Jon Hamm Talks Superman Rumors on 'Regis and Kelly' (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Sep 16th 2010 2:30PM
On 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated), 'Mad Men' star Jon Hamm discussed rumors that he's up for the role of Superman in Christopher Nolan's reboot of the superhero franchise. Hamm chalked the rumors up to Internet speculation, but seemed interested in portraying the Man of Steel nevertheless.'Inception' Would Make a Great Television Series
by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 22nd 2010 3:02PM
There have been a lot of film-to-television adaptations. Just last season we had two attempts at finding big-screen gold on the small screen, with 'Eastwick' fizzling and 'Parenthood' eking out a season renewal. But why reach so far back when there's a great big movie in the multiplexes right now that's blowing people's minds, and could do it again on a weekly basis?'Inception' is a film that works because it's a perfect blend of character and concept. Critics wondered if it was too "smart" for audiences, and it's true that the film doesn't hold your hand as it weaves its way through a multi-layered narrative. But with a $62.7 million dollar opening weekend atop the box office, clearly audiences could handle its big ideas.
And its because of the brilliance of those big ideas that 'Inception' could be the foundation for a fantastic television series.
MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING for this entire article!! We recommend you go see the film and then come back so we can talk properly.

by Allison Waldman, posted Aug 19th 2009 3:02PM

While we're anxiously -- and optimistically -- awaiting the AMC remake of the classic Patrick McGoohan spy series The Prisoner, filmmaker Christopher Nolan has abandoned a big screen version of The Prisoner. Nolan reportedly will concentrate instead on a third Batman movie.
Cinematical, TV Squad's detached fraternal siamese twin, also at Comic-Con

Even though TV Squad's very own John Scott Lewinski is fighting his way through hordes of overweight Rorschachs and pre-pubescent Chun Lis to get exclusive interviews and scoops on the newest TV news at the San Diego Comic Con, don't forget that our partners-in-crime from Cinematical are also there covering the latest flim-flam in film.
The movie side of the annual pop-culture cavalcade opened with one of the biggest names in the history of film and what could very well be one of the biggest names in the future of film. Director James Cameron screened a solid 25 minutes of his forthcoming sci-fi epic Avatar. Blogger Todd Gilchrist got a hint of the plot and special effects movie-goers can expect when the film hits theaters later this year and said it "promises to be both hugely entertaining and technically groundbreaking." Man, that's got me worried. That's what they also said about Titanic.
Right Now on Cinematical

The folks at our sister site Cinematical are working hard to give you news and reviews of the best -- and worst -- the silver screen has to offer. Here are some of their musings on the latest blockbusters, indies, and everything in between:- Chuck's Zachary Levi is in a movie! He plays Ray, a half-Pakistani/half-white actor trying to make it in Hollywood and dating Life's Sarah Shahi. It's a TV bonanza! Check out the trailers for Shades of Ray over on Cinematical.
- I knew that The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan collaborated with his brother on the script for Memento, but it's his other brother who is wanted for kidnapping and murder. Get the details on Cinematical.
- With the economy in the crapper, nobody really gives a crap about the environment at the moment, but you can still do some good. If you buy a ticket to Earth on its opening weekend, Disney will plant a tree in your name.
- I really want I Love You, Man to be good. Read Cinematical's review to see if it's worth seeing this weekend.
- ...Or if Bromances aren't your thing, you can check out Julia Roberts' return to the big screen in Duplicity--but check out Cinematical's review first.
Goodbye, show about the Boy Wonder that nobody wanted to see
by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 7th 2008 2:27PM
Last month we told you how The CW had given a green light for a pilot for a new show called The Graysons, which would be the story of Dick Grayson and his life before he became Robin, The Boy Wonder, Batman's sidekick. Now it looks like the network and Warner Brothers have scrapped those plans.Variety is using the word "forced" when it describes why the project came to a halt. Seems that The CW and Warner Brothers never had clearance to go ahead with the show in the first place, and Batman Begins/Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan wasn't too thrilled with having a Batman-based TV show on the air while he's also doing the movies (though he had nothing to do with the show being pulled).
The Five: Reasons I won't be watching The Prisoner TV remake
by Julia Ward, posted Dec 20th 2006 2:27PM
I'm not the kind of person who gets her panties in a twist over a favorite book being brought to the screen, a movie being turned into a television series or Shakespeare getting a modern revamp. Different mediums. Different stories. Different times. In the hands of the right artist, you get an equally exciting cultural product to hug, love, squeeze and call "George." Even crappy re-tellings don't have to denigrate the original. They're not necessary - High Fidelity didn't need to be a Broadway musical; Gus Van Sant didn't need to remake Psycho shot-for-shot; and no one needs to see The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. But, for the most part, these things come and go. They haven't bothered me any... until now.TV Squad Hot Topics
