What to Watch: TV Picks for September 6 - 11
by Stephanie Earp, posted Sep 6th 2011 8:40AM
9/11: Ten Years Later -- Sunday, September 11, 8PM ET/PT, CBS/GlobalOf all the specials airing this week, this one, narrated by Robert De Niro, may be hard to watch, but not as hard as others (like the hour on History playing all the phone calls out of the towers). This is an update to a special that aired not long after 9/11, and told the story of Engine 7 Ladder 1. It's also the only special that has footage of the first plane hitting Tower One. As astounding as it may seem, there is a whole generation of young people out there who did not see it happen the first time and are old enough now to watch and understand.

Fox Announces 2011-2012 Schedule
by Jean Bentley, posted May 16th 2011 9:30AM
In advance of this afternoons Upfront presentation in New York, Fox announced its fall 2011 TV schedule this morning. There aren't any big surprises, aside from the 'Bones' spinoff 'Finder' getting its debut at midseason instead of this fall as a contingency plan for Emily Deschanel's pregnancy like many predicted. The long-delayed 'Terra Nova' finally gets its official debut this fall, with the Steven Spielberg-produced dinosaur show airing Monday nights at 8PM before 'House.' 'The X Factor' takes over 'American Idol''s time slot, and will help launch a new comedy on Wednesday nights.
Another interesting tidbit to note: 'America's Most Wanted' has been discontinued as a regular TV series; after 23 years Fox has decided to bring back the show in the form of occasional specials.

10 Best True Crime Shows of All Time
by Danny Gallagher, posted Jan 6th 2011 12:00AM
Some of the greatest television dramas like 'The Wire,' 'CSI' and the never-ending stream of 'Law & Order' spinoffs ripped some of their best plots straight from the crime blotter. But some of the best headlines don't need fictional characters or enhanced-for-TV plot twists, which is why true crime shows have become so popular on networks like truTV, A&E and Investigation Discovery, which debuts its newest program 'Stolen Voices, Buried Secrets' Jan. 10 at 10PM ET. This true crime show tells the story of a murder -- from the victim's point of view. Viewers must piece together the killer's identity based on clues given by family members, friends and investigators.
We took a look back at some of the best true crime shows on TV. See if your favorites made our list!
Fox Books 'Cops' for Season 23
by Kim Potts, posted Apr 20th 2010 10:45AM
Here's what the bad boys, bad boys are gonna do: continue running from the police, as Fox has given the greenlight for a 23rd season of its hit reality drama 'Cops.'The show, which will air its 800th episode before the end of season 22, has given viewers a look at 2,044 arrests in 140 U.S. cities (plus foreign locales like Russia, London and Hong Kong) since it debuted in 1989. The second longest-running show on Fox (after 'America's Most Wanted'), 'Cops' continues to be a ratings winner in its Saturday-night timeslot, drawing an average of five million viewers each week.
"We're doing gangbusters," series creator John Langley tells the Hollywood Reporter. "It's an existential variety show -- dramatic, life-threatening, philosophical and legal. We're still the only show on television with no script, no actors, no host and no re-enactments."

Michael Imperioli Cast as Cop in ABC Drama
by Allison Waldman, posted Mar 3rd 2010 12:44PM
On 'The Sopranos,' actor Michael Imperioli excelled at playing Christopher Moltisanti, a goodfella in every sense of the word. A made man. Definitely on the wrong side of the law. Since the HBO series has ended -- and even before that -- Imperioli has found work on the other side of the badge. He's doing it again. Michael Imperioli will star in '187 Detroit' for ABC, a new cop drama. The premise of '187 Detroit' is kind of 'The Office' meets 'NYPD Blue' in Michigan. It's a funny take on a Detroit homicide squad if they were to have a documentary crew following them around on cases. Imperioli will be Fitch, the hot-tempered, veteran detective who boasts an impeccable record for closing cases and catching killers.
