Nicollette Sheridan Says She Won't Return to 'Desperate Housewives' For Its Final Season (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 8th 2011 1:15PM
Nicollette Sheridan nixes report she will return to 'Desperate Housewives' on 'Today''Desperate Housewives' is going to take its "victory lap" for an eighth and final season, but it will apparently do so without one if its longtime stars. Despite a story in the Hollywood Reporter in which creator Marc Cherry said the character Edie could return to the show, Nicollette Sheridan said on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) that isn't likely to happen.

When Kathie Lee Gifford told Sheridan about the report, Sheridan replied, "Huh. Well, that's news to me." It's not necessarily that Sheridan would be against it, she just sees a wee bit of a practical problem to solve. "I had an amazing time playing that character," she said. "I loved her dearly, but they killed her. She's dead."

'Desperate Housewives' to End After Season 8

by Jean Bentley, posted Aug 5th 2011 4:30PM
Desperate HousewivesYou'll have to look elsewhere for your soapy domestic drama come May 2012, because that's when 'Desperate Housewives' will conclude its eighth and final season. Although ABC hasn't yet sent official word, the network is expected to announce the big news at Sunday's Television Critics Association panel. UPDATE 8/7/11: ABC has since made it official.

According to Deadline Hollywood, the news was completely unexpected considering all four of the show's big stars -- Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Eva Longoria -- had signed on for two more years, and creator Marc Cherry had publicly stated he wanted the series to run for nine seasons.

Is It All Over for 'Desperate Housewives'?

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jul 12th 2011 8:30AM
'Desperate Housewives'Is the end nigh for 'Desperate Housewives'? It's been reported that the upcoming eighth season may be the last for the residents of Wisteria Lane.

According to TV Guide, ABC execs and the show's producers could decide the fate of the veteran drama by early August. However, there is a chance they could wait and see how Season 8 performs before they decide.

A source close to the show said that, "It's all dependent on the ratings. It will be up against some stiff competition." Gulp.

Although last season 'Housewives' was the 24th most-watched prime-time show among broadcast networks, audience numbers were down by around 50 percent from its Season 1 glory days.

A Recent History of Time-Jumping on TV

by Maggie Furlong & Jean Bentley, posted Jun 28th 2011 12:45PM
Weeds, True Blood, Time JumpingLast night's 'Weeds' saw our protagonists flash forward three years in the future, with pot-dealing housewife Nancy Botwin moving from prison to a halfway house in New York City. And on Sunday's 'True Blood' premiere, the residents of Bon Temps skipped ahead an entire year -- a major jump for the series, considering the first three seasons took place during the same month.

All that time-jumping got us thinking about other shows that have pulled the "skip forward" move to avoid awkward plot points. You know, like that time 'One Tree Hill' escaped those clunky college years, or when Melinda had a baby on 'Ghost Whisperer' that was suddenly five years old.

After the page jump, join us in a discussion of time jumps and whether or not they actually worked. (And before you comment-yell at us, this list does not include shows that routinely employ time travel, like 'Doctor Who' or 'Quantum Leap.')

Gaby's Past Attacks Her Quite Literally on Season Finale of 'Desperate Housewives' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 16th 2011 4:50AM
'Desperate Housewives' season finale - 'Come on Over for Dinner'Gaby's stepfather came back into her life in a major way in the Season 7 finale of 'Desperate Housewives' (Sun., 9PM ET on ABC). After a childhood in which he'd sexually abused her, she thought she was already rid of him, but he came back into her life.

Then, she thought she got rid of him after holding him at gunpoint and forcing a confession and an apology out of him, but it was all a ruse so he could get to her later. And he did just that, confronting her when she was at home alone.

"You made me sound like a monster," he told her, before calling her a slut for how she dressed when she was younger and he was raping her in their home.

Susan Brings Poisoned Cookies to a School Function on 'Desperate Housewives' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 9th 2011 5:03AM
'Desperate Housewives' - 'A Time to Kill'At this rate, the parents at M.J.'s school are never going to like Susan on 'Desperate Housewives' (Sun., 9PM ET on ABC). Especially after she got on the P.A. system and announced that the cookies she'd brought to a school function were poisoned, and was then promptly arrested.

Poor Susan was a mess, trying to find her cookies before anyone could eat them, and eventually resorting to that announcement. "About those cookies I made, don't eat them. They're poisoned," she said. "My cookies will kill you."

With the police arrival, there wasn't time to explain that it wasn't her fault the cookies were poisoned. And that they were never intended for the parents anyway. They were intended for Paul, and they'd been poisoned by Felicia.

Gabby's Kids Think Bree Is Going to Kill Them on 'Desperate Housewives' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 2nd 2011 4:17AM
Why would you tell your kids about Bree's involvement in their grandmother's death, Carlos? How could that possibly end in anything other than disaster. This is, after all, Wisteria Lane. But that's what he did on 'Desperate Housewives' (Sun., 9PM ET on ABC).

In their defense, I would be pretty freaked out if I woke up and saw her hovering over me holding a pillow like that, too. How many non-murderous things can you do from that position?

Bree lucked out in a way later, after the girls called 911 on her and then told the responding officer that Bree had killed their grandmother. Lucky for Bree, she'd already gotten her flirt on with this particular officer, so he didn't handcuff her and drag her in for questioning.
