Burt Reynolds to Guest on 'Archer,' Queen Latifah Gets a Talk Show & More TV News

by Chris Harnick, posted Oct 31st 2011 6:30PM
Burt Reynolds ArcherBurt Reynolds is going to mess with 'Archer.'

The legendary actor will voice himself in 'The Man From Jupiter,' a January episode during Season 3 of the hit FX series. The episode title is a reference to Reynolds' home in Jupiter, Fla.

Look for Reynolds to date Agent Sterling Archer's mother and boss, Malory. Archer won't be very pleased.

"I think the only person on the planet who's a bigger fan of Burt Reynolds than me is Sterling Archer," Adam Reed, creator of 'Archer,' said in a statement. "Archer constantly tries to imitate Burt and always raves about Burt's movies and all-around awesomeness. So to have Burt recording voice-overs for the show was just amazing."

Chelsea Kane Talks 'Dancing With the Stars' on 'Wendy Williams' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted May 26th 2011 2:15PM
Chelsea Kane and Wendy Williams on 'The Wendy Williams Show'For a short time this past season, Chelsea Kane and Wendy Williams were competitors on 'Dancing With the Stars.' Today, Kane appeared on 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated) to compare their experiences. They talked about the show keeping them fit and how Kane isn't quite the Disney princess she was on 'Jonas L.A.'

Whereas Kirstie Alley has said that she lost weight on the show, Kane said she gained 10 pounds, most of it muscle. She noted she has "baby biceps" and "baby abs" now, just in time for beach season.

Kane also remembered sharing a bottle of wine with Williams' husband before a Tuesday results show. The Kane and Williams trailers faced each other on set. "I was so nervous," she said. "It's the first elimination, I know it's me, and your husband had a bottle of wine. He was like, 'You want some?' I was like, 'I'm 22, absolutely.'"

It all ended in hugs, so maybe Kane still is a little Disney.

'Dancing With the Stars' Runners-Up Visit 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted May 26th 2011 1:00PM
Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kirstie Alley on 'Live With Regis and Kelly'Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy seemed to have developed the closest relationship of any of the celebrity/dancer couples on 'Dancing With the Stars' this season, and it showed today on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated). They appeared on the show along with Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas, the other runners-up from Tuesday's results show.

Even though Alley and Chmerkovskiy lost the Mirrorball Trophy to Hines Ward, Chmerkovskiy said he was happy with how they finished. Alley, not so much. "I think you're an idiot," she said as Chmerkovskiy rolled his eyes. "When you don't get it ... I realize that it's just a Mirrorball, but I was devastated."

Ballas has already won two, one fewer than Derek Hough, who is Regis Philbin's partner of choice, should he ever get on the show.

'Dancing With the Stars' Finalists Talk About the Season (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted May 25th 2011 1:15PM
Hines Ward and Kym Johnson on 'Dancing With the Stars'Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward took home the Mirrorball Trophy last night on 'Dancing With the Stars,' and today he and his fellow finalists were on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM on ABC) talking about this past season.

Ward revealed that dancing scared him so much that he has generally avoided it altogether. "I've never danced in my whole life," he said. "I was so scared I didn't even go to my prom."

Kirstie Alley
said it was the hardest she's worked in her life, and she has the weight loss to prove it.

And to prove they hadn't had enough of dancing yet, Ward, Alley, Kym Johnson, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Chelsea Kane, Mark Ballas and the 'GMA' crew got out on a dance floor for a bit of a free-for-all. And that was after apparently taking an overnight flight to get to the show. Then again, now no one is judging them when they dance, except perhaps the audience.

'DWTS' Backstage Q&A: Hines Ward and Kym Johnson on Winning the Mirrorball Trophy!

by Michael Maloney, posted May 25th 2011 7:00AM
Kym Johnson and Hines WardWith the scores among the three finalists in 'Dancing With the Stars' being so close it was going to come down to who had the strongest fan base. In the end, the Steeler Nation, the fan base of the pro football team that Hines Ward plays for in Pittsburgh, turned out to be stronger than all the 'Cheers' and 'Disney' fans.

