She's baaaack: Michelle Rodriguez returns to Lost
Lost may be the twistiest-turniest show on TV, but there is still one thing you can always depend on: death is never the end. Producers have proven this once again by announcing the return of the late LAPD officer, Ana Lucia. Michelle Rodriguez, who played Ana Lucia during Lost's second season, wasn't exactly the most popular character the drama has ever had, so I doubt her resurrection was the result of a rabid fan uprising.Rodriguez, of course, isn't the first deceased "Tailie" Lost has brought back. Cynthia Watros, who played Libby, appeared in one of Michael's visions last season. Rodriguez's return is fueling speculation that Mr. Eko, who met his untimely demise at the (hands?) of the smoke monster, may also return in some form.
Since we're talking about Lost here, there isn't exactly a wealth of details available about Ana Lucia's reappearance. However, there is a little bit of interesting information, which I've put after the jump for all of you spoilerphobes.
Fear Itself: Spooked

(S01E02) This is what is fun about anthology shows, and why I can never understand why they never do better in the ratings. As much as people bitch about and resist taking a chance on long-form new serialized programs like the '05-'06 trinity of Invasion, Surface and Threshold, you would think they would embrace a series where each episode truly stands alone. With a show like this, your investment into it won't be impacted in any way if the network pulls the plug after only thirteen episodes, or even just four.
And yet, anthology shows tend to struggle even more than heavily serialized fare. In fact, Fear Itself got its ass handed to it by Swingtown in the head-to-head premieres last week. The big question is, with the "not-so-good" nature of the premiere, how many people came back to see this much improved second episode, and how many will stick around for Daniel Knaupf's outstanding episode next week? While last week was a poorly written and acted "monster of the week" boobfest, this time we got a well constructed good old-fashioned haunting.
Another Lost actor gets another DUI
Don't be surprised if Jin dies this season on Lost. That's what happened when two other actors on the show got DUIs (although, the producers swear their deaths were not related to their off-set antics).This time, Daniel Dae Kim got the DUI. He was arrested early Thursday by Honolulu police, taken into custody, then released on bail. Kim joins the ranks of Cynthia Watros, who played Libby, and Michelle Rodriguez, who played Ana Lucia.
Lost audio podcast recap: April 5, 2007
Producer Damon Lindelof was back for this week's Lost audio podcast. In a short interview, cast members Josh Holloway and Daniel Dae Kim shared a humorous story about their down time on Oahu. Fan questions about Season Three episodes were answered as well.
-
Josh Holloway and Daniel Dae Kim once got caught in a storm during a fishing trip. Holloway owns a fishing boat, and had been overly eager to go out on the ocean after a long stretch of bad weather. Daniel Dae Kim may never go fishing with him again.
-
Dominic Monaghan introduced Daniel Dae Kim to the music of The Honorary Title. Kim is a music lover, and misses the New York music scene.
Lost's Cynthia Watros gets another CBS pilot
Former Lost co-star Cynthia Watros has landed a part in a new CBS pilot. The actress will be playing Marisa Tomei's best friend in the comedy The Rich Inner Life of Penelope Cloud. Tomei will play the lead role of Penelope Cloud, a "brilliant" writer. With such a long title, the show is sure to be a huge success, right?
Watros, who played Libby on the second season of Lost, also had a part in a failed CBS pilot called My Ex Life last year. Her career has failed to take off since her abrupt departure from Lost following a DUI arrest. Since leaving the show, her only major acting credit has been a supporting role in the movie Frank. Watros made her final Lost appearance on the season two finale, "Live Together, Die Alone."
Another arrest: Lost tailies can't drive
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays Mr. Eko on ABC's Lost, was arrested early Saturday morning in Waikiki, Oahu. Police charged him with disobeying a police officer and driving without a license. He spent six hours in jail before posting $500 bail.This is the third new cast member to be arrested for traffic violations. Adewale's infractions don't seem as serious as last year's drunken driving arrests of Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros. The two actresses played 'Ana Lucia' and 'Libby' up until the season finale when the writers killed the pair off.
I guess Bernard is next. I'm thinking he'll be busted for indecent exposure. Or hit and run, since there seems to be a traffic theme.
Michelle Rodriguez out of jail. Yet again.
This is getting really hard to follow, but I'll try to explain it.First, the ex-Lost star was arrested in Hawaii for drunk driving. Then she decided to go to jail instead of performing community service. She was released after 5 days. Then, the judge sent her back to jail for 60 days because that arrest had violated the probation of an earlier arrest in Los Angeles. Now Rodriguez is out of jail again. Total time spent of that 60 day sentence: about 4 1/2 hours.
The reason this time: "overcrowding."

Michelle Rodriguez back in jail - BREAKING NEWS
Oh, Michelle Rodriguez is not having a good year.Just a short time after being released from jail for drunk driving, the ex-Lost star is back in jail! Seems that drunk driving arrest violated her probation on another arrest a few years ago in Los Angeles. So now she's behind bars again, and this time she's going to spend 60 days there. She's also getting community service, alcohol education, and she'll have to talk with Mothers Against Drunk Driving and L.A.'s morgue service. All the things she wanted to avoid when she took the jail time before.
