Rescue Me: Drink (season finale)
(S05E22) "You won't go to AA? I'll bring AA to you." - Teddy
After 22 episodes that didn't always feel all that cohesive, this was a finale that truly tied it all together. Rescue Me has had some memorable cliffhangers in the past, but this easily trumps them all not only for dramatic effect but for the potential lasting effects as well.
We'll get to all that because there really is a lot to discuss when it comes to "Drink." From the pettiness of Janet and Sheila to Damien's place at the 62 Truck house to the Gavin drinking epidemic, it was all answered in the comically twisted and dark fashion that we've come to expect from Rescue Me. Bottoms up.
Tru Blood is now a true drink
Come on. You knew it was going to happen. Tru Blood (the fictional vampire blood-substitute from the HBO series True Blood) is going to be offered as a novelty drink. You have to wonder what the drink will actually taste like. Blood? Hi-C? Red Bull? It's described in the article as "a crisp, slightly tart and lightly sweet tang," and I am left wondering what the hell does that exactly mean.
Will people mix it with alcoholic beverages? Will there be Tru Blood with vodka (a real Bloody Mary)? Tru Blood martinis? Tru Blood chasers with beer?
You know that some kids are trying to be vampires. Admittedly, when it comes to vampires in media, I am far more True Blood than Twilight, so I'm likely going to pick up a bottle and try the stuff out when it's available. The bottle is even a cool-looking collectible.
The big question is: how is Buffy going to react when she hears the news of this beverage?
Hebrew Tom and Jerry love chocolate milk
I found this little gem via Cartoon Brew and our own Chris Thilk, editor of TV Squad's sister site Ad Jab. It's a commercial for chocolate milk featuring 3D CGI versions of Tom and Jerry. Apparently the chocolate milk gives Jerry the power he needs to outwit Tom and crash through walls. This is absolutely true, and any children reading this should drink a glass of chocolate milk and immediately run into a stationary object as fast as they can. The commercial is foreign, and I'm told it's in Hebrew, but I wouldn't know. I don't really care all that much, either, I just think it's fun to look at. You can watch it here.Introducing Slashfood!
