Dana Delany on 'Castle,' 'Desperate Housewives' and Kissing Julie Benz

by Jenna Busch, posted Mar 22nd 2010 6:00PM
CastleABC has learned what we all knew for so long: Dana Delany is a hot commodity. Not only is the 'Desperate Housewives' star heating things up on the series, she's guesting on 'Castle' and things have gotten so hot they're literally explosive.

On 'Castle' (Mon., 10PM ET on ABC), Delany plays Jordan Shaw, an FBI investigator called in to help catch a serial killer. Fans will naturally recognize this as a mini 'Desperate Housewives' reunion because 'Castle' star Nathan Fillion played Delany's husband on the series.

We got a chance to chat with Delany and she gave us the scoop on her 'Castle' stint, the pilot that could determine whether she returns for next season's 'Desperate Housewives' (Sun., 9PM ET on ABC) and whether Fillion or Julie Benz is the better kisser.
Check out the interview after the jump.

'Desperate Housewives' - 'My Two Young Men' Recap

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Mar 22nd 2010 12:50AM
Desperate Housewives(S06E18) "You should never trust family photos. They are designed to be deceiving." - Mary Alice when describing the Van De Kamp's photos

Last week's episode set a lot of storylines in motion: Preston and Irina's upcoming wedding, Sam becoming a part of Bree's life, Katherine and Robin potentially becoming a couple, and Patrick eventually finding the Bolens. This week, these four storylines continued to be developed and questions were raised as we fast approach the final episodes of this season of 'Desperate Housewives.'

Before I comment on these four storylines and the fact that Preston still has the worst fake mustache in TV history, I must warn you that the next new episode will air on April 18. That means we will have to wait close to a month before getting new dish on our favorite Wisteria Lane residents!

'Desperate Housewives' - 'Chromolume #7' Recap

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Mar 15th 2010 1:32AM
Desperate Housewives
(S06E17) "I know that you have a secret." - Gaby to Angie

'Desperate Housewives' titles are always found in lyrics of songs written by Stephen Sondheim. This week's unusual title is no different. 'Chromolume #7' is a song in the musical 'Sunday in the Park with George.' More precisely, the Chromolume #7 is a color and light machine featured in an act of the musical.

The title fits with Mary Alice's commentary at the end of the episode saying that it's not always easy to see people's true colors and that people hide their true nature from us every day. This week, we got confirmation on Angie's secret, we learned who Sam really is, we discovered how Gaby acted when she was a high profile model, and we met Preston's girlfriend and mustache!

Who's Coming and Going on 'Desperate Housewives'?

by Allison Waldman, posted Mar 6th 2010 9:55AM
desperate_housewives_cast_white_setMarc Cherry, the creator of 'Desperate Housewives,' would probably appreciate this reference. In the 1932 Oscar-winning movie 'Grand Hotel' -- which became a Tony-winning musical on Broadway -- one character, Dr. Otternschlag, who lives at the hotel and observes the action, comments wryly, "People come and go. Nothing ever happens." Of course, a zillion things happen; he's just unaware from his perch in the lobby.

Wisteria Lane is like that. From some neighbor's point of view, nothing happens. However, as viewers, we know better! And as for the people come and go, well, that's abundantly clear with the news this week.

Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello had two major casting items about the ABC drama. Emmy-winner Drea de Matteo is leaving 'Desperate Housewives' and Dana Delany might be out, too.

Drea de Matteo to Leave 'Desperate Housewives'

by Jane Murphy, posted Mar 4th 2010 2:15PM
Drea de MatteoDrea de Matteo will forever be remembered for her shocking exit from 'The Sopranos' in 2004, when Adriana was rubbed out by Silvio.

Now comes word that Marc Cherry will try to top it, as it's being reported that de Matteo's current stint on 'Desperate Housewives' will end in May.

In an exclusive interview with the Ausiello Files, Cherry promises an "explosive finale" and said that, despite rumors, de Matteo only planned on doing one season of the show. "She has a baby and is eager to get back to her life in New York," he said.

Is Dana Delany Leaving 'Desperate Housewives'?

by Gary Susman, posted Mar 3rd 2010 4:45PM
If 'Body of Evidence,' ABC's medical/crime procedural drama pilot, makes it to the fall schedule, the show's first murder victim may be Wisteria Lane divorcée Katherine Mayfair.

According to the Ausiello Files, 'Desperate Housewives'' Dana Delany is in talks to play the starring role in 'Evidence.' And while ABC would have to give her time off from 'Housewives' to film the premiere hour of the series, that vacation from Wisteria Lane would surely become permanent if the network picks up the show for the fall season -- which is likely, since it comes from sibling production house ABC Studios.

