History Picks Up First Reality Competition Series

by Michael D. Ayers, posted Dec 9th 2009 11:14AM
Think you've got what it takes to be a "top shot?"

The History Channel thinks so, as they've announced the network's first reality-style game show. 'Top Shot' will feature contestants vying in sharp-shooting contests, in which each week one contestant is eliminated. According to the Hollywood Reporter, elimination challenges will be "inspired by real-life events in history, from Wild West shootouts to sniper missions."

The show is set to premiere in 2010 and has an initial 10-episode order. The show's inception comes from reality television veteran Craig Piligian ('Dirty Jobs,' 'Ghost Hunters'). ."

VIDEO: Mike Rowe Gets Personal About His Love Life, Singing and 'Dirty Jobs'

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 13th 2009 3:15PM
Mike Rowe, 'Dirty Jobs'It's not as easy to recognize Mike Rowe when he isn't covered in mud or knee-deep in a puddle of sludge, but the second he opens his mouth, that booming voice is unmistakable.

Beyond hosting 'Dirty Jobs' (Tuesdays, 9PM ET on Discovery) with a do-anything attitude and a say-anything wit, Rowe also lends his pipes to voiceovers for 'Deadliest Catch,' 'American Chopper,' Syfy's 'Ghost Hunters' and Ford trucks, among others.

Rowe stopped by AOL's L.A. studios to talk all about the new season of 'Dirty Jobs' -- including the dirtiest episode that will reveal why women all over the world are wearing dead cow on their faces. He also dished about the TV doc he gets mistaken for, then admitted he had a very unlikely start in Hollywood: "I wanted to get in the entertainment business ... so I got in through the opera." Don't believe it? You will when you hear him sing.

Now we can't deny that there's another kind of Mike Rowe fan out there -- the man behind the golden voice also addresses those many questions about whether or not he's single. Well, sort of. See it all right here in our exclusive video chat.

VIDEO The Show Girl: '30 Rock,' Mike Rowe, 'Glee' & More

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 9th 2009 10:00AM
Mike Rowe, 'Dirty Jobs'You've got questions? I've got answers. I'm The Show Girl!

This week, Mr. 'Dirty Jobs' himself, Mike Rowe, stops by to get a taste for my job ... and apparently, it's pretty filthy. He also dishes about the new season, and gives Show Girl watchers a very special performance.

Plus I've got scoop on the season premiere of '30 Rock,' and the awesomeness coming up on a little show you might've heard of called 'Glee.'

Want more? Email me TV questions at TheTVShowGirl@aol.com -- who knows, I might just give you an answer on the show. Now watch, enjoy and come back next week for more. Until then, happy TV watching! -- By Maggie Furlong

New TV on DVD releases this week

by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 23rd 2009 6:03PM
Make Room For DaddyHere are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.

Let's do something different this week. Which of these DVDs do you plan on buying? Let us know in the comments section.

I can't imagine buying any of these shows. The only two I might be interested in are Just Shoot Me (though I think it's one of those shows I'm happy just to see in reruns and not actually own) and Make Room For Daddy. But I would buy that just because it's a classic show, not because it's one of my favorites. It's one of those classic shows that I just never got into, unlike I Love Lucy or The Dick Van Dyke Show or The Honeymooners.

  • Breaking Bad - Season 1
  • Canterbury's Law - Complete Series
  • Cities of the Underground - Season 2
  • Dirty Jobs - Collection 4
  • Futurama - Into the Wild Blue Yonder
  • Girlfriends - Season 6
  • Just Shoot Me - Season 3
  • The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice
  • Make Room For Daddy - Season 6, Vol. 1
  • The Mighty B - Vol. 1
  • My Wife and Kids - Season 1
  • Oliver Twist - Miniseries
  • The Red Green Show - 2001 Season
  • Spider-Man - The Vulture
  • Summer Heights High - Season 1
  • The Universe - Seasons 1 and 2 Megaset