Ward and his partner Kym Johnson took home the coveted mirrorball trophy. Emmy-winning actress Kirstie Alley and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy came in second. Disney star Chelsea Kane and partner Mark Ballas, who was celebrating his 25th birthday yesterday, came in third.

Immediately after the show, the ballroom dance floor turned into a media frenzy. ABC publicists quickly set up a press line with a white, plastic chain-link fence, separated by poles, with press on one side, stars and dancers on the other, and a flurry of interviews began.

AOL TV was on the scene to talk to the new champions, the runner-ups and other Season 12 participants.

'Dancing With the Stars' Season 12 Finale: And the Winners Are... (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 25th 2011 2:04AM
'Dancing with the Stars' finaleGoing into this Season 12 Finale of 'Dancing With the Stars' (Tue., 9PM ET on ABC) there was one round of competitive dancing left. The votes were in, though, and it was guaranteed to be a close battle. Chelsea Kane and Hines Ward were leading the judges' scores coming into the final night, but Kirstie Alley was close behind.

It was a star-studded finale, featuring guest appearances by Sara Evans, the Black-Eyed Peas and the first televised performance by The Go-Gos in five years. But it was the finalists that people were tuning in to see.

Kane and Mark Ballas tackled a Viennese Waltz, followed by a Cha-Cha-Cha by Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and Ward and Kym Johnson did a Samba to close out the performance aspect of the season. But this round was a wash as far as the final results went, when the judges gave all three performances a perfect 30 score.

'DWTS' Backstage Q&A: Kirstie Alley, Chelsea Kane and Hines Ward Dish the Finals

by Michael Maloney, posted May 24th 2011 7:00AM
Kirstie Alley, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Kym Johnson, Hines Ward, Chelse Kane, Mark BallasMany times the winner of 'Dancing With the Stars' is predictable. Season 11's Jennifer Grey and Season 6's Kristi Yamaguchi were favored to win their respective seasons and, sure enough, both emerged as winners.

But this season, it's been nearly impossible to predict who's going to win.

Kirstie Alley trails both Chelsea Kane and Hines Ward (who are tied for first place) by a mere five points going into tonight's finale, but the former 'Cheers' actress has probably the biggest fan base of the three finalists. (Let's not forget that she played a Vulcan in fan favorite 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.')

Ward is a crowd favorite and has sports fans everywhere rooting for him. Kane, a Disney star, is likely supported by younger viewers, who may be more savvy when it comes to voting on-line.

The three finalists and their pro dance partners weighed in on their performances on last night's post-show press line, and AOL TV was on the scene to get their reactions.

Chelsea Kane Gets the Judges Too Excited to Talk on 'Dancing With the Stars' (VIDEO)

Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas, 'Dancing with the Stars'Professional dancer Mark Ballas moved one step closer to his third 'Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC) mirrorball trophy with an almost-perfect finals evening with partner Chelsea Kane. The pair tackled a Samba, but it was their freestyle routine that showcased their youthful energy and creativity.

Even self-proclaimed "fuddy-duddy" Len Goodman was taken by it. "This was so full-on. It was so much attack. It was fantastic," he said.

Carrie Ann Inaba was so excited, she couldn't even put words to her critique, having instead to get up and express herself in dance. She then joined her fellow judges in awarding the pair a perfect 30.

'Dancing With the Stars' Finalists Talk Strategy on 'GMA' (VIDEO)

Maksim Cmerkivskiy and Kirstie Alley on 'Dancing With the Stars''Dancing With the Stars' kicks off its two-part finale tonight with three celebrity dancers left standing - Hines Ward, Chelsea Kane and Kirstie Alley. The three finalists went on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM on ABC) today with their dance partners to discuss their next two days and what got them there.

