Kathy Griffin Gets Naked -- Often -- At Anderson Cooper's House (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 14th 2011 2:00AM
Kathy Griffin, 'Anderson'Anderson Cooper invited Kathy Griffin to stay at his house, and while he may have been surprised by a lot of what went down, we certainly weren't. He had Griffin on his new show, 'Anderson' (Weekdays, Syndicated), where he showed some of the footage. It was almost 'Too Hot for TV!'

To make matters worse, the first night Griffin was in his house, she was there alone. That freed her up to send pictures of herself in various states of undress, draped all over his house. Clearly she was making herself more than comfortable in his house.

She then crawled into bed to continue making him uncomfortable, asking him if he wanted to touch her, and even revealing that she's wearing his underwear. But nowhere turned out to be safe from her shenanigans.

Regis Philbin to Get His Own Reality Show?

by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 8th 2011 6:00AM
Regis PhilbinHas Kathie Lee Gifford got a working crystal ball? When Regis Philbin first announced his impending retirement, she said "He'll never retire ... I think his most enjoyable days are ahead of him."

Now it seems as though she was right. In an interview with 'USA Today' Philbin reveals that he's been mulling over the idea of taking on his own reality show after he steps down from 'Live!' in November.

"There are several things that interest me," he says. "You know these reality shows? I would love to do a real reality show where Regis goes out."

In fact, Philbin's already got the ball rolling on a potential new project -- "I did a little pilot for somebody last week in L.A." -- but says he'll wait to see the edited version before he says yes or no to continuing.

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 20th 2011 6:10AM
Regis PhilbinEver since Regis Philbin announced his impeding retirement live on-air back in January, speculation's been rife as to who will replace him on 'Live! With Regis and Kelly.'

Now one report says that the morning show's distributors, Disney-ABC Domestic Television, have narrowed the field to just three candidates.

According to 'The Wall Street Journal,' those candidates are: TV hosts Ryan Seacrest ('American Idol') and Andy Cohen ('Watch What Happens Live'), and co-host Kelly Ripa's husband, actor and TV host Mark Consuelos ('All My Children').

In contrast to the 79-year old Philbin, they're all relatively young, with Cohen the oldest at age 43. All three are veterans of hosting live TV, and both Cohen and Consuelos have filled in for Philbin recently.

The 'WSJ' reports that producers plan to reboot 'Live!' once Philbin steps down in November. So who's got the edge?

For her part, Couric says she is happy with the end result of the protracted negotiations: "It is very gratifying that so many people were willing to meet with me and were interested," she said. "It made me think maybe a show like this could do reasonably well. We'll see."

by Catherine Lawson, posted May 20th 2011 9:30AM
Katie CouricEver since Katie Couric announced she was stepping down from 'The CBS Evening News' there's been constant speculation as to what she'll do next.

The most persistent rumor has linked her with ABC and that network's plans to fill the Oprah-sized hole in their daytime lineup. Now, it seems as though Couric will indeed be getting her own daytime talk show.

Even though she signed off from 'Evening News' last night, Couric's still under contract with CBS until June 6, so no official announcement about her future is expected for another few days. However, 'The Los Angeles Times' says she's close to signing a deal to launch a new ABC syndicated talk show in the fall of 2012. And, that it may reunite Couric with her former 'Today' colleague, Matt Lauer.

The 'Times' says that while much of the deal has been has been hammered out, there are still outstanding "issues" surrounding compensation. Couric landed a record-breaking $15-million payday when she signed with CBS.

Jerry Springer
TV Guide voted it the "Worst TV Show Ever." The show's own tagline was once, "An hour of your life you'll never get back." Whatever description you want to slap on 'The Jerry Springer Show,' you can't deny that the guy, and the scummy, scummy show, has longevity. And, if we're all being honest, we have to admit we've chuckled at an episode or two.

Rosie O'Donnell Returns to Daytime Talk on Oprah's OWN Network

by Rich Keller, posted Aug 6th 2010 10:25AM
Rosie O'Donnell will join Oprah's cable network with a new daytime talk showSince she left her slot as one of the hosts of 'The View' back in 2007, Rosie O'Donnell has been looking for a new venue to make her return to television. She even went so far as to join up with syndicated show veterans Dick Robertson and Scott Carlin to create a new daytime talker.

Now, thanks to Oprah Winfrey, all her hard work is paying off.

Deadline Hollywood reports that Oprah has purchased O'Donnell's talk show for her OWN cable network. Premiering in 2011, the program will mark a return to the happy and fun Rosie that viewers remember from her days on 'The Rosie O'Donnell Show' back in the 1990s. This will be a change for O'Donnell, who has shown a darker, more controversial side to her personality since she left her program in 2002.

MTV cancels Alexa Chung's show

by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 11th 2009 8:02PM
MTV's first and last foray into the daytime talk show market has come to an abrupt halt.

Alex Chung, the British model turn talk show host, has lost her daytime talk show It's On with Alexa Chung on MTV after just two seasons. The network announced that the show would not return following its final show on Dec. 17.

I never watched the show and judging from its style and substance, I don't seem to be the demographic for it so I'm wary of criticizing or critiquing exactly what MTV has lost here. For those of who have seen it, did MTV lose something special? It seems to me that this is just a result of the slow eradication of daytime talk shows from small players like the Chung-fest and power forwards like Oprah "The Refrigerator" Winfrey.

Another victim of the economy: Marie Osmond

by Brad Trechak, posted Aug 1st 2009 12:05PM
Marie OsmondPoor Marie Osmond. Apparently, her upcoming daytime talk show has been pulled already due to poor ad sales, despite being cleared on stations reaching 80% of the TV audience. It was going to be broadcast from Las Vegas where she and her brother Donny are performing nightly at the Flamingo Hotel as a result of selling their souls.

I guess that Dancing With The Stars career boost didn't really pay off. Or perhaps it was just unfortunate circumstances given how the economy is tanking. However, things are getting better and it's entirely possible that she'll be back in the talk show market in a few years.

I recognize that the Donny and Marie talk show lasted two seasons, but isn't that the franchise that most people recognize nowadays when then think of her (if they're of a certain age)? Her previous solo variety show in 1980 only lasted a year. Does she think that this talk show would last longer?
