What to Watch: September 19 - 25

by Stephanie Earp, posted Sep 19th 2011 8:00AM
Roast of Charlie Sheen - Monday September 19, 10 p.m. ET/PT, Comedy

If anyone out there is still interested in the Charlie Sheen train-wreck tour of 2011, it's making a stop on Comedy this week - about 30 weeks too late. Sheen's appearance at the Emmys proved he lost his sense of humour along with his dignity around the time he got fired from 'Two and a Half Men' but hopefully the professional comics and various celebs can keep this thing funny. Seth MacFarlane of 'Family Guy' is the ring leader, and roasters include Jon Lovitz, Kate Walsh, William Shatner and Slash.

He wished the 'Two and a Half Men' the best in their upcoming season, and thanked them for letting him be a part of eight wonderful years of TV.

Sheen then presented the Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series to Jim Parsons of 'The Big Bang Theory.'

Charlie Sheen Talks About Getting Roasted (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Sep 16th 2011 2:45PM
Charlie Sheen with Matt Lauer on 'Today'Charlie Sheen seems to have come out on the other side of his public breakdown, which culminated with his firing from the popular sitcom 'Two and A Half Men.' Speaking with Matt Lauer Friday on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC), Sheen sounded almost normal, as if he were talking about someone else who went nuts and lost his job.

Of course, he's already heard everything bad everyone could say about him, having taped his Comedy Central Roast last week. It got personal, but Sheen understood. "It was entertainment, but I think if you're gonna roast a guy like me, there can't be any boundaries," he said. "There can't be anything off limits. You know? I was sitting there, and I thought, okay, I volunteered for this. You know? And that was an odd feeling because, who would do that?"

Charlie Sheen Admits He Was Out of Control: 'I Would Have Fired My A**!' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 16th 2011 4:30AM
Charlie Sheen, 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'Maybe it's because we're on the virtual eve of the new season of 'Two and a Half Men,' and he's no longer a part of it, but a more reflective Charlie Sheen appeared on 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC).

Sheen admitted he had been out of control, and it's only when he started losing everything that it started to sink in. "I thought I could come back, you know," he said. "Kind of like you did."

"Well at least one of us got their job back," Jay Leno said, adding Sheen's catchphrase, "Winning!"

When Leno asked if he was still angry at CBS or anyone over there for what went down, Sheen responded immediately, "No, no. I'd have fired my a**, too."

Jon Cryer Doesn't Seem To Miss Charlie Sheen (VIDEO)

Jon Cryer compares Charlie Sheen and Ashton Kutcher on 'Good Day LA'Since the Charlie Sheen meltdown and his eventual split from 'Two and A Half Men,' he and Jon Cryer haven't really been in touch. With the season premiere next week, the subject is coming up more and more, and Cryer again answered questions about Sheen and his replacement, Ashton Kutcher, Thursday on 'Good Day LA' (weekdays, 9AM PT on Fox).

Cryer was asked again if he and Sheen had been in touch, and his answer hasn't changed. "God bless him, I wish him all the best," said Cryer. "But this question has come up so many times where people are like, 'Hey, is he calling you?' It's like, 'No.'"

Charlie and Martin Sheen Star in Hilarious 'Sheenpocalypse Now' Roast Promo (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 13th 2011 1:45PM
We've been covering a lot of Charlie Sheen roast news around here lately: the roast roster, preview clips and promo videos, but the latest, a video starring Charlie and Martin Sheen in a spoof of 'Apocalypse Now,' is by far the funniest yet.

It starts with Charlie, with his face painted in camouflage, swimming in the darkness, channeling his dad's classic 'Apocalypse Now' character Captain Benjamin J. Willard. As a voice-over of Charlie reciting his dad's famous monologue plays (with a few slight tweaks), the camera pans out, and we realize Sheen is just swimming in his backyard pool. Then his dad comes out of the house and yells at him to wash his face and get inside and tells Charlie's poolside goddesses it's time to go home as Charlie laments, "C'mon Dad!"

The video was directed by Roman Coppola, who will also direct the indie film Sheen just signed on to do called 'A Glimpse into the Mind of Charlie Swan III.' According to EW, Martin's involvement in the sketch was a last-minute decision that Charlie announced to the crew by saying, "We're going to need some lines for my father."

Check out the hilarious and oddly heartfelt video after the jump.

Charlie Sheen Roast Adds William Shatner, Kate Walsh and Jon Lovitz

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 8th 2011 3:45PM
The Charlie Sheen Roast just got a little more weird, and significantly more random. Comedy Central announced that former roastee William Shatner, in addition to 'Private Practice' actress Kate Walsh and Jon Lovitz, will be joining Mike Tyson and a slew of stand-up comedians in the public tarring and feathering of America's most embarrassing celebrity.

In addition to those stars, the network also announced that comedians Patrice O'Neal and Amy Schumer will be on the roast dias. Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash will also be there, but it's unclear whether he will be a roaster, or just take a long nap under his giant hat.

The full roast roster also includes previously-announced Roastmaster Seth MacFarlane, Mike Tyson, Steve-O, Anthony Jeselnik and RoastMaster General Jeffrey Ross.

