True Story: Competitive Eater Resorts to Dirt, Grass (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Dec 16th 2010 6:00AM
In the middle of Joe Pesci's golf tournament, quite a different competition ensued, Mark Wahlberg told the studio audience on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC). The actor's buddy "Nacho" -- a professional competitive eater -- was there, as well as another extreme eater who was a friend of Pesci's. That guy grabbed a fish from the pond, cooked it up and ate the whole thing, bones and all.Wahlberg got a big divot of dirt and grass on the 18th hole. "[Nacho] put the divot on a hamburger roll -- ketchup, mustard, ate the whole thing," said Wahlberg. Unsurprisingly, he didn't feel very well afterward, but he soundly beat his opponent.
Are you ready to Hurl?

Game show titles have a way of telling you exactly what you can expect if you tune in to them. The Price Is Right is about guessing prices, Card Sharks was a game that involved a deck of cards, and Match Game was about matching your word with the word picked by a celebrity. Of course, the whole list of examples breaks down a bit when you consider Jeopardy!, which could be about anything, really.
But add to the list Hurl, the new game show coming this summer to G4. To quote from the network, it's a show that "combines speed-eating with intense physical challenges." Yes, you read that right.

The Daily Show: April 18, 2006

This episode was taped before the birth of Suri, the baby of Tom Cruise
and Katie Holmes, so no direct references were made. However, Jon Stewart remarked on the Tom
Cruise quote that's been circulating absolutely everywhere: "I’m gonna eat the placenta. I thought that
would be good. Very nutritious. I’m gonna eat the cord and the placenta right there". The audience
immediately burst into horrified groans. Well, Cruise was only kidding. It's really unfortunate that people think he's
so crazy that they can't even tell when he's joking anymore. Jon's Tom Cruise impression sounded exactly like his
George W. Bush impression (sans accent -- or silly attempt at accent). Jon also suggested, when eating placenta, to
pan-roast it with a bit of leek. Delish!TV Squad Hot Topics
