dancing with the stars recap
'Dancing With the Stars' Week 8: J.R. Gets Two Perfect Scores & Nancy Falls From Grace
To quote the lovably looney Bruno Tonioli, it was a night of miracles in the ballroom during this week's 'Dancing With the Stars.' It was the last dance-off before the semi-finals, and everyone brought their A-game. But no one brought it quite like J.R. Martinez. The Iraq War veteran not only scored the first perfect score of the season for his dreamy waltz -- but then he did it again with his high-energy jive. That's a perfect score of 60, and it was just as incredible as it sounds. This week J.R. was on a mission to dance a perfect waltz, and he most certainly succeeded. The pair got a standing ovation -- before their dance was even finished. J.R. and Karina were absolutely lovely together, so it's pretty fitting that the two would receive that first perfect score of the season. Despite J.R.'s goofy moves in rehearsals, this soldier is in it to win it. His lines were clean, his toes were pointed and he even managed to pull off some pretty impressive tricks (watch out, Derek!).
'Dancing With the Stars' Week Four: Ricki Gets a Perfect 10 & Cher Cries Over Chaz!
Let's face it: You don't really want a recap this week. You just want to know how many times the 'Dancing With the Stars' cameras panned to Cher. So, I'm going to try and do both.Cher looked like a proud mama watching her son dance to the theme from 'Rocky.' it was Chaz's best performance ... EVER (but I'm not changing my mind about this). It even brought Carrie Ann -- and Cher! -- to tears. However, did the crowd really give Cher a standing ovation when Chaz mentioned her? Chaz, you may have had your best dance of the competition, but you still got served by your mother. Granted, your mother is Cher.
Speaking of Cher, one of my favorite parts of the night was watching Cher's reactions to the judges critiquing Chaz. She was cheering, clapping, jumping and even praying -- yes, praying. It was pretty adorable.
'Dancing with the Stars' - 'Performance #7 Results'
(S10E15) With one elimination until the semi-finals, the contestants of 'Dancing with the Stars' are under continued pressure. In Len Goodman's recap he admits to Chad and Niecy being the "pretenders."I would be very disappointed if the final three wasn't Evan, Erin, and Nicole. The one thing I did like about last season was that the final three professionals (Dmitri, Kym, and Louis) were never there. I'm indifferent on having Derek and Maks have yet another shot of victory, but Anna deserves another shot since her last appearance in the finals with Jerry Rice.
Encore - Nicole & Derek's '50s Paso Doble - The second time around the Paso looked a bit sloppier but like Nicole was actually letting go because she knew she wasn't being scored. I understand why many people think it's unfair that Nicole is in a league of her own, but in all truth, it's because Derek is a strong choreographer and he normally has a dancer with potential (Joanna, Brooke, Jennie, Lil Kim). Mya last year was a strong performer, but Dmitri kept giving her props and confusing choreography.
Seven shows that need funny commentators more than American Idol
American Idol's choice of Ellen DeGeneres as a judge replacement threw everyone for a loop, even schlubs like me who don't watch the show. It's not that she's not talented, successful or funny. It's just an odd choice, putting a comedian on the show that takes its goal of crushing losers' dreams on live television so seriously. It would evoke the same reaction from me if they picked Andrew "Dice" Clay as the new judge, if the Diceman was talented, successful or funny.
And besides, why do they need humor and comedy on such an otherwise serious show? There are lots of humorless, vapid and downright boring shows that are crying out for comedic interjection.
Opportunity Knocks on heaven's door
So ABC has canceled the reality game show Opportunity Knocks, the Ashton Kutcher show where family members win money if they know a lot about other family members. The show hasn't been doing well in the ratings at all. The cancellation takes effect immediately, though ABC has a handful of episodes in the can which they're going to show So I bet you're thinking, "Gee, I wonder what show is going to replace Opportunity Knocks?" Which of the following shows do you think it is?
Dancing With The Stars: Week 10 results (season finale)

