Chord Overstreet on His Return to 'Glee' in a Speedo

by Crystal Bell, posted Dec 5th 2011 4:20PM
chord overstreet gleeGleeks, get ready. Sam Evans is returning 'Glee', and Chord Overstreet couldn't be more excited to return to the role that made him -- and his Trouty Mouth lips -- famous.

In this week's all-new 'Glee' (Tues., Dec. 6 at 8PM ET on Fox), Sam is back -- guitar and 'Red Solo Cup' in hand -- to help the New Directions win Sectionals.

This time around, Sam ditches his football cleats for a skin-tight speedo in hopes of scoring a Letterman jacket, and a date with his ex, Mercedes. But it's not going to be easy. "She's not exactly up for just dropping her current boyfriend, so that's a little frustrating for Sam," Overstreet told AOL TV. "He never really got over her."

While Overstreet can't confirm how long he'll be sticking around McKinley, he does have an exciting project coming up. After leaving 'Glee' last summer, he went straight to the studio to start working on his acoustic pop debut album, which fans can expect sometime in 2012.

"I got a lot of great stuff done, and I'm really excited about how the finished album is going to sound," Overstreet said. "I think I'll be ready to release an album around next year."

'Glee' Cast Reveals Details of 'Weird' Backstage Antics

by Crystal Bell, posted Dec 2nd 2011 5:00PM
Glee Cast PsychiatristWhen you're part of a big ensemble TV cast, there's a lot of downtime on set. While some stars retreat to their trailers in solitude, the cast of 'Glee' has found a different way to pass time between takes.

'Glee' heartthrobs Chord Overstreet and Harry Shum Jr. recently told AOL TV about their favorite game-- "psychiatrist."

"We sit in the room and one person leaves the room and has no idea what's going on and everyone in the room has to come up with a problem that they all have," Shum told us during a recent phone interview. "Then, the 'psychiatrist' has to come in and guess what problem everyone has."

Despite the faux title, the actor says being a "psychiatrist" on the 'Glee' set is not an easy job.

Chord Overstreet GleeWelcome back, Trouty Mouth.

Chord Overstreet makes his triumphant return to 'Glee' (Tues., Dec. 13, 8PM ET on Fox) after a sudden departure.

News of Overstreet's exit broke this summer after the actor wasn't offered a series regular gig on the teen musical show. Series co-creator Ryan Murphy said Overstreet was welcome to return as a recurring guest star, but Overstreet decided to pursue his music and other acting gigs. Since leaving 'Glee' he guest starred on ABC's 'The Middle.' However, he's taken up the recurring offer and his character Sam Evans will return to help New Directions perform at Sectionals.

"We love Chord and have always said that we wanted him back," Murphy said in a statement in October. "So here's an early Christmas present for all the Gleeks -- Sam is coming back to McKinley, and just in time for sectionals!"

In preview photos below, Overstreet's character is performing for the glee club. Even his trusty guitar is back.

Chord Overstreet Returns to GleeAfter making headlines for leaving 'Glee,' Chord Overstreet is reportedly in talks to return to the hit Fox series.

According to TVLine, Overstreet and Fox are working on a deal to have Trouty Mouth return to the series in a recurring capacity.

In July, Overstreet left the series after his option to become a series regular was not picked up.

He had an offer to remain on the series as a recurring player, but decided to pursue other projects. Since then, he's popped up on ABC's 'The Middle.'

Overstreet's first episode will likely be Season 3's eighth, set to air in December. No word on how the writers plan to bring the character back.

'Glee' Co-Creator Brad Falchuk Says Chris Colfer, Lea Michele and Cory Monteith are Staying With the Show

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jul 25th 2011 7:30AM
'Glee' castIs there a little discord over in the 'Glee' camp? Last month Ryan Murphy said that several major 'Glee' cast members would be leaving the show at the end of Season 3. Their characters would graduate McKinley High and be replaced by new characters, just like in a real high school.

Makes sense, right? Well, yes and no. First, some of the actors concerned -- who are still under contract with the series -- expressed surprise at the news, with Chris Colfer saying that he'd found out via Twitter.

Then, last week Amber Riley said that the actors are all fine with the decision, and Lea Michele tweeted that "It's all part of the plan and it's all good."

Now, however, has Murphy's co-creator Brad Falchuk tossed a wrench into the works?

He told a Comic-Con audience that the characters are graduating, but they're not leaving the show: "It was never our plan or our intention to let them go. ... They are not done with the show after this season."

Oh, but he still had bad news for Sam fans: Chord Overstreet is done with the show.

Chord Overstreet Will Return to 'Glee,' Probably

by Jean Bentley, posted Jul 6th 2011 5:30PM
Chord OverstreetGleeks, don't completely freak out about this weekend's news that Chord Overstreet won't be returning to 'Glee' as a series regular in the fall. Just because the actor's series regular option wasn't picked up doesn't mean he won't appear on the show at all.

TVLine spoke to an insider, who clarified the situation: "If Chord wants to appear on 'Glee,' the choice is his. The 'Glee' writers like his Sam character, and have plans to write for him."

In fact, the 'Glee' crew is planning for his return. "He and his reps have been told that he is welcome back to 'Glee,'" the insider said, "and everyone hopes he will show up on August 10 when filming begins."

Kathie Lee and Hoda Discuss the 'Glee' Cast Shake-Up With Rob Shuter (VIDEO)

Rob Shuter talks 'Glee' on 'Today'AOL's Rob Shuter stopped by the fourth hour of 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) to kick around the news that 'Glee' actor Chord Overstreet will not be returning to the show. According to Shuter, that may be just the beginning of the cast overhaul: 'Glee' creator Ryan Murphy doesn't want his high school suspended in time with kids who never graduate, a la '90210,' and Overstreet's character Sam's departure is a reflection of that.

"He was in the season last year, he was terrific, everybody loved him," said Shuter. Nevertheless, Overstreet is gone, and there has been news that Murphy will push his other stars out when they graduate. "He said that these kids shouldn't be at school for ten years, that he wants them to graduate, he wants new cast, he wants fresh blood," said Shuter.

'Glee' Cast Shake-Up: One Heartthrob Out, Two Promoted to Series Regulars

Chord Overstreet, 'Glee'Oh, 'Glee' ... you're already on thin ice. You know that. So why are you going to take away one of the fan-favorite castmembers?

TVLine is reporting that Chord Overstreet -- who joined the cast last fall as transfer student and all-around ladies man Sam -- will not be returning as a series regular next season. That means Sam will probably be transferring out of McKinley for good, although a source did say he could return as a guest star for a few episodes.

Tonight, after receiving the news, Overstreet took to Twitter, saying: "It's been a good year. Too bad it's over. Time for summer and starting fresh."

There is a silver lining to this very dark 'Glee' cloud though: Darren Criss (Blaine) and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) will now both be full-time series regulars, starting with Season 3 this fall.

Taylor Swift was one year old when the movie first came out, but she still took to a fun revamp of it with gusto for the opening of the 'CMT Music Awards 2011' (Wed., 8PM ET on CMT).

Shania Twain played Louise to Swift's Thelma as the girls headed out on a cross-country crime spree so impressive Donald Trump wanted to harness their power to control the world.

The bit also featured some other fun guest appearances along the way, including Chord Overstreet and Kenny Rogers as a crusty old pervert.
