by Nick Zaino, posted Feb 24th 2011 6:40PM
David Arquette on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show'David Arquette and Courteney Cox have had to bear public scrutiny during their separation, and Arquette didn't help himself when he called in to Howard Stern's radio show to make some private details public. Arquette was on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated) today to talk about the call.

On the call to Stern, Arquette had revealed details about his sex life with Cox, and Winfrey asked what he regretted about that. "That I was drunk, that I wasn't coming from a place of honesty and authenticity," said Arquette.

Courteney Cox's 'Cougar Town' Makes Way for Matthew Perry's 'Mr. Sunshine'

by Catherine Lawson, posted Dec 7th 2010 6:45AM
Matthew Perry"Must See Wednesday"? In a sign that they're all still 'Friends,' it's been announced that Courteney Cox will take a break in February and March while Matthew Perry launches his new sitcom in the 'Cougar Town' time slot.

In a statement yesterday ABC said that Perry's new show, 'Mr. Sunshine,' will debut on the network February 9, replacing 'Cougar Town' in the coveted Wednesday 9:30PM ET slot until April 13.

This positions the newbie sitcom in-between established hit 'Modern Family' and the new Shonda Romes medical drama, 'Off the Map' and gives it several weeks to gain an audience before 'Cougar Town' comes back April 13.

'Off the Map' will air from January 12 to April 13, when it will be replaced by the premiere of 'Happy Endings,' an all-new ensemble comedy starring Elisha Cuthbert ('24').

by Rich Keller, posted Oct 8th 2010 4:00PM
Use this image to make your own Jules Cobb costume for HalloweenHow to dress up like Jules Cobb from 'Cougar Town' for Halloween

The Costume:
The sexy, smart and highly needy Jules Cobb of 'Cougar Town,' played by comedy veteran Courtney Cox.

What You'll Need: A wig of long, sleek, black hair, for starters -- something that will border your face ever so slightly.

Add to that a tight sweater and jeans, sun dress, or a sexy number that your college-aged son thinks shows too much cleavage for a woman your age.

ABC Orders More 'Cougar Town'

by Marina Zogbi, posted Jan 6th 2010 7:41PM
Cougar TownAccording to EW.com, ABC has ordered up two more episodes of 'Cougar Town,' bringing the show's freshman season to 24 episodes.

The comedy, which premiered Sept. 23 and stars Courtney Cox as Jules, a divorced single mother who reenters the dating scene, has proved to be an excellent companion to the network's Wednesday night comedy block. (Earlier in the season, ABC ordered more episodes of 'CT's' lead-ins, 'The Middle' and 'Modern Family.')

Which one of Courteney Cox's old Friends would you like to see on Cougar Town?

by Mike Moody, posted Jul 23rd 2009 12:03PM
cougar town, abc, courtney coxWe all knew this was gonna happen.

Along with Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox starred in one of the most popular ensemble TV comedies of all time. It's inevitable that at least one of her former Friends co-stars will eventually show up on her new ABC comedy, Cougar Town, for a guest spot. Even show creator Bill Lawrence knows that this is something the TV Gods demand.

"You and I both know that we'll do that eventually," Lawrence told EW's Michael Ausiello about the possibility.

But don't expect to see any of Cox's old friends visiting Cougar Town any time soon. ABC is set on selling the show's star and not potential guest actors this fall, Lawrence said.

TV Squad previews ABC's new shows (Part 1)

by Mike Moody, posted Jul 13th 2009 12:05PM
abc network logoABC is banking big on comedy this fall, with a Wednesday night lineup featuring four new sitcoms starring some familiar faces. The network is also set to unveil more high-concept dramas, including Flash Forward, V, The Forgotten and Eastwick.

I caught the first act of the Flash Forward pilot during the network's upfront presentation in May. It was good enough to become my most anticipated show of the upcoming fall season. My second most anticipated show is V, the revamp of the '80 series/miniseries about an alien invasion. ABC hasn't released full screeners for V or Flash Forward yet, but we got advanced looks at some of the network's other new shows, including Eastwick and Cougar Town, the new comedy from Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence. Look for previews of more new ABC shows here at TV Squad before the fall season kicks off in September.

Another Friends reunion ... sort of

by Brad Trechak, posted Jun 23rd 2009 1:02PM
FriendsThe media never turns down a chance to advertise a "reunion" of the cast of NBC's Friends, even when it's only two cast members appearing in the same show. Courtney Cox will be guest-starring on Web Therapy, an online-only show produced by L Studio starring Lisa Kudrow.

I recall when Jennifer Aniston guest-starred on the two-seasoned FX series Dirt which starred Courteney Cox. That was subliminally billed as a Friends reunion as well.

One could argue that this is a cheap marketing ploy, and that person would be correct. It could be one that works, though. I haven't watched Web Therapy, but the premise seems interesting and it's certainly the sort of role Lisa Kudrow could pull off.

ABC picks up new comedies starring TV vets

by Mike Moody, posted May 18th 2009 10:40AM
kelsey grammerABC will make official pick up announcements Tuesday, but the trades are already reporting that the network has ordered a large number of new shows for the upcoming fall season.

Along with some dramas and mythology-laden shows, it looks like ABC is playing it safe by picking up four half-hour family comedies starring some well-known TV vets.

