From Small Screen to Singer: When TV Stars Double as Musicians
by Spinner Editors, posted Nov 24th 2011 2:00PM
From Spinner: We love a good crossover, especially when our favorite TV stars pick up a microphone and belt out some tunes.

The good folks over at Spinner have compiled a bunch of videos of TV celebs from Joey Lawrence to Zooey Deschanel as they showcase their vocal chops. Though a number of singers have moved from music to television, this list features stars who made it big on the small screen before picking up a microphone, to varying degrees of success.

Drake Talks Nicki Minaj Sex Rumors on 'Chelsea Lately' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 23rd 2011 4:30AM
Chelsea Handler doesn't tip-toe around topics, so it was no surprise that she asked as directly as she did about rumors of Drake and Nicki Minaj hooking up on 'Chelsea Lately' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on E!). When she asked what the deal was, he asked her in what context."In penetration context," she said. "There's rumor that you were hitting that."
Drake refused to get into any specifics, instead saying that he was a huge fan of Minaj. But when Handler said she would take that as confirmation, he responded with, "Fair enough."
Drake on 'Degrassi': A Rapper's Early Days on Canadian TV
by Dave Kilpatrick, posted Jun 4th 2010 7:00PM
Canadian rapper Drake has become one of the hottest names in hip-hop since emigrating stateside to pursue his music career. In the space of about a year, he's launched multiple singles to the top of Billboard's Hot 100 chart, inked a record deal with prominent rap label Young Money Entertainment (distribution by Universal Republic), and performed at the Grammy Awards alongside his perpetually crunked mentor Lil Wayne. His new album 'Thank Me Later' leaked online this week to very positive reviews, and figures to bump him up to the level of rap superstar.
Legions of TV fans, however, know Drake by a different name -- Jimmy Brooks. That's the name of the character that Aubrey Drake Graham (yes, Drake is actually his middle name) portrayed for seven seasons on the Canadian high-school melodrama 'Degrassi: The Next Generation.'
