Michelle Obama's Brother on 'The Colbert Report' (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Apr 22nd 2010 4:30AM
Craig Robinson -- brother of Michelle Obama -- appeared on 'The Colbert Report' (weeknights, 11:30 PM on Comedy Central). Upon meeting his guest, Stephen Colbert commented on Robinson's resemblance to his sister. "I've met [Michelle]," Colbert said. "And I have to say that you guys look a lot alike." Colbert then suggested that Robinson should put on a wig to disguise himself as the First Lady.Watch the video after the jump.
What You Missed Last Night: Stephen and Ed Colbert At The Olympics
by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 23rd 2010 2:02PM
The commentary and analysis of The Olympics is more interesting than the Olympics themselves, like Joel's post about 'Today' and their coverage of the Games and the one about the ratings. Also, this clip from 'The Colbert Report.' Stephen is doing his shows this week from Vancouver, and last night he had his brother (an attorney) on to let him know what he can and cannot say about the Olympics so NBC doesn't get sue him.

Stephen Colbert scores cover ink with SI
by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 15th 2009 1:29PM
Man, I wish I was Stephen Colbert. No, you don't understand. I REALLY wish I was Stephen Colbert. If I ever become a celebrity stalker who's ultimate goal is to obtain the essence of my beloved targets by peeling the skin off their bodies and wearing it as a full body scuba diving suit, Colbert would be at the top of my list.
Now I can add another reason to that creepy list I keep hidden away in my heating vent. His and the Colbert Nation's recent efforts to fund the U.S. Olympics' speed skating team for the 2010 Winter Olympics have earned him a sport on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
All I can say about it is one thing: thank you. Yes, thank you uncredited SI photographer for strategically positioning Colbert's elbow over his crotch as he posed in that skin tight speed suit. Or rather, America thanks you.
What You Missed Last Night: the craziest f**cking thing (and one of the more disgusting)
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 8th 2009 1:02PM
Stephen Colbert has a regular feature where he discusses "the craziest f**cking thing I've ever heard," and last night it was also one of the more disgusting, about some sort of creature found off of New Jersey that attaches itself to another animal's tongue and...well, watch it for yourself.

What You Missed Last Night: Colbert "defends" Barney Frank
by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 11th 2009 12:37PM
Yesterday we showed you a clip of Wolf Blitzer and Lou Dobbs talking about the 2007 arrest of Barney Frank's partner for growing pot plants at their home in Maine. Last night Stephen Colbert defended Frank. Well, sort of.

I demand an apology from Stephen Colbert
by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 15th 2009 2:25PM
Dear Stephen,I was going to start this letter by telling you how much of a fan I am of you and your show. But I'm sure you already know that, right? You probably cannot conceive of a TV viewer who doesn't like your show, so my love of everything you do probably comes as no surprise to you. But last night you did something that hurt me and several of my friends deeply.
You made a joke about the Gorton's fisherman being kidnapped and said that he was in Maine. He's not, he's in Massachusetts. I should know because I grew up a mile from Gorton's and devoured their fish sticks every week (now with crispier breading!).
What You Missed Last Night: Colbert and the giant cross
by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 14th 2009 2:35PM
The Word is one of the best segments of The Colbert Report, and last night Colbert ranted about a large cross in the Mojave Desert that is causing some controversy.
Oh, and if you're wondering why Colbert is wearing a blond wig at the start of this segment, you can watch the entire episode at Slashcontrol.

What You Missed Last Night: Colbert wants you to edit the web again
by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 8th 2009 3:40PM
Remember a while back when Stephen Colbert wanted you to go to Wikipedia and actually edit things on his page? Well, he's at it again. He wants fans to go to the conservative site Conservapedia and add him as a character in the Bible! Look at the note that the site has:
Special message to the Colbert show watchers: do yourselves a favor and watch less television. Colbert and his advertisers want to make money off you, but you can accomplish some good instead by unplugging the TV. You could even pick up a Bible.

Colbert on the people who didn't want the Olympics in Chicago
by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 6th 2009 4:27PM
I don't usually watch the Olympics, so it wasn't too devastating to me that Chicago lost out to Rio De Janiero in the bid to host the 2016 games. But that doesn't mean I was rooting against Chicago, like some people were, as this clip from last night's Colbert Report shows.

What You Missed Last Night: Stephen Colbert can't stop laughing
by Bob Sassone, posted Sep 30th 2009 2:29PM
This won't come as news to fans of The Colbert Report, but it's actually a brilliant little show. The writing on it is so well-done (which isn't easy to do four days a week), and Colbert really gives an incredible "performance" as this character Stephen Colbert. He's dedicated to it, and every episode is like a gem of writing and performance art.
Last night he talked about a new tobacco product on the market, and at one point he can't even speak. (Video also here.)

Stephen Colbert takes on Facebook and "death panels"
by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 11th 2009 5:00PM
The big debate right now regarding the healthcare plan is the concept of "death panels." Not sure where or when this first came up, though last night, Stephen Colbert pointed out it was from Sarah Palin's recent Facebook posting that brought it to the public.
The scary part? The reality competition show that Colbert mentions at the end of the clip is something that we'll probably see at some point.

What You Missed Last Night: Birthday Sex
by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 7th 2009 2:28PM
I don't understand the decisions that public school systems make sometimes, like the Chicago Public Schools deciding that the guy who sings the song "Birthday Sex" would be a good choice for a back-to-school promotion. Stephen Colbert doesn't get it either.

What You Missed Last Night: the Colbert Bump
by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 5th 2009 3:31PM
We don't have many posts on TV Squad about cocktails. I've been trying to convince people that we need more booze on the site, but they won't listen to me. Probably because I'm usually drunk when I say it.
Last night Stephen Colbert had Esquire's cocktail guy David Wondrich on, and he created a summer drink for the show, The Colbert Bump. It includes cherry brandy, gin, lemon juice, and soda water. (Video also here.)

Stephen Colbert doesn't want his Sprite taxed
by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 4th 2009 11:30AM
There's a lot of talk about healthcare these days (duh), and one of the ideas that is being proposed (or at least the idea of it being proposed is out there) is the taxing of soda. I drink a ton of diet soda, but it seems to me that some people think doing this means the end of the Earth. Stephen Colbert isn't going to stand for any new soda tax. (Video also here.)
There's nothing more dangerous than an unemployed Wilford Brimley
by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 24th 2009 2:33PM
Whether you like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report or not, you have to be impressed by the speed at which they create some really funny things very quickly. This clip from The Colbert Report talks about the threats posed by Bill Gates, Henry Louis Gates, President Obama, and a certain old diabetic.
