Bill O'Reilly Is Worried Anne Hathaway Will Ruin the Oscars (VIDEO)
On 'The O'Reilly Factor' (weekdays, 8PM ET on Fox News) Dennis Miller and Bill O'Reilly were discussing Ricky Gervais' controversial hosting of the Golden Globes, when the topic turned to Anne Hathaway, who will be co-hosting the Academy Awards with James Franco."I think Anne Hathaway hosting the Academy Awards is going to be brutal," O'Reilly opined. "She's going to be like Joan Rivers out there. I can't imagine."
Dennis Miller Compliments Barack Obama on His Tax Cut 'Pragmatism' (VIDEO)
Barack Obama's deal with the GOP to extend the Bush era tax cuts may have enraged Keith Olbermann and other elements of the left, but it has the support of Dennis Miller, who is generally critical of Obama.Appearing on 'The O'Reilly Factor' (weekdays, 8PM ET on Fox News) the comedian and radio host praised Obama for his pragmatism on the deal, and expressed his belief that Obama's move to the center will increase the chances he will be a two-term president.
"I'm not weighing in on this guy at this moment and say he is weak. He made a pragmatic decision, the fact is over the last two years Pelosi, Reid, he, all the dems . . . they built a Jenga tower of BS, and when that 9.8 unemployment came in last week, that was the last piece that tipped the Jenga tower.
While a good Jenga reference is always appreciated, when talking about the current debt-ridden state of he U.S. economy shouldn't the board game of choice be Monopoly -- as in the money the government continues to throw around on tax cuts and stimulus?
Dennis Miller Explains Why He Likes Sarah Palin, Dislikes Obamacare (VIDEO)
Comedian/radio-show host Dennis Miller, the self-professed libertarian, is known to have fiscally conservative views. So it's no surprise that he's not a big fan of Obamacare. On 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Miller called President Obama a "nice man" but described the new policy as "a big sweaty encyclopedia salesman that we accidentally let into the living room, and it's gonna be tough to pry him out on the back porch again." He said the consequences could turn the country into "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure 3."
Craig Ferguson asked Miller what he thought of Sarah Palin. "I like Palin because, just because too many people who I don't respect hate her." Ferguson thought that was an interesting point. Miller went on to explain the (different) reasons men and women are drawn to her.
Dennis Miller Casts Doubt on President Obama's Wizard-Like Intelligence (VIDEO)
On last night's 'Red Eye' (Weeknights 3 AM ET, on Fox News) host Greg Gutfeld and the gang got to debating just how smart President Obama really is."We have the most tone deaf president ever," Gutfeld complained. "He's smart, but he doesn't see that everyone is sick and tired..."
"You're still (using) the precursor 'he's smart,'" right-leaning comedian Dennis Miller injected. "Because I'm starting to wonder. Everybody does that, it's almost reflexive, it's like when they hit your knee with the rubber hammer -- 'He's smart but...'"
"I can't do the reflexive he's a wizard thing anymore" Miller continued. "We're starting to see some really stupid stuff, where if anyone else did this, they'd be Palinized."
Gutfeld agreed that he should probably stop qualifying his criticism of the president with a "he's smart but..."
He then offered an awkward compromise: "I should say he's hot but..."
ABC's John Stossel moves to Fox
You might think it's surprising that 20/20 anchor John Stossel is leaving ABC for Fox, but it's not really much of shock. It seems to me that there have been other high profile names that were once considered liberal firebrands -- Geraldo Rivera and Dennis Miller come to mind -- who've grown older and changed their stripes, finding a home at Fox. Stossel, whom I recall as a staunch consumer reporter and a man who liked to tear down hypocrisy at every turn, has been a regular at ABC News for nearly three decades. Now, he's moving on to Fox Business Network where he'll have a weekly show, and Fox News where he'll make frequent guest appearances.
