Top 5 Clips of the Week: Emmys Beauty Pageant, Sheen Roasts Himself, 'X Factor' Flasher & More (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 24th 2011 1:30PM

This week didn't let up. Between the Emmys and the start of Fall TV, it's all kind of a blur -- but there were some moments that stood out.

The Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Emmy nominees putting on a little beauty pageant warmed our jaded hearts, Charlie Harper's death on 'Two and a Half Men' was cathartic and Sheen's speech at his Comedy Central Roast was actually ... funny.

As the week moved on, we fell hook, line and sinker for the publicity stunt that was the 'X Factor' Flasher. And the final TV scene of 'All My Children,' a bizarre cliffhanger overflowing with soapy goodness, pretty much tied the whole week together.

Check out the clips after the jump to relive the week that was, and vote for your favorite in our weekly poll.

Charlie Sheen Roast Ratings Were Comedy Central Record

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 20th 2011 5:15PM
Somehow, Charlie Sheen is still winning -- in the TV ratings game, anyway.

Comedy Central's Roast of Sheen was the highest rated roast in the network's history, as 6.4 million viewers tuned in to watch Sheen skewered. Including re-airs, the total audience reached 10 million. It was the second-highest rated telecast in Comedy Central history.

Not only was the Sheen roast a ratings success on TV screens, but chatter about the event also dominated social media. According to trendrr.tv, the Roast garnered 450,000 social mentions, which dwarfed several other prime-time Fall TV premieres, including 'Dancing With the Stars' and 'Two and Half Men.'

In terms of laughs, the roast didn't disappoint. Comedians and celebrities from Jeffrey Ross to Mike Tyson to Roastmaster Seth MacFarlane gave Sheen their best shots, making fun of his drug history, public breakdown and affinity for prostitutes.

Charlie Sheen's Atonement Tour Will Culminate at the Roast, But What's Next?

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 19th 2011 3:00PM
Charlie Sheen seems like a changed man these days. After a long period of hibernation following the unhinged, manic period that got him booted off 'Two and a Half Men,' Sheen has re-emerged in recent weeks, in advance of his Comedy Central Roast (Mon., Sept. 19, 10PM ET), looking and sounding downright normal. What's made him see the light?

For starters, the guy wants to work in Hollywood again.

As his Sheen-ferno raged on, the pinnacle being his Violent Torpedo of Truth tour, he burned nearly every bridge he'd built over his almost 40-year career in the entertainment industry. He now has to convince TV networks and movie studios that they can trust him enough to even consider working with him in the future, not to mention taking on the expense of insuring someone with such highly-publicized erratic behavior.

After throwing CBS, Warner Bros., Chuck Lorre and his 'Two and a Half Men' castmates under a wildly careening bus, he's finally swallowing his pride and apologizing. But is it sincere? Is it enough? Or is it just another way to grab headlines?

Charlie and Martin Sheen Star in Hilarious 'Sheenpocalypse Now' Roast Promo (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 13th 2011 1:45PM
We've been covering a lot of Charlie Sheen roast news around here lately: the roast roster, preview clips and promo videos, but the latest, a video starring Charlie and Martin Sheen in a spoof of 'Apocalypse Now,' is by far the funniest yet.

It starts with Charlie, with his face painted in camouflage, swimming in the darkness, channeling his dad's classic 'Apocalypse Now' character Captain Benjamin J. Willard. As a voice-over of Charlie reciting his dad's famous monologue plays (with a few slight tweaks), the camera pans out, and we realize Sheen is just swimming in his backyard pool. Then his dad comes out of the house and yells at him to wash his face and get inside and tells Charlie's poolside goddesses it's time to go home as Charlie laments, "C'mon Dad!"

The video was directed by Roman Coppola, who will also direct the indie film Sheen just signed on to do called 'A Glimpse into the Mind of Charlie Swan III.' According to EW, Martin's involvement in the sketch was a last-minute decision that Charlie announced to the crew by saying, "We're going to need some lines for my father."

Check out the hilarious and oddly heartfelt video after the jump.

Charlie Sheen Roast Adds William Shatner, Kate Walsh and Jon Lovitz

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 8th 2011 3:45PM
The Charlie Sheen Roast just got a little more weird, and significantly more random. Comedy Central announced that former roastee William Shatner, in addition to 'Private Practice' actress Kate Walsh and Jon Lovitz, will be joining Mike Tyson and a slew of stand-up comedians in the public tarring and feathering of America's most embarrassing celebrity.

In addition to those stars, the network also announced that comedians Patrice O'Neal and Amy Schumer will be on the roast dias. Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash will also be there, but it's unclear whether he will be a roaster, or just take a long nap under his giant hat.

The full roast roster also includes previously-announced Roastmaster Seth MacFarlane, Mike Tyson, Steve-O, Anthony Jeselnik and RoastMaster General Jeffrey Ross.

Charlie Sheen Roast Promos: Charlie Rides the Roast Express (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Aug 30th 2011 12:20PM
Charlie Sheen has been accused of many things over the past year, but no one's ever said he isn't a self-promotional dynamo.

After yesterday's announcement that Mike Tyson would be among the esteemed roasters to skewer our depraved anti-hero, Comedy Central has followed up the news by releasing two new Roast promos.

The videos feature Sheen riding a (crazy) train, nicknamed the Roast Express, to Goddess Harbor, Warlockia, Winnington, and Tiger Valley. They're stocked with visual representations of Sheen's catchphrases, and he tries to coin a few more. "Comedy Central's trying to roast Charlie Sheen? That's like trying to duct tape the wind to the ground."

Charlie actually looks like he's in good-health, embracing the whole thing, and dare we say ... TV ready? Heaven help us all.

Denise Richards Won't Be Roasting Charlie Sheen (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 26th 2011 6:30PM
Denise Richards talks about Charlie Sheen on 'The View'Charlie Sheen's recent strange descent has been well-chronicled. But Tuesday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), Denise Richards said when she met Sheen, he was a much different person. Richards and Sheen were married for three years and have two daughters together.

Barbara Walters asked Richards if she thought she was going to change Sheen when they got together. "No, he didn't need to be changed when I met him," she said. When she met Sheen, Richards said he had been sober for three years and was a wonderful, charming person with an "amazing heart." "I was very ignorant about addiction," she said. "I wasn't educated. But I fell in love with him, and those issues weren't there."

Jeff Ross Roasts Charlie Sheen on Tour ... This Special Needs to Happen (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Apr 21st 2011 4:45PM
Just when Charlie Sheen's Violent Torpedo of Truth was headed towards complete implosion, it's been saved by comedian and Roastmaster General Jeff Ross.

For the past few nights of the tour, Ross has assumed the role of traveling roaster, saving paying audiences from having to listen to Sheen's rambling storytelling and finally giving people what they've really wanted all along: the unadulterated joy that comes from laughing your tail off at Charlie Sheen's expense.

It's a development that raises the possibility that Ross could parlay this tour into an-all out, official Friar's Club Roast on Comedy Central, which has the potential to turn into one of the most hilarious, out-of-control television events ever.
