TNT Cancels 'Dark Blue'

by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 17th 2010 6:15AM
Cast of 'Dark Blue'Even the addition of Tricia Helfer to the cast couldn't save 'Dark Blue': The gritty undercover cop drama has become the latest show consigned to the junkyard this fall.

According to The Futon Critic, a spokesman for TNT confirmed that the network will not be ordering a third season of the series.

Although it stars Dylan McDermott and is executive-produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, 'Dark Blue' has struggled with ratings and reviews. The second season only managed to rake in an average of 2.25 million viewers, making it the least-watched of TNT's summer offerings.

TNT Renews Medical Drama 'HawthoRNe' for Third Season

by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 15th 2010 8:35AM

Cast of 'HawthoRNe'The Pinkett Smith family success story continues as Jada's medical drama series, 'HawthoRNe,' has been picked up by TNT for a third season.

Deadline.com reports that TNT will announce today that they've ordered ten more episodes of the medical drama, which aired this summer to generally strong ratings. The network used 'HawthoRNe' to successfully launch 'Memphis Beat', and the quirky cop drama, starring Jason Lee, was renewed at the beginning of September.

Now the only TNT drama waiting to hear its fate is the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced 'Dark Blue.' The gritty cop drama, starring Dylan McDermott, is now in its second season, but has struggled with ratings and reviews.

Wearing a Wire Leads to Disaster on 'Dark Blue' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 19th 2010 12:46AM
Wearing a Wire Leads to Disaster on 'Dark Blue'Going undercover to catch a criminal must be a fairly stressful job. Still, if you're going to do it, at least make sure that you're good at keeping a straight face. On the latest episode of 'Dark Blue' (Wed., 9PM ET on TNT), the team uses a crook to ensnare a crook. But after that ... things go horribly wrong.

[Spoiler alert.]

A twenty-year-old is killed by a loan shark for his gambling debts. So the 'Dark Blue' detectives send fellow criminal Billy (Rick Hoffman) in with a wire, in order to record a confession from the bad guy. Billy gets his confession. But he's terrible at hiding his emotions. When the loan shark fesses up, Billy smirks. No! Don't do that! Now the bad guy knows that Billy is a snitch.

On 'Dark Blue,' Ty and Carter Get "Jacked" by Drug Dealers (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 5th 2010 2:05AM
On 'Dark Blue,' Ty and Carter Get 'Jacked' by Drug DealersHow far undercover is too undercover to go? On 'Dark Blue' (Wed., 9PM ET on TNT), our heroes infiltrate the underground world of drug dealers. But they may have gone too far, this time around.

[Spoiler alert.]

Ty and Carter (played by Omari Hardwick and Dylan McDermott) try to perform a "sting" operation. In this case, though, they seem to have gotten too close to the criminals. Not only do they get outsmarted, but they also lose the money they brought to buy drugs -- which was part of the sting. How do they lose it? They get robbed.

Also, Carter gets bashed on the head by one of the criminals, and is knocked unconscious. See, this is the "danger zone" with going undercover. If you get too mixed up with the bad guys, then there's always the chance that you're just giving them the upper hand.

Dylan McDermott, 'Dark Blue''Dark Blue' is the kind of gritty cop drama that gives you nightmares and makes you a less trusting person. At least, it was.

According to star Dylan McDermott -- and confirmed by the first three episodes we screened -- 'Dark Blue' has gotten a little lighter in its second season (premieres Wed., Aug. 4, 9PM ET on TNT).

We caught up with McDermott to hear all about Carter Shaw, his TV alter-ego, getting a sense of humor. He also dished about show romances, a hot new leading lady in Tricia Helfer and ... Funny or Die?

The Show Girl Talks 'Dark Blue,' 'Mad Men' and 'Plain Jane' (VIDEO)

Dylan McDermott, 'Dark Blue'This week, I've got scoop on the new season of gritty cop drama 'Dark Blue,' which star Dylan McDermott promises will be more romantic. Need proof? New star Tricia Helfer in a makeout session with a pair of handcuffs sounds sexy enough to me.

I also toast the return of 'Mad Men,' and get a surprise visit from Sally Draper herself, Kiernan Shipka, who says there'll be comedy and some great moments for her character this season. (Watch until the very end to hear her surprising list of favorite bands.) Then I dish about new makeover/reality dating series 'Plain Jane' with the show's host and fairy godmother Louise Roe, who also has some style tips to share.

by Daniel Frankel, posted Dec 9th 2009 8:53AM
TNT has said "yes" to a second season of cop drama 'Dark Blue,' ordering up 10 new episodes, the cable network confirmed Tuesday.

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, and starring Dylan McDermott as the leader of undercover squad, 'Dark Blue' averaged just over 2 million viewers during its initial run over the summer.

'Blue' had been on the bubble, with TNT officials contemplating what has become a pretty crowded drama roster for 2010.
