Stephen Colbert Proves Loving Christmas Isn't a Choice (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 9th 2011 4:30AM
'The Colbert Report'In response to Rick Perry's ad where he says the fact that "gays can serve openly in the military, but our kids can't openly celebrate Christmas" is a sign that there's something wrong in America, Stephen Colbert wanted to say that he's not ashamed to admit he loves Christmas.

After explaining in detail how loving Christmas isn't a choice, he brought out two men dressed as Santa on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central) to prove his love for the holiday.

He then lowered mistletoe over them, and as proud Christmas-loving men, they did what tradition dictates people must do under mistletoe.

Jon Stewart Responds to Bill O'Reilly Saying He 'Is Going to Hell' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 9th 2011 4:00AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Wednesday night on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), Jon Stewart took issue with Fox News' coverage of a war against Christmas. He said then, "If there has been a war, then Christmas is the aggressor nation." Stewart is referring to all the other religions that have been pushed aside by Christmas.

Bill O'Reilly took to the airwaves to respond to what Stewart said, making a particularly bold statement along the way. "Now there is no question that Mr. Stewart is going to hell," he said abruptly in the middle of his discourse.

"I make my living watching Fox News eight hours a day," Stewart retorted on his show. "I'm already in hell."

by Catherine Lawson, posted Dec 8th 2011 7:45AM
Ballet on 'The Colbert Report'Stephen Colbert is a man of many, many talents, but who know he was such a great ballet dancer? Last night 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights., 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central) host showed off some truly impressive jumps and twirls as he managed to keep up with American Ballet Theater star David Hallberg.

He even managed a lift before receiving a well-deserved ovation from the studio audience. As he took a bow, they cheered and threw flowers onto the stage, just like they would at the ABT.

Imagining Herman Cain vs. Lord Voldemort on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Dec 8th 2011 7:30AM
Ralph Fiennes, 'Daily Show'Last night classically trained actor Ralph Fiennes -- a.k.a. Lord Voldemort in the 'Harry Potter' movies -- stopped by 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights., 11PM ET on Comedy Central) and, frankly, things got a little weird.

Host Jon Stewart asked Fiennes for his opinion on who would win in the unlikely event that former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain went up against Voldemort: "If they were in a sword fight, in your mind, who would be the victor?"

Fiennes pondered this briefly before saucily quipping, "Depends on the length of the wand."

Stephen Colbert Wants to Host a Republican Presidential Debate (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 7th 2011 4:00AM
'The Colbert Report'With news breaking that Donald Trump is planning to host a Republican presidential debate, Stephen Colbert decided on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central) that he was going to host one as well. Only his was going to be even more outrageous than Trump's, as he proved in a very long, detailed -- and only somewhat crazy -- rant.

He said it would air on Animal Planet and be some time in January, which means he really hasn't put much forethought into it, much like his 'March to Keep Fear Alive.' In that case, he wound up tagging along on Jon Stewart's 'Rally to Restore Sanity,' and the double event was a huge success.

Jonah Hill Tries to Convince Stewart That Brad Pitt Is a Nice Guy (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 7th 2011 3:30AM
Jonah Hill, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'While both men agreed they wished Brad Pitt was a huge jerk, Jonah Hill tried to convince Jon Stewart that it simply wasn't so. How could a man be that handsome and a great guy? Alas, according to Hill on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), that's exactly what he is.

He even let Hill stay in his house in New Orleans for months while Hill was filming a movie. Hill did admit to having a lot of fun with the tourists who were stopping to see the famous Brad Pitt house. They'd get all psyched when he pulled up, and then confused and let down to see that it was just him.

When Stewart asked if Angelina Jolie was staying at the house as well -- was Pitt that nice? -- Hill had to admit that there is a limit to what Pitt was willing to give.

Jon Stewart on the Loss of Herman Cain, Comedy Goldmine (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 6th 2011 3:30AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'From a comedy standpoint, it's easy to see why Jon Stewart is incredibly disappointed to see Herman Cain suspending his campaign for presidency. But up to the last minute, he remained comic gold. On 'The Daily Show' (11PM ET on Comedy Central), Stewart pulled up the video of the speech in which Cain made the announcement.

First, he had himself introduced before he'd even arrived -- or intended for his introduction to mean his bus. But the kicker was when he decided to placate his saddened supporters with an inspirational quote. An inspirational quote he selected from a movie ... well, from the closing theme song of the movie.

Bob Costas Talks About His Interview With Jerry Sandusky on 'Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 2nd 2011 3:30AM
Bob Costas, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'If you were nearly dumbfounded by Jerry Sandusky's telephone interview with Bob Costas, you weren't alone. On 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), Costas admitted he was surprised Sandusky's lawyer suggested it, and even more flabbergasted by how raw it turned out to be.

