Elle Fanning Tells Jimmy Kimmel About Fake Driving in Movies (VIDEO)
by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 14th 2011 9:12AM
Elle Fanning stars in J.J. Abrams's new movie, 'Super 8,' in which she has to drive a car. Given that Elle's only 13 years old and is therefore too young to have a driver's licence, this could have been problematic. However, Elle let slip a few tricks of the trade on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC) and explained just how she fake-drives in the movie.
So, how do they do it? Complicated computer-generated imagery? Sophisticated remote-controlled cars? Oddly enough, in these techno-happy times, no. As Elle explained to host Jimmy Kimmel, it's much more straightforward than that. "There was a woman underneath me. She was on the floorboard of the car and she was steering it. ... They had a little steering wheel down there."
We're not sure we agree with Kimmel that it sounds like the worst job ever, but we don't think it would be a barrel of laughs.
When Dakota Fanning Met Regis Philbin, Little Sis Elle Freaked Out (VIDEO)

Before Robert Pattinson, the Jonas brothers and Justin Timberlake, there was ... Regis Philbin? Yeah, he's the only star actress Dakota Fanning has stood in line to meet, she revealed on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12:05AM ET on ABC).During Philbin's 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' days, 6-year-old Fanning, her mother and 2-year-old sister Elle went to the mall to buy a Philbin-brand tie for their dad and get his autograph. Philbin signed the receipt ("38 bucks for the tie," Jimmy Kimmel noted), and Fanning was satisfied. Her little sister was not.
"She's in my mom's arms," said Fanning. "She didn't get an autograph and didn't get to meet Regis. So we're walking away through the Macy's, and my sister's going, 'Regis, Regis!' -- crying for Regis!"
"Yeah, well nothing breaks a kid's heart like not getting to meet Regis," joked Kimmel, comparing him to yet another current idol popular with teen girls...
Dakota Fanning Tries to Re-gift Leno's Lakers Present (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Jun 22nd 2010 6:30AM
Jay Leno had the perfect present to give Dakota Fanning when she visited him on 'The Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC). So he thought. Who knew she's a regifter? When he heard the actress is a huge L.A. Lakers fan -- and that her fave player is Spaniard Pau Gasol -- Leno got the high schooler a basketball signed by him.
"That is amazing!" said Fanning. "Late Father's Day present for my dad!"
"You'll have to cross your name out," said Leno, referring to the personalized message on the basketball. "It's hard to re-gift when the gift is seen on 'The Tonight Show,'" he pointed out.

If you were worried, rest assured -- Dakota Fanning does, in fact, lead the normal life of a high school teenager when not acting. by Anna Johns, posted Nov 28th 2006 7:02PM
Once again, ABC news woman Barbara Walters is hosting her list of The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2006. As usual, she's picking public figures from entertainment, politics, sports and business. ABC has released the names of six people on her list, including Patrick Dempsey (Grey's Anatomy), Anna Wintour, Andre Agassi, John Ramsey (JonBenet's father), televangelist Joel Osteen, and Terri Irwin. Last year's list included Jamie Foxx, Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, Camilla Parker-Bowles, and Tom Cruise- who totally wigged out in 2005. The special airs on Tuesday, December 12th at 10 pm.Whether you like her or not, I think Rachael Ray deserves to be on this year's list. 2006 was definitely her year. To that, I'd add Barack Obama (who should've been on her list in 2004) or Nancy Pelosi. And, probably Angelina Jolie.
Who else should make this list?
