Stephen Colbert and Dan Rather Talk Vampires and Zombies (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 28th 2011 5:24AM
Dan Rather, 'The Colbert Report'Patrick Rodgers of Philadelphia gained some notoriety when he successfully sued Wells Fargo. But as far as Stephen Colbert is concerned, the real story went untold by the likes of CNN's Don Lemon.

'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central) showed Colbert mock-fiercely grilling Lemon about the Rodgers story.

"Did you not notice that he was a vampire?" Colbert asked Lemon. "At no point did your journalistic instincts click in and say, 'Hey, maybe that's a more interesting story'?"

Lemon admitted that he had noticed Rodgers' sharp incisors but that that wasn't the real story. So Colbert asked veteran newsman Dan Rather what he would have done in that situation.

CNN's Don Lemon Talks About Being 'Transparent' and Coming Out (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted May 17th 2011 5:15PM
Don Lemon on 'The Wendy Williams Show'Transparency is an important concept to Don Lemon, so much so that he named his new memoir 'Transparent.' Lemon applies this concept as the anchor of 'CNN Newsroom' and in his personal life, revealing in his memoir that he is gay. He spoke about being gay and being yourself on today's 'Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated) and expressed his admiration for Williams.

Williams asked Lemon why he felt it was time to come out now, at 45. "I mean, when you are going to start living your life?" said Lemon. "It's time for people to be who they are."

Lemon said he had watched an episode of 'The Wendy Williams Show' last week on which Williams spoke frankly about her drug use, and he praised her for being transparent. He was happy to see it and said it was time for people to stop being hypocritical, to allow people to be who they are.

Maybe Michael Jackson's dad shouldn't be doing any interviews

by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 29th 2009 1:33PM
I know we all grieve in our own way, but isn't this CNN interview with Michael Jackson's dad more than a little odd? First he says that he's feeling "great" when Don Lemon asks how he's doing, then he goes on to plug some DVD company he has. Eh, I don't know. I probably wouldn't even have gone to this event if my son had just died and we hadn't even buried him yet. You can sense Lemon is uncomfortable too.

Changes coming to the CNN lineup (unfortunately)

by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 7th 2008 1:01PM
CNNI can't tell you exactly what I'll be doing every weekday at 3pm starting September 8, but I do know one thing: I won't be watching CNN anymore.

New CNN Director of Programming Scott Matthews sent out an e-mail to the entire staff earlier this week outlining the on-air changes that will start on that day. Heidi Collins will anchor solo from 9am to 11am, then Tony "I Always Look Over To The Side For Some Reason" Harris takes over solo from 11am to 1pm, then Kyra Phillips (she's great!) does the 1pm to 3pm slot, and then...drumroll please...Rick Sanchez takes over from 3pm to 4pm. I've talked about my aversion to Sanchez before, but I guess the people at CNN just don't see what viewers see. I suppose we should be thankful that he's only doing a one hour shift and not the two hours that the others are doing. I guess I can switch to something else between 3 and 4.

Where is Don Lemon in all of this? He won't be anchoring on the weekdays anymore. He's taking over the CNN Newsroom gig on the weekends and will become a correspondent the rest of the week.
