Thank God You're Here: Episodes 1 & 2 (series premiere)
by Richard Keller, posted Apr 10th 2007 10:30AM

(S01E01/S01E02) I'm about to give you fair warning. In addition to being a husband, father, writer at TV Squad, and Nobel Prize-winning astrophysicist I have also been in improv for 5 years. So, my review is may be slightly tainted.
That being said, I didn't think Thank God You're Here was an utter disaster. I also didn't think it was a laugh-until-you-pee hit, either. It was interesting to watch and mildly entertaining, even in those scenes where you knew the actors were waaaayyyy out of their element. And there was plenty of that.
Here!'s Buddy Cole cartoon

Conservative groups like the American Family Association have been having a fit
over the alleged "homosexual agenda" of The Book of Daniel. Well here's
another show for them to worry about, but this time, there's definitely no need for "alleged". Here!, the gay
lifestyle network, has
announced that they plan on creating a cartoon based on the Kids in the Hall character, Buddy Cole. In the
show, Buddy, the owner of a gay bar, suddenly becomes a parent when his orphaned niece shows up one day. He also comes
under the scrutiny of a conservative city councilman. Animated hilarity is expected to ensue.Buddy brought the funny as a few-minutes-long sketch on Kids in the Hall, but will he be enough to create an entire series? Well, I guess he's more material to work with than that "I'm crushing your head!" guy (who I still, to this day, imitate at random intervals).
