Richard Dean Anderson Punches Jimmy in the Face on 'Raising Hope' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 9th 2011 4:00AM
When Jimmy gets a 13-year old competitor for Sabrina's affections, he has to think quickly on 'Raising Hope' (Tue., 9:30PM ET on FOX). He has to not only get the kid to stop making fun of him in front of her, but he needs to convince the kid not to tell Sabrina that Jimmy loves her. What else to do but hook him up with a girl his own age.Only this goes terribly wrong when the girl's father -- who happens to be Richard Dean Anderson -- happens to walk up on Jimmy when he's talking to her and it sounds like it's Jimmy who's trying to make a move.
Jess Freaks Out When She's Told Nick Likes Her on 'New Girl' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 9th 2011 2:15AM
Another solid installment of 'New Girl' (Tue., 9PM ET on FOX) as Jess' model friend CeCe wreaks havoc in the apartment. She's certainly a fun character with a lot more going on than a pretty face and a great body. Of course, that's all Winston and Schmidt saw about her right away and she had a blast tormenting them -- and especially Schmidt -- throughout the episode.Nick, on the other hand, didn't even seem to notice her. Now it could be that he's still dealing with his own broken heart, but CeCe instead told Jess it was because Nick was totally into her.
Sarah Silverman Guest Stars as 'Friendship Therapist' on 'Bored to Death' (VIDEO)
by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 8th 2011 9:35AM
This week on 'Bored to Death' (Mon., 9PM ET on HBO) Sarah Silverman guest-starred as a "Friendship Therapist" for George and Jonathan, and she didn't pull any punches. First off, she tells Jonathan that he's an obvious "pathological, co-dependent people-pleaser" and keeps telling him to stop saying sorry.Which of course, just makes Jonathan say it even more. Then Silverman finds the perfect way to exploit his people-pleasing tendencies: She has him (and George) rub her feet. "It helps with my menses," she explains helpfully.
Lust and Lies on 'Allen Gregory' (VIDEO)
by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 7th 2011 8:25AM
It's hard fitting in when you're the new kid in school, but we're not sure that 'Allen Gregory' (Sun., 8:30PM ET on FOX) is going the right way about it. This week, overcome with lust for Principal Gottlieb, the precocious Allen pretends that he has a sex tape of him and the principal getting it on.Never mind that Allen's only seven years old and his classmates have basically no idea what he's talking about, he follows through with his plan to the end and destroys the supposed sex tape in front of the class and the principal. Supposedly in order to spare her blushes and save her relationship.
Homer Outsmarts Jane Lynch on 'The Simpsons' (VIDEO)
by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 7th 2011 8:05AM
Jane Lynch took off the red track pants last night to guest-star on 'The Simpsons' (Sun., 8PM ET on FOX) as Homer's new assistant, the scheming Roz.It's rare to see Homer outsmart anyone, but after Rox stole his job at the nuclear power pant he managed to find her one weakness and exploit it to his advantage. It turns out that Roz just hates to be hugged, so who better to have her hug -- in public -- than Monty Burns?
As Mr. Burns wraps his arms around Roz she starts to groan with disgust. Then, losing it altogether she pushes him away, wraps him into a little ball and kicks him into touch. Result? Roz is fired and Homer gets his job back. Plus, Roz even admits to a little grudging respect for Homer: "I underestimated you."
Kim Kardashian's Fairytale Divorce on 'Saturday Night Live' (VIDEO)
by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 7th 2011 12:45AM
Now that our tears have dried and the period of national mourning is over, we should all be able to laugh about Kim Kardashian's impending divorce -- after all, it doesn't seem to be depressing the Kardashian clan too much, on their various promotional tours.Naturally, with their fingers on the pulse of our collective emotions, the cast of 'Saturday Night Live' (Sat., 11.30PM ET on NBC) felt that this weekend was the perfect time to introduce us to the latest Kardashian special: 'Kim's Fairytale Divorce,' coming soon to E!
"Whoopsies, I got divoooorced!" Nasim Pedrad cooed in a fairly eerie impersonation of America's favorite soon-to-be-divorcée.
Frank Makes a Viral Video on 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' (VIDEO)
by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 4th 2011 7:30AM
Would you trust Frank Reynolds (Danny DeVito) to make a video to advertise your establishment? If the answer is yes or even maybe, feast your eyes upon the surreal, random and downright dishonest video he created on this week's 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' (Thu., 10PM ET on FX) before any money changes hands.Realizing that it's far better to lie in order to get your way, Frank presented the gang with his homemade commercial, which boasted that Paddy's was "the oldest pub in America," frequented by celebrities (but only the fun ones, like Snooki, Charlie Sheen and O.J. Simpson) and offering strippers, Motley Crue and cake for customers, among other, equally unappetizing things.
So much lying, and Paddy's still doesn't seem even vaguely appealing to visit. Don't give up the day job, Frank.
