Rachel Dratch and Cheyenne Jackson Compete Over 'Housewives' Trivia (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 25th 2011 4:48AM
Maybe somebody over at '30 Rock' should considering upping Cheyenne Jackson and Rachel Dratch to full-time status. That way neither of them would have the time to ever become such experts on the 'Real Housewives' franchise again. On 'Watch What Happens: Live' (Sun., 11PM ET on Bravo), the pair put their knowledge to the test with the "Housewives Playhouse Challenge." In it, they took turns reading quotes from various housewives to one another. The person who correctly identified the most quotes was the winner.
And while some people might automatically assume that Dratch would have the edge because surely 'Real Housewives' skews female, you'd be both wrong and surprised. Jackson nailed his answers quickly, and then when it was his turn to ask questions, he even nailed impressions of the women he was quoting.

And in hourly 'Glee' news ...Looks like another Broadway star is going to make his mark on 'Glee.' Cheyenne Jackson is joining the cast as the new coach of Vocal Adrenaline.
According to Ausiello Files, Jackson is replacing Idina Menzel's Shelby. Don't fret, Idina fans, she'll be around again, after all she is Rachel's biological mom and the new adoptive mom of Quinn and Puck's baby.
This past season, Jackson was a recurring guest star on NBC's '30 Rock.' He played a cast member of 'TGS' and love interest for Liz Lemon.
And there's even more 'Glee' news, after the jump ...

(S04E16) "Whuck?!" - Liz's shortened version of "What the F**k?"
This was one of those episodes of '30 Rock' where the Jenna and Tracy plot (yes, they seem to have plots together 97% of the time) really dragged the show down. Every line seemed forced, every scene seemed to be filled with over the top wackiness, and the whole thing just felt like desperation filler, as if even the writers knew they're running out of ideas on how to get Jenna and Tracy and Kenneth into the plot. Even Kenneth recognized it and told Pete that he has problems with Jenna and Tracy so often he should come up with a word that means the same thing, "Trennapro."
That's funny and I'm sure '30 Rock' reviewers will use that word to describe a Jenna/Tracy plot, but the rest of it just made me sigh and cross my arms (except for a couple of lines Kenneth said telling his stories). I mean, I enjoyed the killer clown mask that Chris Parnell wore in the Dr. Pepper commercial at the end of the show. Why couldn't Dr. Spaceman have been one of the plots this week?

(S04E10) "For four years I've had to make do with what passes for men around here, with their untucked shirts, boneless faces, their Stars, both Wars and Trek." - Jack
So Tina Fey got a lot of action in this special double-header. In the first episode, she did it with James Franco (and a pillow - I don't want to know more than that), and in this one she makes out with Danny. Which reminds me: we need more episodes where they actually show what's going on with TGS. We don't see many skits anymore or anything else to do with the show, just plots involving the personal lives of the characters (with the occasional plot about a problem/scheme Jack has concerning NBC and executives). I'd like to get back to more of that.
In the meantime though, this was another good episode. Facebook!

I'm glad to see Danny back on the show. He hasn't been on that much (if at all) since being hired as the new cast member, and I thought it was going to be another one of those things where we don't see him again even though he's supposed to be on TGS still. But didn't you want to hear him sing normally during the TGS Christmas show? I didn't back Pete's plan to try to make Jenna angry (really, who wants that?) and it would have been a nice, Christmas-y ending for Danny and Jenna to sing well at the end and Jenna be OK with it. Instead, we got Jenna placated yet again and Pete going crazy. Eh.
Still, it was great that they got Cheyenne Jackson's singing in the show in a couple of scenes. Maybe in a later episode fans will find out that he's actually good.

(S04E05) "He looks like all the guys in my magazines!" - janitor, about Danny
Another week, another "30 Rock isn't as good as it used to be" article. This one is from The Atlantic, of all places. The gist is this: "30 Rock used to be funny, but now it's not!" The Onion thinks so, too.
Oh, that's such crap.
I was talking to Joel about this earlier this week, and while it's probably true that the show doesn't have that "new car smell" anymore, so what? It isn't like the show is halfway through it's first season and it has fallen apart, the show is in its fourth season and it's still strong. This show has more jokes (and funny jokes) in one episode than most sitcoms have in six episodes. In fact, tonight's episode had more jokes before the opening credits than most shows have in six episodes.
And ladies, if you date a guy who doesn't think 30 Rock is still great? That's a dealbreaker.