(S06E20) Episode 20. The big show. We've followed these three couples for two and a half months and it's finally time to crown a champion and put season six in the books. As Tom called them out, we have the Olympic gold medalist, the one-armed hero, and the grid-iron god. You could make a case for any of them taking home the mirror ball, and the title of season six champion. But first, there was one more round of dances to get to. We'll have that, the winner, and so much more, after the jump.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 10, The Finals

(S06E19) After two and a half months, it all comes down to this. As Tom put it, the end is near and the trophy is within reach. Like we have seen in the past, finals week brings with it the big freestyle numbers. There was a new twist this year though, the Cha Cha Faceoff. The couples were tasked with sharing a cha cha number, each of them providing a one minute segment. It all came together to make for a great night of dancing. Read on past the jump for the scores, and a look at each of the performances.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 9 results
(S06E18) Since the bottom two couples weren't revealed last week, it was difficult to predict who would make it to the final round. I never would have imagined that Mario and Shannon would be absent from the final four. Nevertheless, it was time to send one last couple home.We had to wait until the last minutes of the results show learn the celebrities' fates, but we had plenty of entertainment to hold us over. The Junior Champions finalists took over the dance floor, and Omarion performed in a high-energy tribute to the Thriller album.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 9
(S06E17) We've reached the semi-finals, and I'm amazed that Marissa is still in the competition. I expected Mario to make it to the final round, but the fan votes are hard to predict. Tonight the final four couples drew their two dances at random. The lift ban was reinstated, which limited the contestants' options as well. As usual, they would perform one Ballroom routine and one Latin routine. Ballroom Round
After congratulating the remaining couples, Len warned them that "good enough" simply wouldn't cut it. They were looking for greatness and expected the dancers to up their game significantly.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 8 results

(S06E16) It was a big night down at DWTS HQ. Not only would the field be set for the big semi-final showdown next week, it was also the show's 100th episode. That milestone meant that many of our favorites from seasons gone by were making their return to the ballroom. In addition, ABC recognized that nothing else they were going to put on tonight was going to measure up to DWTS numbers, so they kicked the whole thing off with a clip-show counting down the judge's ten favorite performances from the first five seasons. That list, and the rest of the results show goings on, after the jump.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 8

(S06E15) Last week things were turned upside down as Jason took the points lead from Kristi and Shannon left in a surprising elimination. No time to worry about that for our couples though, as week eight brings with it two more dances. If that wasn't enough, the lift ban is out the window. Each couple is allowed to do a lift in each of their performances, as long as it is performed in the character of the routine, whatever that means. Now they must weigh the prospects of it all going terribly wrong against the possible gain to be had in points and votes. Would Kristi reclaim the top spot? Or would there be a new leader? All that, and a rundown of all the week eight performances, after the jump.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 7 results

(S06E14) Going into tonight's Dancing With The Stars results show, fans had one question on their minds. Would Cristián continue to dance after his injury, or would he withdraw from the competition? Naturally we had to wait until the very end of the show to have that question answered. The ballroom kids were replaced by Kenny Mayne and Def Leppard--definitely an adults' night.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 7

(S06E13) This is traditionally the herd-thinning week on Dancing With The Stars. Half of the contestants have been eliminated, and the remaining contestants are tasked with two dance routines. That's a lot of work for one week. Who rose to the challenge? Who fell short of greatness? Read on to find out.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 6 results

(S06E12) Coming off of performance night, conventional wisdom said that Marlee & Fabian would find themselves in the bottom two. The big question... Who would be joining them? We are now far enough into the competition that there are no more easy eliminations. And, as we saw, that other couple in the bottom two was somewhat of a surprise. Leading up to the elimination though, the bigger story might have been Shannon & Derek reacting to the judge's comments. All that, and a rundown of the entire results show, after the jump.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 6
(S06E11) As if the pressure on the stars wasn't enough, this week it was ratcheted up another notch. Not only did we have each couple doing a dance they hadn't done before, they also had to learn a second number. All the teams got together to perform as one in the big country showdown. It wasn't scored, but served as a pre-cursor to next week, where all the remaining couples will do two full dances. Would Kristi continue her reign atop the leader board? Would Jason or Mario knock her off? Those answers, and a rundown of all the performances, after the break. %Gallery-21181%