Reagan Butts Heads With Her Mother on 'Up All Night' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 3rd 2011 12:30AM
To say that Reagan has a strained relationship with her mother is putting it lightly. And yet, even after all these years of marriage, Chris didn't seem to get it. So he surprised her by allowing her parents to visit on the latest 'Up All Night' (Wed., 8PM ET on NBC).We got a little bit of insight into Reagan's awkward teen years, as she discovered that her mother had written a psychology book about it. Needless to say, Reagan isn't exactly thrilled to have her most embarrassing years chronicled in a book ... with pictures!
After Jess Sees Nick Naked, She Tries to Make It Even on 'New Girl' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 2nd 2011 2:15AM
Something happened during that baseball-induced break, because I can't remember the last time a series came back stronger after a hiatus than 'New Girl' (Tue., 9PM ET on FOX) did this week. Every character had their moments of comedy, each of them made sense as characters, finally -- I'm looking at you, Winston -- and all it took was for half of them to get naked. It was a classic storyline, with Jess accidentally walking in on Nick naked. Then, to try and make him feel better, she plots to let him "accidentally" see her naked. Only, she plans this in his room, which is awkward in itself. Why would she be there in only a towel?
Five Easy Ways '2 Broke Girls' Could Improve Itself (Step 1: Drop the Racist Character)
by Maureen Ryan, posted Nov 1st 2011 2:45PM
The biggest mystery of the fall season doesn't involve a detective or dead body; the suspects are, in this case, '2 Broke Girls.' Why doesn't the CBS sitcom do a much faster and more efficient job of fixing what's wrong with it? These problems are eminently fixable and they're getting in the way of what's working about the show.'2 Broke Girls,' you may recall, was one of the best-reviewed pilots of the season, but since then, it's often found itself mired in a morass of cringe-inducing supporting characters, brain-numbing predictability and jokes that feel as though they were exhumed from dead sitcoms of the '80s. What gives? The show is doing well (it got a full-season order from CBS), but I can't escape the feeling that it'd be doing even better if it ditched its more groan-worthy elements.
Given the magical ability to fix '2 Broke Girls,' here's what I'd change right away:
1. Dump the racist caricature.
Dennis Faces the Darts Firing Squad on 'It's Always Sunny' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 28th 2011 3:00AM
This was a bit of an odd installment for 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' (Thu., 10PM ET on FX) as there was genuinely nothing happening. Usually they get up to some kind of crazy shenanigans, but this week all they did was play a board game.Nevertheless, it was probably one of the most entertaining installments yet, as 'Chardee MacDennis: The Game of Games' is easily one of the most insane and entertaining games yet. It incorporates the best aspects of drinking games and board games into a crazy mish-mash of experiences.
Woodie Introduces Mondo to California Beach Life on 'Good Vibes' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 28th 2011 2:45AM
Paired up with the return of 'Beavis and Butt-Head' is the new animated series 'Good Vibes' (Thu., 10:30PM ET on MTV). It's the story of Mondo, an overweight teen from New Jersey who goes to the one place a teenage boy will never get tired of ... the beach! There, he makes friends with Woodie, a local who clearly has never been outside of California. While he teaches Mondo some of the tricks of the trade as a local, he also seems to think that the businesses along the beach front are representative of any town in America.
Whitney's Hidden Camera Scheme Backfires When Alex Asks for a Lap Dance (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 28th 2011 2:30AM
To catch Alex using a condescending tone, 'Whitney' (Thu., 9:30PM ET on NBC) set up a hidden camera in the apartment. Only, after taking his brother to an after-party, Alex stopped by Mark's apartment, where he saw the camera feed on the TV.Rather than have Mark shut it off, Alex decided to put Whitney on the spot. So when he knew everyone was downstairs watching, he decided to redeem that birthday coupon she'd given him for a free lap dance any time.
What followed was one of the most awkward sexy lap dances you have ever seen. We were actually disappointed that he stopped her by telling her he knew about the camera. He could have milked that one all evening by having her embarrass herself in front of the camera.
Erin Goes Too Far Showing a Disturbing Film for Halloween on 'The Office' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 28th 2011 2:15AM
Andy tasked Erin with putting together the Halloween party on 'The Office' (Thu., 9PM ET on NBC), but when he found out Robert California was going to be stopping by, he got a little worried that it wasn't adult enough.Erin, though, started getting paranoid that since they'd broken up she was on the verge of losing her job. This wasn't helped when Andy told her they'd talk at the end of the day. So she overcompensated, and took assistance from Gabe of all people.
'Beavis and Butt-Head' Lampoon JWoww of 'Jersey Shore' Making Pizza (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 28th 2011 1:45AM
There is nobody more suited to poke fun at some of the programming on MTV than 'Beavis and Butt-Head' (Thu., 10PM ET on MTV). Thank goodness the show returned after far too many years off the air. While they still seemed to be able to find music videos to skewer -- we laughed, and agreed, with their assessment of MGMT's 'Kids' video -- they also found themselves having to comment on reality fare like 'Jersey Shore.'
Unfortunately for them, they picked an episode without fighting or sex, as they noted, but rather featuring the cast learning how to make pizza.