Ward's partner, Kym Johnson, said the pair are comfortable with the tricks they're doing. Johnson was injured while rehearsing a few weeks ago, when Ward slipped and fell on her, straining her neck. "I'm just not doing anything with my head plunging to the floor," she said.

Alley said she has lost a few dress sizes and is almost down to her ideal size.

Kane's partner, Mark Ballas, has already won twice and will celebrate his 25th birthday tomorrow during the final show. Kane presented him with a big chocolate birthday cake, which probably won't help their preparation.

'DWTS' Backstage Q&A: Kym Johnson's 'Never Been So Scared'; Ralph Macchio Says No Finale, No 'Karate Kid' Tribute

by Michael Maloney, posted May 17th 2011 7:00AM
Kym Johnson and Hines WardThis season of 'Dancing With the Stars' has proved that you don't need polarizing reality stars, manufactured romances between celebrities and dancers, or other contrived stuff to make a compelling two hours of television on Monday nights.

The heart-stopping neck injury suffered by fan favorite Kym Johnson during rehearsal last week, judge Bruno Tonioli's censored remark to Karina Smirnoff and host Tom Bergeron's lightning fast ad-libs are providing enough drama, gasps and laughs to keep the veteran series more popular than ever.

Alas, one couple will be going home tonight and, despite Ralph Macchio earning the lowest score, there's no guarantee it will be him. The actor's vocal fan base has already voted him through one likely elimination.

TV Squad talked to the semi-finalist pairs on the post-show press line last night to get their thoughts on Monday's performance show and taking part in arguably the most competitive season of 'DWTS' so far.

Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas, 'Dancing with the Stars'After throwing out a perfect score to Hines Ward and Kym Johnson earlier in the night, the judges weren't done doling out 10s on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC). Chelsea Kane hasn't been as sensational a personality this season, but she's made up for it with beautiful work on the dance floor.

This week, Kane and Mark Ballas achieved perfection on their Rumba. "Tonight you have fulfilled your potential," Len Goodman told Kane. "You're there."

"It was romantic and erotic, but perfectly pitched," said Bruno Tonioli. "It was stunning."

'DWTS' Backstage Q&A: Romeo on His Exit, Why Kirstie Alley Really Wants to Win!

by Michael Maloney, posted May 11th 2011 7:00AM
Tom Bergeron, Brooke Burke, Romeo, Chelsie HightowerIt's always bittersweet leaving 'Dancing With the Stars,' especially right before the semi-finals. But rapper/actor Romeo, who was sent packing last night, can still hold his head up high. He and partner Chelsie Hightower gave impressive performances throughout the season.

It looked like Ralph Macchio and his partner Karina Smirnoff might be going home after an injury he received had contributed to them earning low scores from the judges on Monday. But 'The Karate Kid's fans rallied to support him and he survived to dance another day.

Romeo and Hightower walked the post-show press line to talk about their journey, and the four finalists -- Macchio, Kirstie Alley, Hines Ward and Chelsea Kane -- shared their hopes of taking home the coveted mirror ball trophy. Also, fan favorite Alley confided to TV Squad the real reason she wants to emerge as this season's victor.

'Dancing With the Stars' Week Eight Results: Who Was Eliminated? (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 11th 2011 12:40AM
Week 8 Elimination, 'Dancing with the Stars'If it were solely up to the judges on 'Dancing with the Stars' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC), Ralph Macchio would have been eliminated last night. Dancing through a knee injury, the former 'Karate Kid' star racked up 46 points from the panel across two performances, while the other four competitors stacked up from 52 to 55 points.

Luckily for Macchio, there is an audience vote element as it gave him a chance. That said, it was a pretty big hurdle for his fans to overcome. Could they come through? If so, it was going to take a huge movement from his base.

More significantly, it Team Macchio came through and saves their 'Kid,' we'd be left with a virtual toss-up from the other four celebrities. Macchio is incredibly popular on the show. Is he popular enough?
