Hooray! 'Community' Comes To Hulu Plus

by Crystal Bell, posted Dec 2nd 2011 2:30PM
community huluIt's been a rough few weeks for 'Community' fans. After being left off NBC's midseason schedule, the fate of the quirky comedy is still uncertain. There have been multiple campaigns to save the show -- and even AOL TV's own Mo Ryan sent an open letter to NBC to save the show -- but there's still been no word on 'Community's' return to the Thursday night comedy block.

So to help 'Community' fans pass the time with Jess and the study group, Hulu Plus will exclusively offer all three seasons of the cult classic, starting today, which means you can catch all the jokes and pop culture savviness from the beginning.

Hulu Plus subscribers will have next-day access to the current season of 'Community,' as well as the entire back library of Seasons 1 and 2. In other 'Community' news, despite its uncertain future, after its most recent episode, the series did inch up in total viewers and drew a 1.7 rating in the demo.

'Community' Star Chevy Chase Previews This Week's Episode, 'Advanced Gay'

by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 2nd 2011 11:00AM
Chevy Chase, 'Community' - 'Advanced Gay'Sometimes I only have to hear the title of a 'Community' episode to know I'll love it. That's the case with this week's 'Advanced Gay' (Thurs., Nov. 3, 8PM ET on NBC).

I'd heard about 'RuPaul's Drag Race' stand-out Shangela guest starring, but when I visited the 'Community' set and saw rainbow flags everywhere and a script with that fabulous title on it, I got really excited.

And finding out that Shangela's scenes would be with Greendale's most inappropriate, unfiltered, racist, gaycist student, Pierce Hawthorne (Chevy Chase)? People, it doesn't get more awkward than this.

So I broke my 'Community' set visit streak -- no matter how many times I've been on that set, I never seem to talk to Chase -- and got a little scoop about Pierce's lesson in advanced gay from the man himself. Keep reading for more ... including Chase spouting terms like "a gay," "a straight" and "a tranny" in the most Hawthorne-ian of ways.

Advanced 'Community' Studies: Recommend Your Favorite Episodes of the NBC Comedy

by Maureen Ryan, posted Oct 18th 2011 11:45AM
A week or two ago, I answered your question in an "Ask Mo" column, an occasional feature around here. But I'd like to reverse that formula and ask you a question, if I may be so bold.

Last week, I watched 'Community' for the first time in a long time. And even though I was only partly caught up on the show's mythology -- I'd stopped checking in on the show about midway through season 2, but I'd read various stories about it since then -- I greatly enjoyed 'Remedial Chaos Theory.'

But my schedule in this timeline and every other one won't allow me to go back and watch all the episodes that I haven't already seen. So, dear readers, can you recommend a couple of your all-time favorite 'Community' outings?

Troy's Absence Leads to Chaos in Alternate Timelines on 'Community' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 14th 2011 1:30AM
'Community' - 'Remedial Chaos Theory''Community' (Thu., 8PM ET on NBC) is at its best when it steps beyond reality and into the surreal. Some of its most classic episodes have been completely unbelievable, but the strength of the characters sell it.

This week, with the roll of a die, the cast explored seven alternate realities. In each timeline, a different one of them went downstairs to get the pizza. Which means we got to see the group dynamics between the characters in whole new ways, simply by removing one from the equation.

'Community' Sneak Peek: Take a Look Inside Troy & Abed's Apartment (PHOTOS)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 13th 2011 2:30PM
Troy & Abed... in ascots!Tonight's episode of 'Community' is awesome. Just getting that out there.

Titled 'Remedial Chaos Theory,' the entire episode takes place at Troy and Abed's new apartment, where a little housewarming party is in full swing. And by full swing, we mean there's Yahtzee. Naturally.

The story breaks off into different timelines, showing us how each person in our favorite study group changes the dynamic ... and not all of the timelines are pretty.

There's repeated head bumps, a shooting, drug use, a horrifying Eartha Kitt story and possibly a make-out session with a fan-favorite couple. The greatest part about it is that not all of these timelines actually took place ... or did they?

We'll have to wait until next week to find out what's real and what isn't, but for now just take a look at these very real, very hysterical decorations from Troy and Abed's place. (Torg not included -- you have to watch to see him.)

