-dog master Jennifer McCarthy. Cesar and Jenny are trying to deal with Sofie, an adorable wolf-dog who has a little too much energy.
TV Stars in Double Trouble on 'Dog Whisperer' (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 25th 2010 12:03AM
Casey Anderson is the star of National Geographic's 'Expedition Wild' -- a show where he co-stars with an 800-pound grizzly bear. So you'd think he'd be used to dealing with wild beasts. But on the latest 'Dog Whisperer' (Fri., 8PM ET on Nat Geo), Casey has to deal with an entirely different type of animal -- his own two pet dogs.Anderson and his wife -- actress Missi Pyle -- are having trouble with their two dogs: Dalmatian J.J. and Rottweiler mix Eleanor. If the canines are kept apart, then things are okay. But of course, J.J. and Ellie are always together -- and are always getting each other riled up. Casey can't handle it, so "dog whisperer" Cesar Millan comes in to help.
'Dog Whisperer': Saving a Dog From Death (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 18th 2010 12:38AM
Cesar Millan is known as "the dog whisperer." But often, his technique focuses on reforming human behavior, rather than on the dogs themselves. On the new episode of 'Dog Whisperer' (Fri., 8PM ET on Nat Geo), Cesar meets Jaime Crossman and her dog Chloe, a Collie/Greyhound mixed-breed.Jaime was warned of Chloe's behavior when she first got her pet. Chloe is extremely aggressive and attacks other dogs on sight. If she can't reach the other dog she takes out her frustration on her owner -- biting and nipping at Jaime's legs.
And speaking of "frustration," another animal trainer gave up on Chloe in despair. He called her a "genetic disaster" and recommended that she be put down. So the stakes are high. If Cesar can't reform Chloe, then she may be facing death.
'Dog Whisperer' Confronts Howie Mandel's Biting Canine (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Oct 11th 2010 6:40AM
Little Lola is scaring Howie Mandel. The tiny canine loves his wife but attacks everyone else. "I'm afraid for my life. It sounds like I'm kidding, but ... you don't want to come home and think that blood could be drawn," he tells Cesar Millan on 'Dog Whisperer' (Fri., 8PM ET on NAT GEO).Mandel explains to the dog-rehab specialist that he can't touch his pet, due to having OCD. Millan replies, "You can't touch physically, but you can always touch energy-wise. You know, I always say, 'No touch, no talk, no eye contact.'"
"We've been married for 30 years, and those are the three things that've gotten us through," jokes Mandel.

Fox hopes Dog Whisperer will make audiences sit up and beg
by Danny Gallagher, posted Oct 19th 2009 10:02PM
Fox is looking to turn National Geographic's Cesar Millan, aka the Dog Whisperer, into a funny idea for a sitcom. And no, that's not the part they hope is funny. The network is looking to cast That 70's Show's Wilmer Valderrama in the potential sitcom's title role, assuming it's called "The Dog Whisperer." Hung's co-executive producer Emily Kapnek will write the show's pilot.
If this gets to the air and becomes a wild success, just imagine the bar this could set for other reality show stars to get their own half-hour sitcom. Then again, try not to or your skull will cave in.
Wilmer Valderrama to Play 'Dog Whisperer' Cesar Millan
by Scott Harris, posted Oct 19th 2009 4:00PM
Since 'That 70's Show' went off the air, Wilmer Valderrama has been better known for his tabloid exploits than for his acting. Now it's time to find out if his bite can still live up to his bark in a new sitcom based on 'Dog Whisperer.'According to Variety, Valderrama has been tapped by Fox to star in a new sitcom based on the National Geographic Channel series, which follows the adventures of canine guru Cesar Millan.
Dog Whisperer celebrates 100th episode
by Jane Boursaw, posted Sep 15th 2008 9:03AM
The next time I have a panic attack, I want Cesar Millan to talk me off the ledge. He might be known as the Dog Whisperer on the National Geographic Channel, but I have a feeling he's great with humans, too. I'm sure I'd respond to his gentle "ch ch" murmurs just as well as the angry pit bulls he deals with regularly on Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan. The show celebrates its 100th episode on Sept. 19, and this household is officially hooked. There's something strangely meditative about the way he calms the dogs on that show. And, truthfully, it's not so much the dogs he works with as their nimrod human companions. Let's face it. The dogs are alright. The humans need work.
It's all about relationships, and his job, he says, is to draw out the good behavior in any given dog ("There are no killer dogs!"), and then tell the humans how to maintain it.
Dog Whisperer visits Ghost Whisperer
by Julia Ward, posted Mar 9th 2007 12:35PM
Dog Whisperer meet Ghost Whisperer. Ghost Whisperer meet Dog Whisperer. In what is either a new low or absurdly funny high in stunt casting, Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan will be guest-starring as himself on an upcoming episode of Ghost Whisperer. It looks like Homer the Ghost Dog is having problems "crossing into the light" so Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Delia (Camryn Manheim) seek Cesar's post-mortem doggy advice.Cesar is, of course, the star of his own Dog Whisperer vehicle on the National Geographic Channel. You may remember him in his animated incarnation from South Park when Cartman's mom turned to him for parenting advice. Cesar's aggressive, alpha dog methods have their detractors, but the story of his journey to the United States and daily routine today are something else. Malcolm Gladwell's New Yorker piece on Cesar if worth a look regardless of what you think of his methods. Then again, isn't anything by Malcolm Gladwell worth a look?
Pet owner sues Dog Whisperer
by Anna Johns, posted May 6th 2006 12:25PM
A Hollywood television producer is suing dog trainer Cesar Millan, aka The Dog Whisperer. The lawsuit claims that the producer's labrador retriever was injured when he was choked with a collar and forced to run on a treadmill. Flody Suarez, producer of 8 Simple Rules, said that after she dropped her dog off at Millan's training facility, she was told her dog was rushed a veterinarian. When she got to the vet, the lawsuit claims the dog was "bleeding from his mouth and nose, in an oxygen tent gasping for breath and with severe bruising to his back inner thighs."Suarez is suing because she has spent $25,000 in veterinary bills (holy smokes!) and wants the facility to pay for another surgery her dog needs to repair his esophagus. A spokesman says Cesar Millan was not at the training facility at the time and had not been personally training Suarez' dog.
