Surprise Appearance Stops Elka's Wedding on 'Hot in Cleveland' Finale (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 1st 2011 6:17AM
'Hot in Cleveland' - 'Elka's Big Day''Hot in Cleveland' (Wed., 10PM ET on TV Land) sure loves cliffhanger finales. Last season, we saw a tornado that revealed the secret stash of ill-gotten loot from Elka's dead husband Bobby. That little reveal landed Elka in some serious legal trouble at the beginning of this season.

But all that behind her, she found love and was poised to get married for this season's finale, only to have it interrupted by countless men who didn't want her to marry Frank, but them instead.

Even Max came back from Florida, which we expected was the dramatic cliffhanger to tease us until the show returns at the end of November. But they weren't done yet.

Don Rickles Provides Color Commentary to Leno's Interview With Bristol Palin (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 15th 2011 4:41AM
Don Rickles & Bristol Palin, 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'What do you do when an interview is perhaps less than exciting? Why not have Don Rickles sitting on the couch next to the subject providing color commentary. It worked for Bristol Palin's appearance on 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC).

Rickles provided the best reaction to the stories she told and answers she gave to Leno's questions. He gasped and made a cross with his fingers when she revealed that she lied to her mother so she could sneak out, get drunk and lose her virginity.

When Jay Leno asked her point-blank, not expecting an answer, if her mother Sarah Palin was going to put her hat in the ring and run for president, it was Rickles who was able to step in.

"Is there any reason she shouldn't run?" Leno asked when Bristol said they were discussing it.

"'Cause she could lose," Rickles chimed in.

She also mentioned that Don Rickles and Carl Reiner will be making guest appearances, prompting host Robin Roberts to call her a name-dropper. "I know what's good for me," joked White.

Roberts couldn't help but bring up the last time White was on 'GMA,' when she was hitting on host George Stephanopoulos. "Oh, yeah, I'll hit on almost anybody," said White. "Maybe even Don Rickles."

White also mentioned that 'Cleveland' will visit Amish country in one episode, which features White's character Elka on the lam, using only her flirting skills to stay one step ahead of the law.

Don Rickles Demands Jimmy Kimmel's Full Attention During an Interview (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 3rd 2011 1:59AM
Don Rickles, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night'When Don Rickles shows up for an interview, it's important that the host pays attention to him and remains gracious and preferably quiet. Rickles is as sharp as ever and nobody can sling a quick insult like him, as Jimmy Kimmel discovered on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night' (Thu., 8PM ET on ABC).

Kimmel started off by saying, 'Hey Don,' which Rickles took offense to. But Kimmel got in a good jab of his own when showing a picture of Rickles kissing his wife at a Lakers game.

"You look angry and you look like you've swallowed a lemon shortly before," he said.

"That was a good one," Rickles admitted. "That's gonna cost you."

"Yeah, I saw him last week," Rickles replied. "There was a lot of this!" At this point, Rickles mimicked spitting up and drooling. "It's a lot of me with my head two inches from Frank's face going 'I'm not Barbara!'"

The host agreed that "being insulted by him is like, you know, getting a kiss from someone very nice." Don Rickles Attacks Craig Ferguson ... and His Audience"Insult comic" Don Rickles made a guest appearance tonight on 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS). The comedian may be 84 years old, but he hasn't lost any of his passion for being rude. First, he and Craig Ferguson discussed how Craig and his wife are expecting a baby. Rickles attempted to laugh at Ferguson's baby-related jokes, but then he got a bit of a wicked gleam in his eyes.

"Isn't he great?" Don said to the audience. "Dynamite; everything he says [is] dynamite." Craig caught on to the sarcasm fairly quickly. "Sometimes when you do that, I just don't think you're being sincere."

"You're right!" Rickles quipped. Then, he clarified even further. " ... I DON'T LIKE YOU," he said to the host. Well. That's nice and clear.

'Tonight Show': Dwyane Wade Raps, Recruits Another Player to Miami Heat (VIDEO)

'Tonight Show': Dwyane Wade Raps, Recruits One More to Miami HeatDwyane Wade's father wanted his sons to be successful -- in song and dance, not basketball. "I didn't play basketball that much," explained Wade on 'The Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC). "He used to make me sing and rap and dance."

As a result, Wade and his brothers wrote "kiddie raps." The Miami Heat pro nervously shared the opening lines of a rap they put together when he was 8 years old. The Wade clan clearly wasn't thinking about being the next Jackson 5: This little ditty was about basketball.

Then Jay Leno asked whether there were any other new additions to the Miami Heat. Wade pulled a jersey out from behind the couch with Leno's name on it. But he said, "If you didn't wanta play, I was thinking--" and then pulled off a strip of tape to reveal "Rickles."

Wade handed the jersey to Don Rickles, sitting next to him. The basketball player got a pretty big laugh from the 84-year-old legendary comedian.

by Aimee Deeken, posted May 27th 2010 5:30AM
Don Rickles Teases David Letterman, Regis PhilbinWhen comedian and late-night staple Don Rickles dropped by the 'Late Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), no topic was off-limits, not even David Letterman.

"Now, uh, take, take us back--" Letterman began. "'Take, take, take' -- How long have you had that [stutter]?" teased Rickles. Letterman needled back by chiding him for appearing on Craig Ferguson's 'Late Late Show.'

But it's all good between these two longtime friends. "He gave me a wonderful party years ago at 21," said Rickles. "And Regis Philbin to this day has tried to commit suicide over that four or five times. Because Regis wanted to be invited, and he's not big enough."

Speaking of Philbin, Letterman has a bone to pick with him too.

If 'Idol' Producers Get Their Way, Howard Stern Could Replace Cowell

by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 5th 2010 11:02AM
howard_stern_siriusThe question of who will replace Simon Cowell as an 'American Idol' judge began in earnest today with Page Six claiming that Howard Stern is the 'Idol' producers' top choice to take Simon Cowell's throne. Stunt casting? Attention-grabbing? Total bull? You can take your pick because this smacks of a PR turn if ever there was one.

For a moment, though, let's consider the possibility. Howard's contract with Sirius XM Radio wraps next January. That contract was in the $100 million neighborhood. Could 'American Idol' fork over a pay-out equal to that? Umm, yes. They make enough. Will they? Hard to imagine. The figure mentioned in the report was $50 million a year, which is what Simon will earn this season, but that's based on the fact that Simon has a track record with 'Idol.'
