Is Chris Isaak Replacing Simon Cowell on 'American Idol'?

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jul 21st 2010 7:45AM
The race to be the next Simon Cowell on 'American Idol' is heating up, and singer Chris Isaak is reportedly one of the front-runners. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox is determined to replace Cowell with a well-known music industry figure, and that Isaak has met with the network twice.

Auditions for the tenth season of the smash hit show have already started with Cowell's fellow judges -- Kara DioGuardi, Ellen DeGeneres and Randy Jackson -- still on board. Speculation's been rife as to who will replace Cowell since he announced he was leaving the show, and Fox execs are reported to have met with a number of celebrities to discuss the job.

Names previously linked with the vacant seat at judges' table include Sean Combs and Quincy Jones, former judge Paula Abdul and, as a surprise late entry, Cowell's fellow Brit, Piers Morgan. Even Donald Trump threw his hat into the ring but may be too busy with his duties on 'The Apprentice' franchise for NBC.

Now all eyes are on Isaak after Peter Rice, new entertainment chairman at Fox, said that he expects the new judge to be out on the auditions roadshow in early September.

Most Awkward Award Show Moments (VIDEO)

by Mike Scalise, posted Jan 8th 2010 4:00PM
First she did a twirly hug, then made an odd, slurry joke about a kitten, spoke at a rate of about one word per minute and seemed to have her own personal hype man ('Precious' director Lee Daniels). And what did we do while we watched Mariah Carey's acceptance speech for Breakthrough Actress at last weekend's Palm Springs Film Festival?

We winced. We cringed. Then we watched it again.

Carey's, uh, loosened speech was the first genuinely awkward moment this award show season, but there were many actors, filmmakers, and musicians before her who've heard their name called, stepped to the podium, and made things a little weird for everyone.

Chris Isaak gets a wicked new show on Bio Channel

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 10th 2008 3:02PM

Chris IsaakLooks like The Biography Bio Channel is trying to make a name for themselves outside of the usual programming they have. First they signed Williams Shatner to do his own talk show, called Raw Nerve, and now they've signed musician/actor Chris Isaak to host his own talk show too, The Chris Isaak Hour.

This should be fun, because Isaak is a funny, likable guy and can probably get some cool guests/bands that you don't usually see on talk shows. And I'd much rather see him do this than those guest spots he's been doing on Extra (or is it Access Hollywood? All those shows tend to run together on the schedule and in the mind.)

All Brett wants for Festivus

by Brett Love, posted Dec 22nd 2006 10:03AM
Paula Marshall - Jeremy Piven - CupidAh Festivus, it's a magical time of the year. Hurricanes, week long power outages, how can you not be in the mood to celebrate? While my real world desires would lean more toward the practical, like a generator, so the next time 5000 trees get thrown on the power lines I don't have to miss Las Vegas, Dr. Who and South of Nowhere, these are some of my TV universe wishes for the coming year.

TV on DVD - Every week I read Bob's list of the new DVD releases, and every week I have the same reaction. How can THAT be coming out on DVD but none of my top 5 most wanted are? Seriously, there is more of a market for the Stacked DVD than any of these? I'm not greedy. I'll settle for just one of these shows to finally get the DVD set it deserves. Cupid, Beggars and Choosers, Going To California, Maximum Bob, or Mr & Mrs Smith.
