Marcia Cross Almost Became a Therapist Before Landing 'Desperate Housewives' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Dec 1st 2011 4:15PM
Marcia Cross' life has taken nearly as many twists and turns as her 'Desperate Housewives' character Bree Van De Kamp's. She told Robin Roberts on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC) that before she was cast in 'Desperate Housewives,' she was on the brink of retiring from acting to become a therapist. Eight seasons later, she's still on Wisteria Lane for the show's final season.

Her character Bree might be in need of a good shrink, as she's gone back to boozing and is in full melt-down mode. "She's in such a tailspin at the moment, I don't even know how they're gonna pull her out. Maybe they should just leave her in the gutter, find her ten years later, and pull her out and throw an apron on her," Cross joked.

Robert Chavira and Wendy Williams Joke About 'Desperate Housewives' and 'DWTS' (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Nov 18th 2011 6:00PM
Wendy Williams (weekdays, syndicated on Fox) has been a fan of 'Desperate Housewives' since the beginning, and as the show nears its finale, she invited Ricardo Chavira, who plays Carlos Solis, onto 'The Wendy Williams Show.' Chavira told Wendy that he's also a fan of hers, so much so that he watched her on 'Dancing With The Stars,' even though he isn't really into reality competitions. Fortunately, he was able to bail out quickly, since Wendy only lasted two weeks.
As it usually does, the conversation quickly turned to hair. Wendy told Chavira, "I love your hair on the show, but I love this here, too. What's all it doing?" Chavira talked about spending the summer in Texas and watching his daughter run around with her wild hair, but then got to the obvious inspiration. "It's kind of become this homage to one of my favorite, all-time TV show stars, Juan Epstein from 'Welcome Back, Kotter.'"

'Desperate Housewives' Ties Ratings Low: Fans Explain Why

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 10th 2011 3:15PM
Desperate Housewives Series Low Ratings'Desperate Housewives' isn't desperate for good ratings, but these numbers aren't looking so hot.

With just 8.46 million viewers this week, the show was down around 10 percent, matching the series' all-time low in their demo, viewers 18-49.

So what does it mean? Well, nothing honestly. Since the show is in its eighth and final season, it's not like it can get canceled, but these signs of viewer fatigue aren't ever welcome, especially when it affects other shows in the lineup. ABC's freshman drama 'Pan Am' continues to make a steady descent in the ratings, and their troubled lead-in is partially to blame.

So why the bad 'Desperate' numbers? Are you still watching? And if not, why not? Fans share their thoughts via Twitter and Facebook after the jump ...

'2011 ALMA Awards''Desperate Housewives' took home the award for Favorite TV Series at 'The 2011 ALMA Awards' (Fri., 8PM ET on NBC). The American Latino Media Arts Awards honors the Latino community, so it was no surprise that Eva Longoria spoke on behalf of the show after creator Marc Cherry.

But the women did have a little bit of fun with it when Felicity Huffman chastised Longoria for not speaking in Spanish. She then proceeded to speak in Spanish, translating what Longoria was saying in English.

That said, while Felicity hung in there very well, she did start to struggle the further they went along. In the end, though, it was a very cute bit, shaking expectations and having a little bit of fun.

Desperate Housewives Final SeasonThe ladies of Wisteria Lane are back for one last go around and the 'Desperate Housewives' final season premiere is a doozy -- Gabrielle, Susan, Lynette and Bree are attempting to get rid of a dead body.

As Lynette and Tom are grappling with their disintegrating marriage and impending separation, Lynette is having trouble making the right choices ever since she participated in the cover-up. And Bree must be especially careful around her new love, Detective Chuck Vance. Meanwhile a new sexy neighbor moves to town, Ben Faulkner, and he's Renee's first order of business."

Susan LucciSusan Lucci is reportedly done with 'All My Children.' The only original cast member on the long-running soap has turned down an offer to move online with the series in 2012, according to Deadline.

The Deadline report says Prospect Park offered Lucci a very similar salary to what ABC was paying her, but the actress asked for more money, fewer hours and the ability to do a primetime series.

'One Life to Live' stars Erika Slezak, Michael Easton, Ted King and Kassie DePaiva will remain with the show when it heads online in 2012.

Deadline reports Prospect Park may focus its resources on 'One Life to Live,' which had higher Nielsen ratings than 'All My Children,' and push 'All My Children' to the back since Lucci will not continue with the soap opera. Both shows are scheduled to debut online in early 2012.
