The cast for 'Dancing With the Stars' Season 13 was announced last night, and the inclusion of both the show's first transgender contestant (Chaz Bono) and an openly gay man (Carson Kressley) has been applauded by the The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).As reported by 'Entertainment Weekly,' Herndon Graddick, senior of director of programs for GLAAD, said in a statement: "With both gay and transgender contestants represented on this upcoming season, ABC will send viewers a strong message about the diversity within the LGBT community."
Graddick added that, "At a time when transgender representation in the media is sorely lacking, Chaz Bono joining the cast is a tremendous step forward for the public to recognize that transgender people are another wonderful part of the fabric of American culture. Appearing on such a high-profile show will allow millions of Americans to get to know him in a whole new light."
'Dancing With the Stars' 2011: Who Is 'Psycho' Mike Catherwood?
by Jean Bentley, posted Mar 1st 2011 1:30PM
One of the biggest question marks in this season's slightly-less-star-powered-than-usual 'Dancing With the Stars' cast is 'Psycho' Mike Catherwood. What do we know about the guy besides the fact that he looks a lot like Kelly Ripa's husband Mark Consuelos?Catherwood is a Los Angeles–based radio DJ who got his start as a sidekick on the Kevin & Bean morning show on L.A. rock radio station KROQ and currently co-hosts the nationally syndicated 'Loveline' with everyone's favorite TV personality / addiction specialist, Dr. Drew Pinsky.
His rise to national fame, however, came just a few weeks ago when he co-hosted 'Live With Regis and Kelly' when Reege was out one day. Catherwood told his home radio station in an interview that he was asked to do DWTS after that fateful gig. Actually, he started getting calls during the taping.
'Dancing With the Stars' 2011: Season 12 Cast Announced
by Kelly Woo, posted Feb 28th 2011 10:12PM
The 'Dancing With the Stars' 2011 spring cast, announced Monday night during 'The Bachelor,' includes a talk show host, model, football star, '80s acting faves and Disney Channel starlet. So, all in all, it was a typical line-up for the popular ABC reality show. The rumors we reported earlier came true: 'Cheers' star Kirstie Alley and former Hugh Hefner girlfriend Kendra Wilkinson were both on the official roster. And while Tea Party candidate Christine O'Donnell didn't end up joining 'DWTS' (and neither did Joy Behar, despite our wish list), pro wrestler Chris Jericho and talk show host Wendy Williams will be among the celebrities shaking their hips.
Two of the bigger names on the cast are actors who broke out in the '80s -- Kirstie Alley and Ralph Macchio. Can the 'Cheers' star and the 'Karate Kid' have a shot at following in the foosteps of Jennifer Grey, who starred in the classic 'Dirty Dancing'?
'Dancing With the Stars' Season 12 Cast Rumors

Polish up those tap shoes and make sure all the sequins are intact -- it's almost time for 'Dancing With the Stars'!Last season, 'DWTS' cast rumors were flying fast and furiously, thanks in part to Bristol Palin. However, season 12 rumors have been pretty tame.
Here's what we know so far:
Former Tea Party senate candidate Christine O'Donnell has been approached by producers. O'Donnell had this to say on her Facebook page: "I just got the Official 'Ask' from Dancing With The Stars !! Although I am utterly flattered, my initial thought was to decline, as 2 year old nephew has more rhythm than me, and my two left feet!!" That's not a firm "No."
O'Donnell, a Palin family favorite, has been rumored to be in talks since season 11 ended. She'd certainly bring the political controversy Bristol Palin did, but would she be as likable?

The official 'Dancing With the Stars' cast won't be revealed until March 1 during 'The Bachelor' finale, but that hasn't stopped rumors about the potential line-up from spreading -- including some started by the celebrities themselves. Here's a rundown of some of the latest names to be getting some traction on the virtual dance floor known as the Internet.
