Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis Discuss 'Next Food Network Star' Over Cupcakes (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 2nd 2011 3:10PM
The panel on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) tried to do a little talking with their mouths full today when Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis dropped by with plates of cupcakes. The pair were there to talk about food, and more specifically, 'The Next Food Network Star,' on which they both judge.Over De Laurentiis's mac and cheese cupcakes and Flay's gingerbread cupcakes, they talked about what makes a good Food Network personality. "They need to do two really basic things," said Flay, "and it sounds easy but it's really hard. They need to be able to cook and talk to the camera at the same time."
Flay said the contestants may have learned what's coming from watching previous seasons of 'Star,' but once they actually get in front of the camera and have to produce, it's a whole new layer of pressure.
Best Week Ever picks the most stupidly convincing infomercials
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 28th 2009 11:28AM
I have a deep, dark secret: I love infomercials. I can watch that Magic Bullet commercial with the British guy and his wife making food for all of their friends over and over again, even at one in the morning. So I enjoyed this list from Best Week Ever, the 13 most "stupidly convincing" informercials of 2009.
We've talked about several of these already, including the Comfort Wipe, Aspray, and the Shake Weight. But I hadn't seen the giant cupcake one before!

What You Missed Last Night: Owen Benjamin writes your jingle
by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 20th 2009 4:00PM
I usually have video from one of the late night shows for What You Missed Last Night, but most of the late night shows are in repeats this week. Instead, here's Owen Benjamin on last night's Jay Leno Show, taking a walk around the city and writing jingles for various businesses he finds, including a vacuum/sewing machine store, a gift shop/casket store (?), a cupcake place, and a guy with a mustache.
Someone should write a jingle for TV Squad.

Real Housewives star launches healthy treats business
by Kristin Sample, posted Jun 24th 2008 9:05AM
She doesn't exactly come off as a Martha Stewart-esque homemaker on the show but Bethenny Frankel really knows her way around the kitchen. The star of Bravo's Real Housewives of New York City has launched her own line of baked goods. The NYC cougar is bringing us vegan cupcakes and other healthy desserts. The line is called Bethenny Bakes and she launched her new company at the Bridge Market Food Emporium in Manhattan on Sunday. Some of the products include lemon cupcakes, banana oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, fudge chocolate chip muffins, and blueberry muffins. There is no word on whether or not these will be in stores outside of New York. I wonder if these treats actually taste good. More importantly, I wonder if Bethenny's boyfriend will help her run the business. He lost his Wall Street job as an executive at Patriarch Partners, LLC because he appeared on the show.
It's Amy Sedaris Day!
by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 21st 2006 3:59PM
So regular readers of TV Squad and my personal blog know that I have a love for Amy Sedaris. And it's not a crush or stalking, it's a mature, serious, dinner-and-a-movie type of love. Sure, Adam and Joel will say they love her too, but their love isn't real (plus I hear Joel's wanted in five states and Adam always forgets to put the toilet seat down, if you're reading this Amy). So I'm excited to see that Amy will be on The Late Show With David Letterman tonight. But that's not all! Amy also has a podcast interview today over at Salon. Among other topics, she talks about why she likes ugly people and misfits.
How I Met Your Mother: Cupcake

I have a feeling I'm not going to like Robin for much longer. Just call it a
hunch, but I'd be willing to bet she's the reason that "long distance relationships don't work". And if she
hurts me Ted...This episode also moved the story along towards Marshall and Lily's actual wedding, which is something I'm definitely looking forward to. Watching Lily try on the "mullet of wedding dresses" was hilarious. Someone last week also mentioned that the past couple of episodes have been kind of "Ted-lite", and I think that's been a pretty important part of why the show works for me-- it's not just Ted's show. On with the show!
West Coast response to SNL's Narnia rap
by Anna Johns, posted Feb 1st 2006 8:27PM
Here's my message to the
internet: stop trying to rip off the Narnia rap from SNL!It was hilarious. You are not.
Case in point: Mark Feuerstein (from Good Morning, Miami) and Adam Stein launched an East Coast/West Coast rap battle with SNL'ers Andy Samburg and Chris Parnell, the geniuses behind the Lazy Sunday, aka Chronic-what?-cles of Narnia rap video.
Boys, you really shouldn't enter into a battle you cannot win. The two 'Steins created a West Coast version of the rap, called Lazy Monday (because no one in L.A. has a job). They take their bad asses to drink Macchiatos and paint pottery at a Color Me Mine store. It's not nearly as funny, or as catchy of a tune as the Narnia rap.
Nothing beats the original.
