Curt Gowdy dead at 86
by Joel Keller, posted Feb 20th 2006 1:23PM
I'm listening to the Mike and the Mad Dog Show on
the YES network today, and they started the show by mentioning that Curt Gowdy, the legendary broadcaster who called
many World Series, Super Bowls, and other major sporting events for both NBC and ABC, has passed away at 86.Gowdy worked on TV and radio for over fifty years before retiring in the Nineties. He is also known as the host of the ABC outdoors show The American Sportsman, which earned him numerous Emmys.
I currently can't find any online reports of Gowdy's death, but I will post one when it becomes available.
(UPDATE: here's an AP report on Gowdy's death.)
