So we come to that time of year when we list all of the TV celebrities that have died over the past year. We hear about these people passing away at various points of the year (sometimes a few the same week), but it's really odd to see them all listed together at once like you'll see after the jump.

Emmy-Winning Writer David Lloyd Dead at 75

The Mary Tyler Moore ShowEmmy-winning writer David Lloyd has died.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lloyd lost his battle with prostate cancer on Tuesday at his home in Beverly Hills. He was 75.

Best known for writing the 'Chuckles Bites the Dust' episode of the 'Mary Tyler Moore Show,' on our list of the best '70s TV shows, Lloyd also penned for 'The Tonight Show' and 'The Dick Cavett Show' in the '60s. He went on to write for a number of classic comedies, including 'Rhoda,' 'Taxi,' 'Cheers,' 'The Bob Newhart Show,' 'Wings' and 'Frasier,' for which he won his third Emmy.

Veteran writer David Lloyd dead after a long illness

CheersDavid Lloyd was one of those TV writers whose work spread across the history of television. He worked on shows ranging from The Tonight Show in the 60s to Frasier in the 90s and early 2000s.

Lloyd died last night after a long illness.

Lloyd had a part in many memorable TV shows over the years, as a writer and/or a producer, including Cheers, Wings, Taxi, Lou Grant, Rhoda, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, Phyllis, The Tony Randall Show, Dear John, The Dick Cavett Show, The Associates, The Best of the West, and many other shows.

on his site, including a discussion of how Lloyd was as a writer. It includes an example of Lloyd's script for the classic Mary Tyler Moore Show episode "Chuckles Bites The Dust."
