Chuck and Blair['Gossip Girl' - 'Riding in Town Cars with Boys']

'Gossip Girl' just can't get enough of those dramatic car crashes -- it's like 'Vampire Diaries' and their obsession with balls, or 'Gilmore Girls' and their weekly town-wide festivals of yore. And when it comes to ending a midseason finale with a bang, few things can beat the sound of twisted metal and one of our main characters in critical condition.

There were plenty of shocks, twists and longing looks in the final episode of 2011, so hit the jump for our top five OMG moments, and come speculate with us in the comments.

Chuck and Blair['Gossip Girl' - 'Memoirs of an Invisible Dan']

Lonely Boy definitely lived up to his nickname this week; Dan may be on the cusp of literary greatness, but with friends and family feeling stung by their fictional portrayals, our budding Hemingway found himself alone in a room full of people, and his Amazon ranking certainly won't make waffles with him in the morning.

This week's 'Gossip Girl' was firing on all scandalous cylinders, elevating itself above guilty pleasure viewing to recapture some of the sparkle of its glory days. The whole gang got together, which always guarantees fireworks, and there were moments to tease both the loyal Chair and the Dair fans. Serena's selfishness was back with a vengeance, and Ivy got herself a new ally -- or did she?

Join us after the jump for our five favorite moments from this week's episode.

Blair Waldorf['Gossip Girl' - 'Yes Than Zero']

Another summer gone, another scandalous season of 'Gossip Girl' ahead, but many of last year's burning questions still remain unanswered: Who's carrying a little extra baby weight? Who is crazy cousin Charlie Ivy really? Will Chuck and Blair ever work things out? Will Nate finally get a storyline of his own?

Surprisingly, the Season 5 premiere sheds a little light on at least some of those quandaries, and for all the questions we don't get answered, there's a fabulous dress to distract us.

Still, we can always rely on 'GG' to provide an OMG moment or two, so hit the jump for our Top Five most gaspworthy moments from the first episode.

Leighton Meester and Penn Badgley['Gossip Girl' - 'Petty in Pink']

This is your wake-up call, Upper East Siders -- after last week's snoozefest, tonight's 'Gossip Girl' was a return to the show we all know and love. There was scheming, smooching and suspicion, fabulous fashion and, oh yes, round 56 of the Serena versus Blair war.

Though we stopped short of anyone taking a tumble into a fountain, it's clear that the ceasefire has ceased, and B and S are back to backstabbing, both accusing each other of jealousy and rampant egomania (and both kind of having a point).

But despite her BFFrenemy's best efforts, it seems like Blair has captured the heart of her Parisian Prince Charming -- for now, at least.

Blake Lively['Gossip Girl' - 'The Kids Stay in the Picture']

Welcome back, Gossips -- it's been a torturous six-week wait to see the outcome of the kiss heard round the world. And even after the episode premiered, those pesky 'Gossip Girl' writers were determined to tease us just a little more.

After the nefarious will-they-or-won't-they back and forth that preceded the steamy (we assume, since even that was hidden from us) "Dair" liplock before hiatus, once we returned, a whole new set of questions emerged, the most important of which was: Did they love it or hate it?