Annie Throws a World Class Temper Tantrum on 'Community' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 30th 2011 12:30AM
'Community' - 'Geography of Global Conflict'Annie found an arch-nemesis, and apparently an Asian doppelganger of herself, on 'Community' (Thu., 8PM ET on NBC). Annie 2 started showing her up in class, and then stole her idea to start a Model United Nations.

To solve the dilemma, after Annie declared she was going to start her own Model UN, there was a UN faceoff to see which group could achieve world peace first. Yes, it is as ridiculous as it sounds, but no one have predicted Annie's reaction when things started going wrong.

'Community' Season 3 Premiere Recap: Greendale Just Got Awesomer (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Sep 22nd 2011 11:30PM
'Community'['Community' - 'Biology 101']

Wazzup? Yep, 'Community' is back! And to quote Abed, "This is the best show I've ever seen in my entire life."

There was so much goodness in Biology 101 that I practically transcribed the entire episode for the quotables section here (lazy, or genius?), but I do have some thoughts on this super fun, long-awaited Season 3 premiere.

Any issues fans had with last season are gone, and just like that the gang is back to normal(ish). Pierce is no longer a total prick, Shirley isn't talking about her man and her babies and Chang's crazy is somewhat contained ... for now at least.

But the biggest happy moments came from guest stars Michael K. Williams, who is awesome as Dr. Marshall King, PhD (yep, Dr. King), and John Goodman as the booming-voiced Vice Dean Layburne, a.k.a. Dean Pelton's worst nightmare.

EXCLUSIVE First Look: Meet Security Guard Chang on 'Community'

by Maggie Furlong, posted Sep 21st 2011 7:45PM
Ken Jeong as Chang, 'Community''Community' fans know this better than anyone: Ben Chang is crazy, y'all.

Ken Jeong's twisted character went from Senor Spanish teacher to study group stalker to possible daddy of Shirley's baby (thank god little Ben Bennett was born black and tail-less), but we've got the exclusive first look of him in his new role: Greendale security guard.

Yes, the game is Chang-ing for 'Community' Season 3 (premieres Thurs., Sept. 22, 8PM ET on NBC).

Instead of still trying to be one of the gang, it sounds like Chang will be using his new-found power over the Human Beings to try to scare them into hanging out with him again. Or maybe he's taken the search for Annie's Boobs just a bit too far.

Check out Chang in full uniform after the jump!

EXCLUSIVE 'Community' Season 3 Photos: Meet Asian Annie & Professor Martin Starr

by Maggie Furlong, posted Sep 9th 2011 3:00PM
'Community' star Alison BrieRaise your hand if you want to meet Annie's new rival!

Yeah, that's what we thought, 'Community' fans. For two seasons, Annie Edison's overachieving ways have endeared us to her, buttoned-up attitude, sweater sets, half ponytails and all.

Judging by these exclusive photos from the second episode of Season 3 (premieres Thurs., Sept. 22, 8PM ET on NBC), Annie (Alison Brie) will finally meet her match in what the hilariously un-PC people behind 'Community' are calling -- wait for it -- Asian Annie.

Asian Annie looks like a force to be reckoned with and (special bonus!) one of these pics also gives the first glimpse of their new poli-sci professor, played by 'Party Down' alum Martin Starr. Looks like he's taking Asian Annie's side in the girls' stare-down, but luckily Jeff's (Joel McHale) got Annie's back.

Take a look at the photos after the jump and tell us: How do you think Annie will react to her new classroom competition?

'Community' Season 3 Promo Featuring Guest Star John Goodman (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Aug 27th 2011 2:15PM
I love 'Community.' I even named it the returning show I'm most excited about. So naturally, the first promo for Season 3 (premieres Thurs., Sept. 22, 8PM ET on NBC) makes me all kinds of giddy.

Here's what we know: John Goodman is stopping by Greendale to play Vice Dean Laybourne, the head of their prized school of air conditioning repair, who's also out to make our own Dean Pelton's life a living hell.

What we didn't know? He's playing the part with an accent not unlike a Batman villain in a voice that can only be described as booming. Oh, and you probably shouldn't ever ask him "wazzup?"

Watch this hilarious promo to see Goodman in fine form, the Dean with some new facial hair and his idea of normal business attire, the words "nostril" and "rectum" and a quick glimpse of some kind of sparkly, streamer-filled dance number.

Yes, please.