In an era where interviews are so packaged, and the interview subject is so prepared as to be almost scripted, this interview was a real anomaly. Both Costas and Jon Stewart talked about Sandusky's delay in definitively saying "no" to the question of him being sexually attracted to young boys, but he was very quick to say he wasn't a pedophile.

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 1st 2011 3:30AM
Bono, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Bono stopped by 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) to talk about the (RED) campaign. It's a program helping to stop the spread of HIV and try to stop AIDS in its tracks, and they've made tremendous strides.

What (RED) does is make it easier than ever for people to get involved. Bono explained, "Sometimes people, you know, it's too complicated. They don't want to put on the marching boots. They just say how do I help?"

TV Stars Pay Tribute to Patrice O'Neal, Comedy Central to Air Stand-Up Special

by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 30th 2011 5:45AM
Patrice O'NealPatrice O'Neal's untimely death at the age of 41 has left the world of comedy in mourning. Since the news broke Tuesday a flood of tributes to the comedian have poured out from TV stars and celebrities including Charlie Sheen, Sarah Silverman, Questlove, Dane Cook, Ricky Gervais and Kevin Nealon.

Plus, a Comedy Central spokesman told TMZ that the network is "broken up" by the news and will pay tribute by re-airing O'Neal's stand-up special 'Elephant in the Room' tonight.

O'Neal's last national TV performance was at the Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen, and his mocking of Sheen was considered to be one of the highlights of the show. Last night Sheen took to Twitter to pay tribute: "The entertainment world as well as the world at large lost a brilliant man today. Patrice had that rare 'light' around him and inside of him. I only knew him for the few days leading up the Roast. Yet I will forever be inspired by his nobility, his grace and his epic talent. My tears today are for the tremendous loss to his true friends and loving family."

Stephen Colbert Pleads With Herman Cain to Stay in the Race (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 30th 2011 4:00AM
'The Colbert Report'With the latest allegations that he sustained a 13-year extra-marital affair, Herman Cain is reportedly taking some time off to consider if he should stay in the race. Stephen Colbert took to the airwaves on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central) to plead with him to stay.

"I'm saying this not just as a supporter, but as a broadcaster," Colbert said. "I need you in the race!"

He went on to say that this is an improvement over previous allegations as it shows he can sustain a consensual long-term relationship. Besides, he's still one affair behind Gingrich, who pundits are saying will be the likely recipient of lapsed Cain supporters. Guess the newer affair story is more important than the old ones.

Betty White Decides to Start Naming Names on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 30th 2011 3:00AM
Betty White, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Watching the progression of the show from backstage, Betty White had a stark realization that she revealed on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). She's been going about her celebrity all wrong, striving to keep her personal life private.

Instead, she should be naming names. The drawback, though, is that she's pushing 90 now -- which by the way isn't an accomplishment, it's just something that happens -- and it's hard to remember the guys she's had.

Jon Stewart suggested she use headshots to remember them, but you don't always want to remember what they looked like. Sometimes the hazy glasses of memory will make things far better than they really were, and that can be a very good thing.

Colbert Encourages Non-Lethal Force While Holiday Shopping (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 29th 2011 4:30AM
'The Colbert Report'A little pushing and shoving is all part of the rush of holiday shopping. In a free market, it's about who you have to crush to get what you want, right? But Stephen Colbert made a plea to all the crazed shoppers out there on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central).

"It is the holiday season, celebrating Jesus, the prince of peace," he reminded us. "So please use non-lethal force only."

After all, we've seen this year how effective pepper spray can be in getting people to move out of your way, so why not try tear gas or tasers? Maybe set up an impromptu paintball session in your local store. So long as you get what you want, who's going to get hurt (other than all of those people who are going to get hurt)?

Jon Stewart Unveils First Person Sprayer Xbox 360 Game 'Black Friday' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 29th 2011 4:00AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Inspired by the woman who pepper-sprayed her way to an Xbox 360 system at a Wal-Mart, Jon Stewart came up with a whole new genre of video game on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). The fact that the woman was allowed to buy the system and take it home, essentially rewarding her for this behavior, made him realize that pepper spray may be the weapon of choice in the future.

So he presented the new Xbox 360 first person sprayer, 'Black Friday.' In this game, you navigate the corridors of a store, armed with your trusty can of pepper spray. As you near your desired purchases, let loose to keep other shoppers from getting their hands on your prize. It's a game the whole family can play -- and at least one person in real life.
