Stewart Responds to Trump's Claim That He Was Racist on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 3rd 2011 4:00AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Donald Trump thinks Jon Stewart should be taken off the air "for a while" based on a supposed impression he did of Herman Cain on Tuesday night's 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). Stewart spoke in Cain's voice as a continuation of Cain's response when asked if he'd ever paid anyone in regards to sexual harassment claims.

It wasn't one of Stewart's more clear ethnic accents, but Trump was incensed and took to the web to rant about it. Stewart got wind of it and decided that Trump was actually in "a unique position" to pass judgment.

Condoleezza Rice Talks About Gadhafi's Obsession With Her on 'Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 2nd 2011 3:00AM
Condoleezza Rice, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'One of the more bizarre details to come to light after the death of Moammar Gadhafi was that he had a particular fascination with former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. On 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), she admitted that she knew about his stalker-like fixation when she was in office, and how it colored diplomatic meetings with him.

For the most part, she just tried to keep it professional, focusing on the task at hand. But on one visit, he told her he had a video he wanted her to see. This understandably had her quite concerned, but it turned out to be a much more innocent gesture.

Stephen Colbert Laments the Lack of 'Sexy' Halloween Costumes for Men (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 1st 2011 6:15AM
Stephen Colbert, 'The Colbert Report'When you were out shopping for your Halloween costume this year, did you notice how many "sexy" costumes there are these days for women? It's getting to the point where a woman who doesn't want to wear a revealing costume is going to have a hard time finding something to wear, and Stephen Colbert has had quite enough of it on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central).

"We guys would love to get slutty," he said. With all that female skin showing, costumes for men seem to be going in the exact opposite direction. But why not allow men the same freedom to feel sexy and look great right next to the women? Colbert even had a few suggestions for us, and we certainly hope "Sexy Pundit" is on the shelves by next Halloween.

Toby Keith and Stephen Colbert Sing 'The Star-Spangled Banner' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 28th 2011 5:45AM
Toby Keith, 'The Colbert Report'Toby Keith performed his new single, 'Made in America' on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central). But he didn't stop there. Despite his assessment that America is basically falling apart and that there is no solution, Keith is still a patriot.

For that, Stephen Colbert considers himself blood brothers with Keith. And as two patriotic citizens and brothers, they joined forces to sing 'The Star-Spangled Banner.' And while you might expect Keith to take the bass part, that went to Colbert, who gave an almost monotone delivery.

Jon Stewart Struggles to Keep Up (And Down) With the Stock Market (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 28th 2011 5:15AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Jon Stewart learned a valuable lesson on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). For the past week, the stock market has been fluctuating wildly, each time a new report came out regarding the economic conditions in Europe.

But as the markets vary, it should not be used as a barometer of how the economy is doing, and certainly now how you should be feeling. Unfortunately, Stewart was apparently celebrating the highs with certain drugs and the lows with others. It was party followed by gut-wrenching depression only to party it up again the next night.

Stephen Colbert Fights Against Environmentalism in Halloween (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 27th 2011 4:30AM
'The Colbert Report'Every year, Halloween comes under assault, but this new environmental-friendly notion of costume swapping is taking it too far. Stephen Colbert took to the airwaves on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central) to decry the besmirching of this noblest of holidays.

"Environmentalism goes against everything Halloween stands for," he said. "Rampant consumerism and waste."

He then gave a poignant and beautiful analogy of the life cycle of a tree, comparing Halloween to "clear-cutting a forest, pulping the trees into lush three-ply toilet paper ... and, as a heartless final insult, [hurling] them at their still living cousins."

Stewart Responds to Occupy Wall Street Riots in Oakland (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 27th 2011 4:15AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Jon Stewart decided to check in on how the nationwide Occupy Wall Street movement has been going on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). While most of the cities feature the same kind of peaceful protests we've become used to seeing, it's an entirely different picture in Oakland, California.

"The police saw the situation deteriorating in terms of a public safety threat," one report said. "They saw health conditions getting bad, so they decided to get rid of those protesters."

Colbert Can't Figure Out How to Use the New 'Steve Jobs' Biography (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 26th 2011 4:00AM
'Steve Jobs' biography - 'The Colbert Report'Fans of 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central) know that Stephen Colbert is always first in line -- or begging desperately to get early editions -- for any new Apple product. So of course he was going to snag the new 'Steve Jobs' biography by Walter Isaacson.