Joining the already renewed Scrubs and Better Off Ted will be Hank, a multi-camera family show starring Frasier's Kelsey Grammer and The Middle, a single-camera comedy with Grammer's former Back to You co-star Patricia Heaton. Both shows seem to have pretty tired concepts. Hank is about a washed-up Wall Street deal maker who moves back to his home town, and The Middle is about a middle-class mom who is approaching middle age. Hopefully the stars, and the jokes, will make these shows worth watching.

Courteney Cox goes straight to the top on Scrubs

by Kona Gallagher, posted Jul 10th 2008 8:22AM
courtney coxI'm a sucker for stunt casting. Sure, it can get annoying after a while, (hello Will & Grace) but I still love seeing a Michelle Trachtenberg on Gossip Girl or a Britney Spears on How I Met Your Mother. So I was really excited to read that Courteney Cox has signed up to guest star on Scrubs this season.

Cox, who was most recently seen on her FX drama, Dirt, is returning to the small screen for a three-episode arc as Sacred Heart's newest Chief of Medicine. The position was left open after Dr. Kelso (Ken Jenkins) retired at the end of last season. Since Cox is only going to be on the show for a handful of episodes, something tells me that she's not going to do well in her new position. Her character is said to "ruffle some feathers," and it sounds like she's ruffling the wrong ones right out the door.

FX renews Dirt, Riches; moves Rescue Me

by Anna Johns, posted May 8th 2007 7:12PM
the richesIt's official. FX has ordered second seasons of Dirt and The Riches, something Joel already said was likely to happen. With multiple showings during the week, both Dirt and The Riches are getting upwards of 5-6 million viewers per week. Those numbers are comparable to The Shield and Rescue Me.

Plus, FX has suddenly changed its mind about Rescue Me's placement on the schedule. This weekend, I told you that the premiere date was set for Tuesday, June 12th. Well, as of today that premiere has been bumped back to Wednesday, June 13th and Rescue Me will air on Wednesdays at 10 pm through the summer.

Glenn Close's new drama, Damages, will take the Tuesday night 10 pm slot starting July 24th.

In case you're keeping track, that brings FX to six original dramas, more than any other cable network.

Aniston and Cox to make out on Dirt?

by Anna Johns, posted Jan 23rd 2007 8:28PM
jennifer anistonAussiello at TV Guide is saying that Jennifer Aniston's upcoming guest appearance on Dirt will have a kissing scene with former Friends co-star Courtney Cox. Aniston will play Cox's rival, the editor of another gossip magazine, who also happens to be a lesbian. Aussiello writes, "She won't just mouth off to Cox's tightly wound counterpart; she's going to share a lip lock with her."

That is open to interpretation. It could just be a smack on the lips or an all-out make-out fest. Gee, I wonder which would get better ratings?

Aniston guest stars on the season finale of Dirt on Tuesday, March 27th.

Jennifer Aniston to guest star on Dirt

by Anna Johns, posted Jan 16th 2007 8:08AM
jennifer anistonFormer Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox reunite on the small screen for the season finale of Cox's new show, Dirt. F/X announced yesterday that Aniston will play a character named Tina Harrod, the editor of a magazine that rivals Lucy Spiller's (Cox's) DirtNow gossip mag. Aniston's role marks her first return to television since Friends went off the air in 2004. Aniston appears on the season finale, which airs Tuesday, March 27th.

So far, Dirt has averaged about 3 million viewers for its first two episodes. Do you think Aniston's appearance brings in more viewers?

Gossip columnist says Dirt is all wrong

by Anna Johns, posted Jan 4th 2007 7:38PM
courtney coxGossip columnist Janet Charlton says Courtney Cox has missed the mark in portraying the world of celebrity gossip magazines in the new FX series, Dirt. While Dirt portrays the paparazzi lifestyle as both glamorous and trashy, Charlton says the people working in the world of celebrity gossip don't take themselves--or their jobs--so seriously. And, she says, the scenes where Cox's character is walking freely at parties is crap. Gossip magazine editors, she says, would never be invited to premiere parties and whatnot. Charlton says Cox's "fatal error was making the show a dreadful melodrama/soap opera" when, in reality, working in celebrity gossip is a laugh.

While I don't know anything about the gossip biz (although I consume more than the healthy amount), I agree that it was super dark. The editor and reporters at Dirt magazine seem vindictive about the rich and famous... so vindictive that they'll set people up with hookers just to destroy their public persona.

Top ten guest spots on Seinfeld before they were famous

by Anna Johns, posted Jan 3rd 2007 10:05AM
seinfeldEven though watching reruns of Seinfeld is now considered lame, it's still fun to see the old episodes where now-famous actors had bit parts. Pete McEntegart over at Sports Illustrated is talking about Seinfeld again and he has listed the Top 10 before-the-were-famous Seinfeld guests. Some of them are actually in classic episodes with some classic quotes that we've been saying for years.

His list includes Teri ("They're real and they're spectacular") Hatcher as Jerry's well-endowed girlfriend, Mariska Hargitay as an actress auditioning for the role of Elaine, Marcia Cross as dermatologist Dr. Sara "Pimple-Popper" Sitarides, Michael Chiklis as a party host, and Courtney Cox as Jerry's girlfriend who claims to be his wife to get discounted dry cleaning. Missing from the list (even the honorable mentions) is Bryan Cranston, who played the dad on Malcolm in the Middle for 7 years. On Seinfeld, he played Dr. Tim Whatley, the dentist who converted to Judaism just so he could make the jokes.
