• I have zero interest in the Saw franchise, but Paranormal Activity looks super-creepy. Apparently America agrees with me, because Paranormal Activity beat Saw VI at the box office on Friday.
• I remember renting the 1988 version of The Blob on VHS from our library when I was a kid. Now you can see it for free, just like I did! Except instead of VHS, you can totally watch The Blob on SlashControl.
• Vampires may be the new hot thing, and as Jenna Maroney told us on 30 Rock, werewolves may be next, but after that? Witches are the new hotness.
• I've always felt a kinship with Amelia Earhart, ever since I put on my mom's riding pants, boots, scarf, and a short wig for biography day in the 5th grade. So maybe that's kind of a sad reason to want to see Amelia, but there it is. You can read Cinematical's review of Amelia here.
• Speaking of Amelia Earhart, Cinematical Seven has 7 biopics worthy of their subject. And Amelia isn't the only film on the list featuring Hilary Swank.

• I love a good scary movie, and it seems as though the upcoming Paranormal Activity fits the bill. Cinematical interviews writer-director Oren Peli.
• The movie Burlesque sounds absolutely insane: Cristina Aguilera, Cher, Stanley Tucci, and now Veronica Mars herself, Kristen Bell has joined the cast.

• I've recently become obsessed with Video On Demand, both through Netflix and through my cable company, so I'm excited that its future is being discussed at Fantastic Fest. I want more available now, please!
• "Why TV is (sometimes) better than the movies:" Whaaaa? I mean, I totally agree, but this isn't something I expected to see on Cinematical.
• OMG I want to see Zombieland so badly. It's like someone snuck into my brain and said, "Hey Kona, I want to make a movie exactly for you." I'm planning on seeing it this weekend, and I can only hope that it won't let me down. You can read Cinematical's Zombieland review here.
• Everything I've heard about Mo'Nique's performance in Precious is that she is AMAZING. So the idea that she should be denied an Oscar nomination because she is reportedly skipping press events for the film is asinine. If she deserves it, she deserves it-- whether or not she wants to play the game.
• I understand why Michael Moore is inviting jobless and homeless folks to a screening of his new film, Capitalism: A Love Story, but do they really need to sit in a theater for two hours and relive how the government and Wall Street screwed them?

• The $3.50 surcharge for 3-D movies is annoying enough. I absolutely do not need designer 3-D glasses.

• I do not ever, under any circumstances, wish to see Andy Griffith's "O" face. But if you're into that kind of thing, here ya go.
• For all of you Twihards out there: Cinematical has new images from New Moon.
• "Okay. It's like The Blob, but you know, without the blob thing. But it's totally a remake of The Blob. Get it?" It sounds like that's kind of how Rob Zombie's movie pitch went.
• I'm going to see The Final Destination this weekend. I have never seen any of the other movies in the series, and I do not give a single crap about the "plot" or "characters." The point is, it is in 3-D and there are crazy body parts flying around and people getting killed in very awkward ways. Movie WIN.
• Cinematical is not very happy about the Heathers TV show that is in the works.

• I just saw a trailer for District 9 in front of Funny People, but I'm not sure if it completely grabbed me. Cinematical says otherwise though. They discuss that movie, as well as Lovely Bones and The Hobbit when they spent an evening with Peter Jackson recently.
• I also saw the trailer recently for Aliens in the Attic. It looked... forgettable. Apparently, I'm not wrong.
• This Fan Rant wants lazy parents to stop blaming the MPAA. I wholeheartedly agree.
• I really don't know why we would need a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but apparently Hollywood thinks we do, and Rob Marshall may direct it.
• When I went to see Funny People last night, the ticket taker said, "Are you sure you want to see that movie? It's not good." I really enjoyed it, and so did Cinematical. What did you think?

The movie side of the annual pop-culture cavalcade opened with one of the biggest names in the history of film and what could very well be one of the biggest names in the future of film. Director James Cameron screened a solid 25 minutes of his forthcoming sci-fi epic Avatar. Blogger Todd Gilchrist got a hint of the plot and special effects movie-goers can expect when the film hits theaters later this year and said it "promises to be both hugely entertaining and technically groundbreaking." Man, that's got me worried. That's what they also said about Titanic.

• The last thing in the world I need is more tiny crap to fall into my purse's black, gaping maw, so the idea of movies on USB drives doesn't really appeal to me, but I can see how some people may be into it.
• I've seen several trailers for G-Force, and it looks like a completely awful kids' movie, but the cast is amazing. Zack Galifianakis, Tracy Morgan, and Will Arnett? I don't understand what is going on here at all. See if you can make some sense of it with Cinematical's review of G-Force.
• Hot Tub Time Machine: "It could very well be the most awesomest hot tub time machine-related film ever made in the history of hot tub time machine films." I don't even know what to say about this. You can check out the teaser on Cinematical.
• I still don't really understand the appeal of sparkly vampires (I'm more of a zombie girl, myself), but in case it's your bag, you can check out the highlights of the New Moon panel at San Diego Comic Con.
• Oh my God, I totally agree with #1 on the Cinematical Seven: Creepy Kids on Film. The Bad Seed is horrifying.

• I have never been so terrified to see a movie until I started reading about Food, Inc. There are some things that I feel I have to learn about, but I'm just so scared to. Read Cinematical's review of Food, Inc. and see if you're as terrified as I am.
• I think it was Rob Huebel who Tweeted the other day something along the lines of, "If John Travolta called me personally and told me to go see The Taking of Pelham 123, I wouldn't go. And I'd ask how he got my number." I couldn't agree more. Read the review here.
• I actually didn't like the train scene in Spiderman 2. Cinematical disagrees with me though, and lists it on their Cinematical Seven: Terrific Train Thrills.
• I love this list: Great Movies You Won't Watch More Than Once. There are so many for me, and I definitely agree with the majority's consensus of Requiem for a Dream. Once was more than enough for me.
• Angelina Jolie doesn't need to worry about being replaced anymore. Turns out, Megan Fox doesn't actually exist, and is all CGI.

• I'm always up for a good Dwight Schrute bobblehead, but a Terminator one? I'm not sure I really get the appeal there.
• I get more than enough of Evangeline Lily on Lost, so I'm definitely not sitting around wishing she was in more movies. However, she made the Cinematical Seven: TV Stars Who Should Be In More Movies (female edition) list. See who else made it over at Cinematical.
• Apparently fans have been up in arms about Jonah Hill remaking 21 Jump Street, saying that he was going to make it into a comedy. I loved 21 Jump Street, and I had no idea it wasn't a comedy already.
• I haven't seen Sam Raimi's newest horror flick, Drag Me To Hell yet, but I fully intend to. See what rating Cinematical readers are giving it.
• Cinematical is even suggesting you make it a double-feature weekend, seeing both Drag Me to Hell and Pixar's latest film, Up. Having seen Up, I highly recommend this. It is an amazing movie that will have you in tears throughout the entire thing (but was still really funny!).