The only problem was that the book itself proved a disappointment for him. He treated it like any other handheld Apple device, but it simply wouldn't play along. "You turn it upside down, it doesn't even reorient," he lamented, holding the book upside down.

Walter Isaacson Sums Up the Difference Between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 26th 2011 3:45AM
Walter Isaacson, 'Steve Jobs' - 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Walter Isaacson spent a lot of time with Steve Jobs in preparation for the biography he was writing of the Apple co-founder. As such, he came to intimately understand the man and the perception that people had of him. By that same token, he gained an understanding of Bill Gates as well, as he related on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central).

Just as Apple and Microsoft have become these two opposite giants in the field of technology, so were Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, according to Isaacson. "Steve is very mystical, artistic, sort of comes from the counter-culture," he said. "Bill Gates is awesomely smart ... and makes a great business model for Microsoft, but he never makes the artistic products."

Jon Huntsman Asks Stephen Colbert in Mandarin to Be His Running Mate (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 25th 2011 4:00AM
Gov. Jon Huntsman, 'The Colbert Report'Looking for that coveted Colbert bump to boost his current two percent standings in the Republican field, Gov. Jon Huntsman went on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central). There, he fielded questions about Mormonism being referred to as a cult -- he equated it to Catholocism being called a cult when JFK was running -- and why he doesn't just run as a Democrat.

When Stephen Colbert asked him to say the most "non-scary thing" Huntsman could think of in Mandaran -- he's fluent in the language -- he did. But Colbert still responded with, "Terrifying."

When he asked what Huntsman had said, he replied, "I just said I think that you oughta consider being my running mate for vice president." That is terrifying. Imagine, a fictional character one heartbeat away from the presidency.

Kevin Clash on Being the Voice of 'Sesame Street's' Elmo on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 25th 2011 3:30AM
Kevin Clash ('Sesame Street' Elmo), 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'According to Kevin Clash, it was by default that he wound up as the voice of Elmo on 'Sesame Street.' But it was his performance that turned the character into an icon, though most people are still surprised when they see him and discover what he does.

On 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), he shared a fun story about being asked by a flight attendant to speak to the children over the microphone on an airplane as it was landing. The best bit was that when he was finished, he said he saw people peeking into the aisles to see who it was. When he came through, they shook their heads in disbelief.

'The Colbert Report'While the people of Libya were celebrating the death of their former dictator Muammar Gaddafi, Stephen Colbert admitted to having mixed feelings about it on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central).

"Guy was one of a kind," he said. "Part madman, part fashion icon, part comic genius. He made us laugh. He made us cry ... about the things that made him laugh."

Colbert added, "It's like losing Yves Saint Laurent, George Burns and Pol Pot all on the same day."

Jon Stewart Offers Advice to Dictators in Hiding on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 21st 2011 3:45AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'It's not easy being a dictator on the run. In light of the recent developments that saw former Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi captured and killed, Jon Stewart took a moment on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) to offer some advice to other dictators who may find themselves in similar circumstances.

Gaddafi was found hiding out in what basically amounted to a hole in the ground, similar to the type of accommodation we found Saddam Hussein hunkering down in when he was captured.

"I would resist hidey-holing," he advised. "'Cause at some point, the angry guys with the guns -- they're checking the holes."

Al Sharpton, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'While talking with Rev. Cain is the current Republican front-runner.

"The idea of a possible presidential race -- two African Americans squaring off against each other -- has to feel like an achievement for people who worked in the civil rights movement," Stewart said.

Colbert Suggests Waterboarding Dick Cheney to Get to the Truth (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 20th 2011 3:15AM
'The Colbert Report'Argued as the one man who might have been able to prevent the 9/11 attacks had the CIA been willing to share information, Ali Soufan resigned from the FBI in 2005 over this issue. Now he's written his memoir, 'The Black Banners: The Inside Story of 9/11 and the War Against al-Qaeda.' He talked on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central) about his successes as an interrogator, and which techniques do and don't work.

Accordin to Soufan, who gathered a lot of information through his methods, waterboarding and other enhanced interrogation techniques simply don't work as effectively as outsmarting terrorists with intelligence manipulation.
