ABC Picks Up 'Awkward Situations for Men'
by Scott Harris, posted Dec 21st 2009 11:45AM
British humor writer Danny Wallace has put himself in many awkward situations over the course of his career, but now ABC is putting him in the most awkward one of all: prime time. According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC has put in an order for 'Awkward Situations for Men,' which will star Wallace in an adaptation of his forthcoming memoir of the same name. The series will follow Wallace as he moves to America with his wife and discovers, as the report puts it, "that his everyday behavior clashes with American values and gets him into trouble."
ABC bringing reality comedy to America

Here's an interesting pick for the Alphabet network. ABC has ordered a pilot for British humorist Danny Wallace's upcoming book, Awkward Situations for Men, the story of his and his wife's journey through America as a British man trying to adjust to the American way of life.
It's an interesting choice because it's new territory for ABC and American television in general. Wallace mines humor in his books and shows from setting himself up in strange situations such as hunting down old childhood friends, challenging fellow humorist Dave Gorman to find as many people named Dave Gorman as possible and saying "yes" to every question for six months, the latter of which was remade into a movie starring Jim Carrey.
Think this will work in the states and if so, will see more of them?

While announcing the night's guest was to be Robin
Williams, Jon cracked a Paul Williams joke. He then chuckled at the mild response and called himself the oldest man
alive, shouting, "Ancient mariner!" Ah, it would have been funnier/made more sense if he had slung an
albatross around his neck.TV Squad Hot Topics