Idol's Ellen DeGeneres decision sounds eerily similar to MNF's Dennis Miller manuever
Now regular Squad hoppers know I'm no drooling American Idol watcher, so maybe you think my opinions on this show are worth less than the U.S. dollar injected with swine flu. But this move to bring in Ellen DeGeneres, a talk show host, actress and comedian, screams of another move in the world of TV commentating. A move that seemed well reasoned enough but went down in a glorious ball of blue and orange flames on live television.
Comedian and long time TV fixture Dennis Miller's very short stint as the color commentator for ABC's Monday Night Football screams of similarities louder than that guy in the Edvard Munch painting watching the Orson Welles sex tape. Great, Miller's voice is back in my head again. Thanks cha cha, I mean, Ellen.
Dennis Miller's HBO legacy on DVD
When you think of HBO comedy specials, some big names come to mind. George Carlin sets the pace, with 14 specials, many of them classics. Robert Klein carved out the format in 1975 with the first one-hour special, and is now working on his ninth. Chris Rock has five, including last year's Kill the Messenger. But do you think of Dennis Miller? If not, maybe you should. ON March 31, Standing Room Only Entertainment will release Dennis Miller: The HBO Specials, and there are seven of them on three discs, from 1988's Mr. Miller Goes to Washington to 2006's All In. Over the span of those seven hours, you can track the king of the obscure reference as his politics changed, from a few early swipes at Ronald Reagan to his lean a bit more right after 9/11.
The standup of Drake Sather - VIDEOS
This past weekend (May 24) marked the fourth anniversary of the death of comic and writer Drake Sather. No one knows what goes on in the mind of someone who takes their own life, but this guy was brilliant and quite funny. Besides his great standup work, he was a writer and producer on NewsRadio (he also played Jimmy James' attorney in two different episodes of the show), and also wrote for such shows as Saturday Night Live, Ed, The Dennis Miller Show, Sammy,The Naked Truth, Empty Nest, and The Larry Sanders Show. He also wrote the movie Zoolander.
After the jump is a standup routine from Sather, filmed at the San Diego Improv in 1992 (split up into three different videos). It's actually rather amazing that a lot of funny bits and lines that I've used over the past 10 years came from Sather.
So sad, but his work does live on.
Did you get Amne$ia?
Yet another game show premiered last night. This time, it was NBC's Amne$ia hosted by Dennis Miller. This show has a similar premise than FOX's The Moment of Truth: contestants reveal secrets and facts about themselves in order to win money. The main difference between the two: Amne$ia does it tastefully while Moment goes for the ugliest and dirtiest secrets and somewhat doesn't care that your relationships go awry after the airings.Dennis Miller has Amnesia
When I first heard that Dennis Miller was going to host a game show, I thought to myself "yeah, I covered that already." But I didn't know that the show I had written about had already ended and this was a new game show he was going to host.
The previous one was Grand Slam, the GSN show that pitted former game show champs (like Ken Jennings) against each other. Looks like that show only lasted one season (hopefully I can catch the reruns), but Miller isn't through with game shows yet. He's going to host the new NBC show Amnesia, which will premiere on NBC in the 1 vs. 100 slot when that show ends its season.

Dennis Miller gets a new show on some channel called Versus
When Dennis Miller took over doing the color commentary on Monday Night Football several years back, fans of the show either loved him completely or hated him completely. You either really dug his arcane references and humor or you sighed a lot and wondered why he was in the booth (for the record, I don't really like football, so I didn't mind him in the booth at all). Now sports fans can relive those glory days!
Dennis Miller to host Grand Slam
Let's give Dennis Miller credit: the man isn't afraid to try new things. He's been a comedian, an actor, a sports announcer, a political pundit (of sorts), a talk show host, and a radio show host.
Now, he's going to host a game show.
On August 7, Miller will host Grand Slam on the Game Show Network, a new series that will test players' knowledge in math, verbal skills and current events. The twist is that all of the contestants were big winners on other game shows. Jeopardy! champ Ken Jennings will appear on the new game show, along with past winners of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