Charlie Sheen Roast Promos: Charlie Rides the Roast Express (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Aug 30th 2011 12:20PM
Charlie Sheen has been accused of many things over the past year, but no one's ever said he isn't a self-promotional dynamo.

After yesterday's announcement that Mike Tyson would be among the esteemed roasters to skewer our depraved anti-hero, Comedy Central has followed up the news by releasing two new Roast promos.

The videos feature Sheen riding a (crazy) train, nicknamed the Roast Express, to Goddess Harbor, Warlockia, Winnington, and Tiger Valley. They're stocked with visual representations of Sheen's catchphrases, and he tries to coin a few more. "Comedy Central's trying to roast Charlie Sheen? That's like trying to duct tape the wind to the ground."

Charlie actually looks like he's in good-health, embracing the whole thing, and dare we say ... TV ready? Heaven help us all.

Check out the videos after the jump.

Ashton Kutcher Won't Tell Letterman How Charlie Harper Dies (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 25th 2011 3:26AM
Ashton Kutcher, 'Late Show with David Letterman'When David Letterman had Ashton Kutcher on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), he had one thing on his mind: find out how Charlie Harper dies in the upcoming season of 'Two and a Half Men.' By now everyone knows that Charlie Sheen's character is being killed off and he's being replaced by Kutcher, but we don't know how he dies.

Do we really believe Kutcher that he has no idea how they're killing him off either? It is possible, considering his character might not even be around yet when it happens, or in the immediate aftermath. It is one of the closest-held secrets in television right now.

Charlie Sheen Roast Promo: Dr. StrangeSheen Rides a Flying Torpedo of Truth (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Aug 23rd 2011 11:45AM
Comedy Central has found its visual metaphor to sum the destructive craziness of Charlie Sheen. A new promo for the better-be-epic roast of Sheen features our depraved anti-hero riding a nuclear bomb (or, in this case, a flying torpedo of truth) like a rodeo cowboy, an allusion to Stanley Kubrick's classic doomsday comedy 'Dr. Strangelove.'

After the jump, check out Sheen making like Slim Pickens' Major King Kong, and going for a nice, screaming ride before exploding into a nuclear apocalypse.

The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen, to be hosted by Seth MacFarlane, airs Mon., Sept. 19 at 10 PM ET.

'Two and a Half Men' Premiere Details: A Parade of Stars and Ex-Girlfriends?

by Chris Harnick, posted Aug 1st 2011 10:30AM
Two and a Half MenWhat's one way to drum up buzz for your show? Be super secret about your big changes. That's exactly what the producers of 'Two and a Half Men' are doing.

According to Deadline, production on the new season begins in early August and the behind-the-scenes powers are keeping details close to their chest. However, since it is Hollywood we're talking about, some secrets have slipped out.

Deadline reports a good number of Charlie Harper's (Charlie Sheen) ex-girlfriends will be in the premiere. Perhaps for a funeral? Early reports indicated Chuck Lorre was going to kill off Sheen's character so he could never return to the series.

The house owned by Sheen's character will be for sale, prompting big name celebrities -- including past and present Lorre stars -- will look at buying the home. Kutcher is rumored to be in that group and Deadline reports he could be playing himself.

Denise Richards Arm-Wrestles Ramona Singer, Talks Charlie Sheen (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 29th 2011 3:17AM
Denise Richards, 'Watch What Happens'Andy Cohen had Denise Richards and New York 'Housewife' Ramona Singer on 'Watch What Happens Live' (Thu., 11PM ET on Bravo), and what happened was a less-than-compelling arm-wrestling match between the two women. It wound up in a draw.

But Cohen did talk to Richards about her time with Charlie Sheen, and some of her stories elicited genuine shock from Singer. Particularly when she discovered that Sheen had invited her to dinner with a bunch of prostitutes.

"I asked him what part of the night did he think I wanted to be a part of," Richards said of her reaction.

"The whole thing, probably," Singer said. And actually, she's probably right.

When she met Sheen, Richards said he had been sober for three years and was a wonderful, charming person with an "amazing heart." "I was very ignorant about addiction," she said. "I wasn't educated. But I fell in love with him, and those issues weren't there."

Bookies Taking Bets on How Charlie Sheen's 'Two and a Half Men' Character Will Be Killed Off

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jul 26th 2011 6:45AM
'Two and a Half Men' nudeCharlie Sheen's very public meltdown and exit from hit sitcom 'Two and a Half Men,' plus the subsequent fallout, has occupied a lot of TV news column inches and air time this year.

Now the focus has shifted to the upcoming Sheen-less Season 9, and the big questions right now are: Just how will Chuck Lorre get rid of Sheen's character, Charlie Harper?

And, is Ashton Kutcher's character really called Raymond?

Back in June AOL TV reported that Sheen's character would be written out in a very final way, which would prevent the actor from ever returning to the series, and that one scenario under discussion involved the character driving his car off a cliff.

Now, thanks to an Irish bookmaker, fans can -- in countries where it's legal to do so, obviously -- place bets on how Charlie Harper will be killed off. And the current frontrunner, with odds of 11/10, is ... "Drives his car off a cliff."