Lesbian Kiss Alert on 'Desperate Housewives'! (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 1st 2010 2:45AM
Desperate Housewives, Katherine and Robin Share a Lesbian KissWe know for a fact that Julie Benz is happy to have a more light-hearted role to sink her teeth into after her tragic demise on 'Dexter.'

So she must be super happy to have landed smack in the middle of Wisteria Lane. On last night's 'Desperate Housewives' (Sun., 10PM ET on ABC), Robin and Katherine got ... close. But is it all a dream?

It must be, because there's no way Robin is having trouble fitting into her clothes.

'Desperate Housewives' - 'The Chase' Recap

Desperate Housewives
(S06E16) "You may envy our lives, Gaby, but it's nothing compared to how we envy yours." - Bob to Gaby

After last week's episode centered around Robin, I expected this week's installment to put the main ladies back front and center. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the 'Desperate Housewives'' writers hadn't forgotten about some of the background characters and decided to give them center stage this week.

'The Chase' offered us tidbits about Penny, Karen McCluskey, Andrew, Celia and, two of my favorite recurring characters, Bob and Lee. While introducing a new cryptic character named Sam ... For sure, he has a secret agenda that will rock Wisteria Lane.

(S06E14) "Stink, stank, stunk." - Lynette to Dr. Graham

Before going on a short hiatus, Desperate Housewives treated us with a so-so episode. This week's episode introduced an almost unrecognizable Julie Benz as stripper Robin (see above), whom Susan takes under her wing; offered us a funnily stinky performance from Frasier's Jane Leeves, which helped Tom and Lynette grow as a couple; put Angie and the Solises at odds as Danny and Ana were ready to take their relationship to the next step; and had the Bree-Orson storyline take a turn that I'm not enjoying at all.

TV Casting: Tony Hale Gets 'Awkward'

by Andrew Scott, posted Jan 29th 2010 12:15PM
Tony HaleTony Hale ('Arrested Development') and Matt Letscher ('Eli Stone') are about to find themselves in a few 'Awkward Situations.' The duo has reportedly joined the cast of 'Awkward Situations for Men,' about a British couple whose values clash with American locals when they move across the pond. Hale will play Will in the ABC comedy, Danny's (star Danny Wallace) new American Friend, while Letscher is set to play the "insecure boss at a smoothie place." Hopefully, none of the situations involve any loose seals. [Hollywood Reporter]

Review: Desperate Housewives - How About a Friendly Shrink?

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Jan 17th 2010 11:45PM
Desperate Housewives
(S06E13) "The number one rule to a successful dinner party: keep discussion about your marriage to a minimum." - Mary Alice

Let's face it, all the Wisteria Lane residents need some one-on-one time with a shrink. From past episodes, we know that Tom and Lynette need to discuss their issues with the loss of the baby, Lynette's need for control and Tom's frustrations; while Orson and Bree need to cope with her affair with Karl and Orson being in a wheelchair and acting like a spoiled brat. This week, we can add that Gaby and Susan need to get over their need for competition and accept their children as they are; Bob and Lee must deal with their marital problems; and Angie needs advice so she can let new people in her life, aka Ana as Danny's new girlfriend.

Out of our favorite Wisteria Lane residents, only five met with a shrink and that includes Katherine, whom we finally (!) get news of.

Across the pond, Mbatha-Raw has appeared in 'Doctor Who,' 'Spooks' and the stage production of 'Hamlet,' which also just ended its Broadway run in December. Review: Desperate Housewives - If...

(S06E11) "No one knows who survived that terrible plane crash. Or more importantly, who didn't." - Mary

The plane crash that happened in episode "Boom Crunch" left us wondering if some of the Wisteria Lane citizens would make it alive or not. My predictions were that Karl, Celia and Mona would die. Some TV Squad readers predicted that Lynette would lose one of her yet-to-be-born twins because she threw herself in harm's way to protect one of the Solises kids.

Desperate Housewives' first episode of 2010 confirmed some of our predictions while treating us to the much advertised what if/ flashfoward episode of the series.

Which prediction was right? Answers and my two cents about the "what if" sequences, and more, coming up!

Review: Desperate Housewives - Would I Think of Suicide?

Desperate Housewives
(S06E09) "I don't care how you go. I just want you gone." - Carlos to Lynette

As we all expected, this week's installment of Desperate Housewives marked the beginning of the war between Carlos and Lynette over the fact that she is pregnant and hid her pregnancy as long as she could so she wouldn't be fired.

Carlos may have won the first battle, but the war is far from over as Lynette will not go down without fighting as hard as she can. Who will win the war? Only time will tell. One thing is certain, it will take a lot of time for the Scavos and Solises to be the friends they once were.
