What You Missed Last Night: Jimmy Fallon teaches you how to wrap gifts (in 1984)

by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 17th 2009 5:02PM
So it's Christmas and you don't know how to wrap that special something that you bought for your special someone. Last night Jimmy Fallon pulled out an old videotape that a production company made in the '80s that show you how to wrap Christmas gifts (tip: don't give anyone anything that's round). I'm not sure if it's realistic that Fallon could have hosted a talk show 25 years ago, but the production recreation is well done.

TV Squad's guide to spending your holiday loot: Collectibles and promo stuff

Nathan stampDid you get money for Christmas? I don't get money for Christmas anymore. Gift cards have become the money substitute now, for both adults and kids. But if you did get cash for Christmas, or maybe you got a Christmas bonus or maybe you got cash back for that ugly sweater Aunt Sally bought you, here's a guide to some TV show promotional items and other collectibles you might want to buy.

Heroes stamps. Yup, these are official U.S. stamps, and they come with a pic (actually, Isaac-ish drawing) of your favorite hero. Right now they have Claire, Nathan, Hiro, Peter, and also that mysterious helix symbol. What, no Syler?

What to get Jim Halpert for Christmas

John KrasinskiThis is the kind of advertising that I hate. It disguises itself as some sort of pop culture piece, one that's tied into the holiday season, but it's really just a way to mention a lot of products, list the company web site, and get some advertising in. It's Entertainment Weekly's Holiday Gift Guide, where they pick a celebrity or TV/movie character and list items you could get for that person. You know it's bogus because the gifts picked are either ridiculously obvious or don't really make any sense at all.

Giving Glam: Project Runway Barbie

by Lacy Hall, posted Dec 20th 2005 8:36AM

barbiedollOn last week's episode of Project Runway, Nick Verreos won the Barbie competition, which meant that his winning design would be transformed into a limited edition My Scene Barbie (cough, cough...rip-off Bratz doll). Well, Heidi hussled her little German ass off, and got the doll ready for Festivus. Okay, not really. Pre-ordering for the doll is available on the Project Runway website for $24.95, but it won't be ready to ship-out until January 20th. So it's one of those gifts you'll have to wrap-up a picture of and promise that it's "on its way."

**Note to my Mom- Under no circumstances, do I want this for Christmas, my birthday, or any other major gift-giving holiday.