The more we hear about this, the more I begin to suspect she really was written off Lost for reasons other than "plot."
Lost producer promises big answers in season finale
In this week's edition of Newsweek, Lost producer Carlton Cuse promises that the season finale will answer some very big, looming questions. What questions? 1) Why did the plane crash? (Ohhh! That's a biggie!); 2) What happens if the button isn't pushed; and 3) "We're going to resolve the Michael-and-Walt story." The article also quotes Dominic Monaghan and Evangeline Lilly talking about how some actors are becoming high maintenance and misbehaving on set (no, they don't name names).I kind-of feel like we already know what happens when the button isn't pushed: NOTHING. Last week, we learned that the button-pushing is just an experiment. But, we've never actually seen anything past the hieroglyphics.
With all those big questions answered, what do you think next season will be all about?
Lost summer reading hits stores
Sawyer was reading the manuscript last week on Lost, and now it is out on bookshelves. Bad Twin is being billed as a book written by a man named Gary Troup, who hasn't been heard from since Oceanic flight 815 disappeared after leaving Sydney, Australia in September 2004 (yes, the book description on Amazon does give a date for that fateful flight). 'Gary Troup' is an anagram for 'Purgatory'. By the way, there are already mostly positive customer reviews.The description on Amazon says the book is about a private investigator named Paul Artisan who investigates the disappearance of one of a set of twins (the "bad twin"). It says, "Troup's long-awaited Bad Twin is a suspenseful novel that touches on many powerful themes, including the consequence of vengeance, the power of redemption, and where to turn when all seems lost."
Will you read the book this summer? By the way, if you don't feel like reading, the audio version is available on iTunes.
Lost producers: DUI not related to Ana Lucia's death
Well, Ana Lucia is definitely dead. Libby? Maybe not. Yet.In an interview with TV Guide's Aussiello, Lost producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse explain why they killed off Ana Lucia, played by Michelle Rodriguez. A few highlights:
- Calling herself a 'nomad', Rodriguez insisted that she only be on the show for one season;
- When Rodriguez got her DUI, the producers considered changing her storyline because they were worried it would look like they were punishing her by killing off her character;
- Same for Watros. Libby wasn't shot because Watros got a DUI;
- Michelle Rodriguez plays well with others.
Michelle Rodriguez freed from jail -- UPDATE
Michelle Rodriguez, aka 'Ana Lucia' on Lost,
was freed from a Honolulu women's jail on Friday. She spent most of this week there after pleading guilty to drunk
driving charges. Rodriguez opted for the jail time, rather than 240 hours of community service because, she said,
autograph hounds would hassle her if she did work hours. Did she mean 'taunt'? The warden of the women's prison said
she watched TV and read during her stay.Now, she went to jail on Tuesday. And she got out on Friday. If you're doing the math and wondering how that equals five days... stop counting on your fingers, because it doesn't. Honolulu police waived one day of incarceration for time already served. She was held in custody for a bit when she was originally arrested back in December and, apparently, that counted as one day served.
Next up for Michelle is a movie called Grapefruit Moon and (possibly) another season on Lost.
Lost second season DVDs coming September 5
Heck, the second season isn't even over yet and
here we are with news about the DVD set. Buena Vista
Entertainment has tentatively scheduled the second season set to be released on September 5.Which means it will be timed perfectly for you to watch the last episode of the season over and over and over again in slow motion and freeze frame, trying to figure out the season-ending cliffhanger in time for the third season opener that will happen in late September.
Michelle Rodriguez is going to jail - BREAKING NEWS
Michelle Rodriguez doesn't want to do community service.Yup, the Lost actress has pleaded guilty in her drunk driving case and has actually chosen the fine and five days in jail rather than perform 240 hours of community service. She is going to surrender to authorities in Hawaii at the end of today.
Maybe she should spend five days in the hatch?
Is Watros' new role good news for Sons & Daughters fans?
A couple of days ago, we told you about the news that
Lost's (and -- to me -- Titus' and Drew Carey's) Cynthia Watros has signed to be a
"guest star" on the new Tom Cavanagh CBS sitcom, which for now is called My Ex-Life. But the
important part of the story as far as I'm concerned is that Watros will be taking the place of Sons &
Daugters' Gillian Vigman (pictured), who had
signed on to the pilot deal as a second option, in case S&D got cancelled.So here's the $64 question: Does this mean that S&D, one of my favorite shows of the season, is coming back? We don't know yet, but this Zap2It article speculates that becaue ABC Entertainment president Steve McPherson is such a big fan of the show and he's had a history of unexpected pickups (just ask everyone on Jake In Progress), it might actually happen. So, S&D fans, keep your fingers crossed.
